Lush Looking Lashes

First off thanks so much BR for giving me the opportunity to be part of this trial. I had just run out of mascara so this was perfect timing for me.

It comes in a gorgeous metallic silver tube. I find it visually appealing. I however don't feel the need for the box it comes in. Just a waste of packaging to me. It came in black which is the only colour I ever use. The tube is quite chunky but it is easy to hold.

The brush has short bristles, it does a great job at coating my lashes and defining them. The formula is more on the dry side, I find one coat is all I can do otherwise it starts to clump, especially on my outer lashes. But one coat is really all I need so I'm ok with that.

My lashes are instantly noticeably longer and lush looking.  They fan out beautifully and are definitely more dramatic than the previous mascara I was using. I really love how they look.

I get no transfer or flaking at all. It stays put all day long until I remove with micellar water. This is a really great mascara for both day and night. A great affordable price also.

No clump false lash look

This mascara applied amazing three coats and i had no clumps. It definitely give you a subtle false lash look. I got asked if i got lash extensions when i wore this to work.

The wand is medium sized so not too big if you have small eyes.

The fourmula isn't too wet. Which is amazing when applying but maybe once mascara is open for a while could cause it to dry out faster.

The only issue I had was at the end of the work day (9 hour shift), I did get some flakes of mascara under my eyes. Could be formula or just the humid weather.

Over all loved the effect the mascara gave me!

A good mascara for a natural look

I'm a huge fan of drugstore mascaras. I have used a few Maybelline and LÓreal ones before in the past and have quite liked them.

This LÓreal mascara is in a classic silver tube. I like that the brush are silicone bristles, my favourite kind of brush.

At first, I thought this mascara was quite thin and didn't do much for my lashes. The brush also got mascara on my upper eyelid, which is annoying when I've just put on eyeshadow.

However, I took care to apply this better without touching my eyelid, and a few coats later, my eyelashes were lovely, fluttery and long.

While I didn't look like I was wearing falsies, it did open up my eyes and made them look separated and long. If you're after a volumising mascara, this isn't it.

Tips: Use a card or tissues to protect your eyelids from mascara as it may get messy.

Really nice!

This was one of my favourite products in the L'oreal trial team! Almost everything about this mascara was perfect for me. The wand is wide enough that it separates your lashes well, but you don't have to worry about stabbing yourself in the eye!

I found that this mascara was amazing for separation and length, and I definitely agree that it gives a doe-eyed look. My only complaint is that it doesn't really lift your lashes and curl them, whereas some mascaras hold the curl in your lashes really well.

The formula isn't too dry and isn't too wet, it's a good in between texture. The other thing about this mascara is that it can smudge if your skin gets oily or wet. I think this mascara in a water proof form would be perfect!

Tips: Make sure to powder under your eyes to help reduce smudging.

Not quite up to the hype

L'Oreal Paris Bambi False Lash Mascara promises a "bigger, wider, doe-eyed look" but for me, that didn't eventuate.

The product is a beautiful silver case which stands out (especially in the depths of a handbag) and is a more angular shape than other mascaras. The brush is passable - nothing revolutionary.

The mascara itself isn't black black, but rather more of a muddy grey/black. It seems weird but it does dry to be quite dark. It glides on easily without clumps and the brush does an acceptable job.

But I failed to see the "bambi" eye or the "false lash". My outer corner lashes did curl a smidgen, but that was all. The others were much the same, just with mascara on them. I tried it on one eye for the night (at home!) and honestly, there was no discernible difference in curl or eye-opening effect. When I wore it out in the daytime, nobody mentioned anything about my mascara, so it obviously didn't look overly different. It didn't look like I was wearing false eyelashes either. Sadly, this mascara offered no difference to any other mascara that I currently use. It didn't live up to it's promises sadly.

In saying that, it's still a decent mascara. It wasn't clumpy, it didn't smudge (even in the middle of hayfever season!), but it was also relatively easy to remove. I'll definitely use it all up, but I won't be in a hurry to replace it. There's plenty of mascara that does the same for less.

I had hopes this mascara would mean I could ditch (or at least ease up) on my eyelash curler. While I'm not so naive to think it would replace it, or offer something better, it was disappointing it did nothing of the sort. Just the merest hint of a curl in a corner. Disappointing.

Tips: Don't ditch the eyelash curler just yet.

False hope for falsh lashes

This L'Oreal product is described as a 'bambi eye false lash mascara" but I found it completely underwhelming, especially for the $30.99 price tag. It was completely serviceable but the packaging hyperbole was not my experience. It did not give me large lashes, like the a lowercase "bambi", but it did give me grocery-run lashes. The silver plastic tube looks like a surgical instrument with it's steely point. The spoolie has a nice feel with short rounded bristles and this was easy to use.

Tips: Perhaps layer this for more definition

Not all that fabulous

I received this from the last beauty vault and really was hoping that this would be my holy grail mascara, unfortunately I am still searching.I found the formula was quite wet to apply and once dry,it was hard to build up on my lashes.Where was my doe eyed look? all it did was darken and lengthen my lashes but there was no curl and no volume to them.My lashes are very fair,a bit sparse in areas but they are an average length,I wanted more volume and the curl.It is an ok mascara but it did not give me a false lash look.I don't think I would purchase this as it just doesn't seem to give me the look I am looking for or be value for money.

A miss for me unfortunately

I've seen the ads for this mascara and the claims sounded promising. Unfortunately this just didn't live up to the hype for me. My lashes are sparse, short-ish and I have oily lids. The formulation isn't humidity proof so I found slight panda eyes by the end of the day. I didn't see much lengthening action either, but I did like that it didn't clump. However I think if you have longer thicker lashes, this might be the mascara for you.

Misses the mark

Mascara is my most used beauty product and I'm always looking to try the latest and greatest! My lashes are sparse, short, and extremely straight so mascaras that curl, lengthen AND thicken are what I aim for but 2/3 will usually do the trick - so a mascara promising that it 'curls lash by lash to create bigger, wider, doe-eyed look. Black velvet formula for elongated and defined lashes.' definitely sounded up my alley!

Unfortunately, it didn't deliver on the curl promise at all. The first day I wore it I tried it without my lash curler and was extremely disappointed in the results.

The other days I used my trusty curler first to get something resembling shape out of my lashes... and was still disappointed. While it definitely delivers beautifully on length, it didn't add much in the way of volume at all. My lashes looked lovely and long, but remained very sparse.

If you have naturally thick lashes and use a curler (or they're naturally curly too, you lucky thing you) then I think this formula would be perfect for you to add length and definition. For me, though, it was a real flop as I desperately need a bit more volume from a mascara or for it to at least save me the effort of curling my lashes.

Black Velvet

L'Oreal Paris False Lash Bambi Eye Mascara in 'Black Velvet' promises a "doe-eye look, eye opening effect."

This mascara is packaged in a shiny silver torpedo-shaped or "D" shaped tube.  The flat, "Bambi Eye False Lash" printed side of the tube does help it to stop rolling off a flat surface, but it kind of ruins the sleek looking effect of this tube.

It contains 8.9mls of mascara, and the wand applicator is bulbous and chunky.  Personally, I'm not a fan of fat, wide mascara applicators.  I do prefer a more classic, slender mascara wand, but that's just personal preference and isn't a bad reflection on this product.

The consistency of the mascara formula is quite thin, so it coats every eyelash individually, without clumping.  I didn't really find that this mascara curled or elongated my lashes as much as other mascaras do, and I definitely didn't end up with a "doe-eyed" effect.

To get a slight 'false lash' effect, I did have to apply one coat of the Bambi Eye mascara to one eye, then apply one coat to the other eye while that coat dried, then go back and apply a second coat of mascara over the first (dried) layer.  Continuing to wait for coats to dry between applications until I had reached the desired look.

Usually I apply numerous coats of mascara to one eye at a time, to prevent the mascara from drying and clumping, but that doesn't work with this one.  Instead, if I keep applying more coats to one eye, I found that the mascara clumped and stuck my lashes together.  It's definitely better to wait for it to dry between coats, with this one.

Personally, I'm not all that impressed, and I get a better effect from a really cheap mascara. I don't like the fat wand, there was no lash curling effect as promised, if anything, it made my lashes stick out more straight than curling them upwards, and it feels like an average mascara that's promising big things.  The only thing that it does have going for it is that the mascara doesn't flake or transfer into 'panda eyes' on the lower lashes during the course of the day.  Once it's on, it stays where you put it. Sadly, that's not enough to make me want to purchase another tube of this when the time comes for me to replace it.

Tips: Wait for it to dry between coats, and apply more coats until you get the effect you're looking for.
