I picked this out in the last vault opening as I didn't get on the trial. I don't usually use these types of nail products so thought i'd give it a go. I had the Barely Laced set (medium length, oval shape) Love the sleek white packaging. You can clearly see the nail design through the front panel. The set includes:24 reuseable nails (12 different nail sizes), glue, nail file and instructions. No cuticle pusher is included, you may need to have your own if you prefer to use these.
I really like the design of this nails. It took me longer than I thought it would to apply. 45 mins total. I found the glue being clear and the nails being pale pink, I couldn't really see where it was being applied. I also applied the glue to the middle of the nail. About 1mm form the base of the nail, 2mm from the tip. Doing this ensured that I didn't have excess glue when pressing the nail on.
I did follow the instructions for the 10 day wear. (There is also directions for 3 day wear if you plan to reuse nails) Day 1 of wear I had one nail come off but that may be because I didn't apply enough glue. Day 3 of wear I broke a nail vertically closing a car door. Day 4 I lost a nail at an appointment. I took them all off yesterday Day 8. Removal was easy and hardly any damage to my real nails.
I really like these nails. They come in a variety of designs and lengths. Would be great for a special event. Also cheaper than a salon manicure but will give salon look results. I did get compliments while wearing these. Also the nails didn't feel heavy or uncomfortable compared to when I get arcrylic nails.
I still prefer my nail polish strips as they are easier and faster for me to apply. However these are a great alternative. I have seen them on sale recently too. I would repurchase these for a special occasion but wouldn't recommend them for long wear, 3 days max.
For my Teddy lane nail trial I choose the shade Kristin from the classic collection. This is a lovely nudey/pink shade which is a prefect shade for everyday wear.
On opening the nails my first impressions were how lovely and natural they look unlike other false nails I have seen before (obviously this depends on which collection you go for). They feel very smooth to touch and have a lovely glossy finish.
What is fantastic about this brand of nails is that they have so many different collections and choices within each range. I have very short nails so didn’t want them too long in length. The ones I chose were prefect as they were medium in length. Everything needed apart from a cuticle stick is include in the pack which includes 24 nails in 12 different sizes, a nail file and glue and off course instructions.
I did find that the application of the nails does require a bit of time. I am a bit of a novice when it comes to applying false nails so perhaps I would get faster and find it easier the more I did it. I definitely can’t stress enough how important it is to properly follow the instructions provided and to do good prep work of your own nails before hand. I was so excited when these arrived that I skip the step or using a cuticle stick to push back extra skin the first few times I apply the nails and found the result wasn’t as neat as the rest.
The only issue I had was finding the right size to fit my thumb and my little finger but the nails are easy enough to file down to size and this didn’t appear to affect the strength or quality of the false nails. The nail sizes are numbered on the back too so it easy to make sure you get the same size nail on each hand.
As I only wanted to wear them for a few days I followed the 1-3 day wear time instructions which meant only using a thin strip or a dot of glue in the centre of the nail. I was a bit concerned that they might not last the full 3 days using only a small dot of glue but the false nails felt very sturdy on once dried and didn’t chip during the 3 days. So I can definitely reuse them again.
When I went to remove my nails I soaked them in reasonably hot water for a good few minutes and then gently lifted the nails off using a cuticle stick. My natural nails didn’t look damaged or appear any more brittle from wearing them and the removal process of soaking in hot water is easy and did work.
I believe they are good quality as they look very natural and felt very sturdy on but I would probably only use them for special occasions as they would get expensive for every day use and they did take a bit of time to apply properly.
Tips: Wear dish gloves if doing dishes by hand as the hot water will loosen them.
