Only good to wear for a few hours

These products are super affordable and they have a wide range of colours to choose from but they have an ultra drying formula that is really uncomfortable and I find that I can only have them on my lips for a maximum of 3 hours or so before they start to flake off and dry out my lips. Everything from Colourpop is super cheap but their postage is super expensive which makes the products cost way more in total.

Tips: If you want a product thats similar but way easier to wear I would recommend the ultra satin lips by colourpop instead

50/50

I'm kind of on the fence about this liquid lipstick. If I lived in America and had free shipping for this product, I'd think this is worth it, but alas I do not. Hence why I'm a bit iffy.

When I think of this product, I think: dry. After applying this product - I don't know whether it's the formula or the doe foot applicator itself but - it feels super dry. Like my lips become some kind of rough canvas (mind you I have quite smooth, soft lips) so this was off-putting. Once the formula settles it feels as if I literally just applied paint on my mouth.

The lasting power is typical of a liquid lipstick, and of course fades mostly on the inner lip area, deteriorating rapidly when it comes in contact with oil. I would have rated the product higher if it weren't for the ultra-drying, moisture-sucking effect on my lips. On the plus side, Colourpop do have a wonderful range of shades which caters to all different skintones and the pigmentation is amazing, bringing me back to me being on the fence about this range.

All in all, do I think it's worth the shipping? No. I feel that you could acquire of equal quality or even better liquid lipstick products here in NZ. Do I think it's worth it if I were residing in America? Most definitely, but unfortunately I'm not. If you're not fussed about shipping prices + want a wide range of colours + don't mind having super dry lips, I do recommend. If otherwise, I discourage you.

Tips: Definitely make sure to exfoliate as any dry/chapped areas will be obvious.

Inconsistent formulas

These matte liquid lipsticks have a reasonable price point and with free international shipping until the end of the year (for purchases over USD50.00) it’s hard not to add a few to the cart. Going forward however I will be sticking to the lippie stix because the formulas for the matte liquid lipsticks are inconsistent. Some are smooth, lightweight and velvety while others are drying, tacky and feel uncomfortable on the lips.

Lumiere 2 is supposed to be the liquid lipstick version of the lippie stix Lumiere (a pink mauve) however on me it comes out two shades lighter and appears more cool tone so that it washes me out.

The wand applicator is more of a rounded doe foot without precision so much so that I find that I always have to clean up the edges of my lips. The dry down of Lumiere 2 is a tad patchy because it dries down lighter in some areas and darker in others to the point that I can see a bit of my skin coming through. It's not overly noticeable but as it begins to fade it becomes obvious.

It felt comfortable to wear but begins fading within 3 hours and the product (same with Viper) begins to break away quite badly in the inside of your mouth leaving you with a ghastly-looking rim. I retouch it by applying another layer and I make sure to wipe off the excess as I don’t want any build-up of product. I found that this particular shade becomes rather tacky (like drying glue) to the point that it’s too uncomfortable to wear because it feels like you’re walking around with something stuck on your lips.

Viper is a gorgeous berry mauve. The colour on the skin looks so much better than what you see in the tube and it's a shade I feel anyone can rock. Viper feels so lightweight that I can wear this comfortably for most of the day with probably two touch ups. Unlike Lumiere 2, this shade doesn’t emphasise the lines as much.

Out of the shades I own, I would definitely go for the berry shades as they just seem to perform better and feel good on the lips. I have no intention of repurchasing these again.

ColorPop Ultra Matte Lip colour

I had to see what all the hype was about by trying this brand and yes they dried matte but I do not like the way my lips felt I already seems to get dry lips and they look aged and cracked perhaps too much exposure from sun or perhaps as when I was younger I used acne fighting medicines that made me extra easily damaged by the sun and they dried and cracked my lips. Anyway I think these just emphasize the cracked lips and dry them out even more. The logo scratched off super quickly sadly. If you use these you really need to prep your lips with a balm. I think they are okay but not my cup of tea they do not suit me I prefer something that does not feel dry on my lips.

Too matte for me!

I purchased 2 of these recently when Colorpop decided to do free shipping to NZ. I jumped in on an order to help a friend get the free, and from memory they arrived pretty quickly.

I bought the shades Privacy Please and Zipper. Both are purpley colors. Privacy Please is almost like the color of the lip rating on BR, and Zipper is a darker purple. They're both gorgeous but unfortunately I have issues with them!

They're super matte, I find that Zipper dries down really fast and makes my lips feel weird and tight - and I really hate that feeling. Privacy Please is slightly better, it doesn't dry as tight or feel as annoying on the lips. I haven't been able to wear Zipper all day, let alone for 5 minutes, but Privacy Please lasts all of the day.

I found both of them super hard to remove, so depending on how you look at it, they last a long time! I'd recommend them for that reason but otherwise I'm not overly fond of them, and I wouldn't buy them again.

Almost like Kylie

If you want the same formula like Kylie (but different smell) by all means this is the Matte Lipstick that you should get. It's really matte as how it says but OMG my lips were like dry. Sahara dessert dry. I had prep my lips with scrub and moisturizer but gee something just suck the moisture out of lips! it flakes after a few hours and not transfer proof. Kiss your man and he will have flakes everywhere. (You will end up getting the "stare).

Tips: it will loose the "Matte" feeling but try adding a lip gloss on top.

Disappointing colour pay off

I wanted to love these, after using the ultra satin liquid lips and finding them so easy to use and reliable in their shades... I find with the ultra matta lip they come out a lot darker on me and it seems like a waste when I love the colour in the tube but hate what it looks like on my lips. THe worst for me was the 'nude' range of shades, consistently pulling very dark and cool with an obvious blue undertone that wasn't visible before putting it on.

Tips: Exfoliate like your life depends on it, and use an oil based two step remover at the end of the day to get it off. It sticks to everything it touches before it dries, and if you get it on clothing it does NOT come out.

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip

I was so excited to try these lipsticks, but when I tried one for the first time I was so disappointed. I tried Beeper and initially it was nice; the application was good and I liked the formula. However about an hour later I felt the lipstick crumble off my lips. It was terrible, it all crumbled off and made my lips extremely dry. I would only recommend these if you have really well moisturised lips and/or you can afford to touch up your lipstick multiple times a day.

Tips: Try their Ultra Satin lips, they work much better.
