LOVE LOVE LOVE

Pigmentation is AH-MAZ-ING! They last all day, and the price is very reasonable!

The texture of these are quite different to what I've seen before, and can be quite difficult to use. They feel like a mousse, which makes them very hard to apply with a brush, I tend to use my finger and use a clean brush to blend if I need to.

Although they can be difficult to apply, and the exchange rate makes them a bit pricey, I feel like they are 100% worth it! The pigmentation is amazing, the quality is superb, and the colours are so beautiful! I have the KathleenLights quad and a few pinky shades, and I feel like I need more!

Tips: Apply with finger, and blend with a clean blending brush

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

Maybe it's witchcraft in the form of an eyeshadow!

Lets start with the outside and work our way in - the packaging is super cute - white screw top that sits deep over the outside to help prevent the product drying out and there is a multidimensional logo on the lid with the colour name on the bottom. Shame they don't put the finish type on the bottom though.

Inside, is this like spongy product, maybe even like a mousse. Like no other product I've ever touched before. I only got the one shadow so far, but this is a gateway shadow that will lead to many other shadows. I got Smash which is a satin finish in warm beige with gold flecks. It's almost a nude on my medium skin, but it's like a "my lids but better" shade if ya know what I mean! It was a bit lighter than I expected to be honest because it looks really nice in the pot.

12 hours later, this hasn't creased. I didn't even go full on primer on my lids either. Just some Mac Painterly underneath to bring out the best colour possible. I just used my finger to do the application and it was all that the magic needed to stay all day.

Tips: Lid tight so it doesn't dry out and the unicorns don't escape from this product.

Super Shocked, who would have thought

Everyone in the beauty world has heard about colourpop. Its only around 1 year old, but it has taken the beauty world by storm because it makes affordable, high quality makeup products, and when i say affordable, i mean $5 usd. Pretty cheap considering how much other makeup products are.

These eyeshadows are packaged cheaply, but what do you expect when you pay such a small price for them. They come in a plastic container that has a screw top lid, and a see through lid which has the world 'colourpop'.

What makes this product really unique, is its consistency. The eye shadow is creamy, but slightly spongy, and slightly mousse like. I know that might not seem very helpful, but it is a hard consistency to describe. If you press your finger into the eye shadow, it will leave an imprint.

I find the easiest way to apply these eye shadows is actually with my finger. and then i use a brush to blend and create the eyelook i want.

I find these eyeshadows are extremely long lasting, and can almost even stain my skin because they last that long! Colourpop eyeshadows come in an impressive range of colours and finishes. I do have to say some of the pearlized shadows can be a bit too sparkly for me, but still great for a dramatic eye.

Overall, these eyeshadows are a must try for everyone. However, i will say that it might sound cheap initially, but when you buy lots of shades, the price quickly adds up and you could buy a higher end palette. In saying that, because coloupop eye shadows are sold individually so you get to custom pick the shades you want which is always awesome.

La La - Rose gold goodness

Out of all the rose gold makeup I own 'La La' by far is the most stunning example of the shade. The online swatches do it no justice!

I bought my lot off of the Colourpop website and had it shipped via Shipito to NZ even though Colourpop ship direct to NZ. For the quality you get, these are unbelievably affordable however be mindful of the exchange rate.

I like the simple white packaging with the see-through screw top however it's not the most user friendly when you're in a rush. If you forget to close it you'll be greeted with dry product the next time round but it's nothing a little MAC Fix Plus and a bit of pressure can't fix.

When I originally tested the shadow I used a flat eyeshadow brush to pat on the colour but I felt the product clung to the bristles and the finish looked rather patchy. I prefer instead to pat the product on with clean fingers - you're left with great pigmentation, even coverage and a goregeous metallic finish.

What I love most about these shadows is you can go in with your powder shadows and still be able to blend the product in without it looking caked on.

I have oily lids so unfortunately due to the creamy nature of the shadow it'll begin fading by the 5th to 6th hour (or without primer within 3 to 4 hours) so I tend to reserve these types of shadows for when I'm going out for a short period of time.

Tips: Prime my lids, pat on the shadow using my finger then smoke the corners out with a burgundy brown using a brush.

Brilliant colour pay off

Colour Pop is an American brand that I became aware of through instagram. Their eye shadows have been featured in the up and coming back up trends over the past year. Before purchasing these eye shadows I didn't know that they are cream shadows. I had brought a couple of these shadows through an online market place.

The two colours that I purchased is Hustle (Purple) and Roulette (Black) both Matte. These shadows come in these small white pots. I like that the lid is clear so that you can see the colour of the eye shadow behind it. This shadow has colour pop written across the front of this pot. I was surprised at how sturdy the pot was. This shadow is creamy . It was surprisingly pigmented.

I didn't use a eye shadow primer with this shadow and the colour pay off was good. I wore these eye shadows all day and I didn't experience any wear. I was so happy because my eye shadow normally fades away. Overall I was really impressed with these eye shadows and I really would like to purchase more. I think their priced affordably. Awesome colour pay off.

Shadow shock

A single pottle of shadow shade that has engraved affect on it. The sleek pottle is white and good in size the lid is a screw top with a clear plastic viewing part thar has printing colorpop across it. Hanky Panky is the shade I have it's matte. It looks as if there is a sparkle in there but there isn't it. By appearance you think its a powder but by feel it's a cream powder so dense and pressed but to touch it's soft and buttery cream texture yet stays dense packed. Colour pay off is very nice however the texture causing issues with a flat shadow shading brush because it sticks to the bristles. Application with a clean finger gives best results. In saying that blending is a breeze. I really think these are a good product and the price seems affordable although I was gifted mine. I think everyone needs at least one item from this brand.

Tips: Try applying with your ring finger for lids.

SHOCKingly Good!

I own the two shades Hustle and To-A-T. Overall impression: incredible (especially for the price). I got To-A-T because the colour is a matte, brown shade which is perfect as a base colour for my lids (or a crease colour for those who have fairer skin than I). The colour is very near to my skin tone so it provides me with a blank canvas for my eyes, almost acts as a concealer to cover up my dark circles. Hustle, on the other hand, is a gorgeous matte dark purple. It is a super buildable colour that can either be applied at its utmost sheerest purple stage or a super dark, blackened purple once colour is packed on.

The actual consistency of the eyeshadows (like all Colourpop products) is very strange. It is almost like a putty texture that dents when touched even gently. I love the texture. It feels very smooth, soft and almost creamy which all contributes to its intense pigmentation with only a few swipes with the finger. The eyeshadows apply so fantastically and blend so effortlessly that it's hard to believe that they only come at $5USD a pop (insane).

The packaging is super cute and aesthetic. The individual eyeshadows come in boxes, similar to that of Mac. The product sits in wee pots with screw on lids, weilding the shade info and a little window so you can see the colour in all its beauty.

All in all, absolutely love Colourpop products and will, without a doubt, be ordering from them again.

Tips: Screw on the lid sufficiently tight so that the magical stuff inside doesn't dry out (what a waste that would be!). Also, apply the eyeshadows with you finger if you want the utmost product on your lids. If you want precision then just use your brush but remember the strange consistency may limit the amount of product you can otherwise apply more of with the use of your finger.

I'm not a fan

I currently own two of these shadows. I say currently because I had close to 20 of them last year when I had gotten caught in the hype of them but then I quickly realised that I really dislike these!

I have the shades Lectra which is a metallic purple and Onai which is a pink satin shade. These are both really pretty colours. The purple is intense and Onai is a perfect inner corner highlight shade, brightening but not so in your face that it looks crazy.

These come packaged separately in little white screw top jars. I think the packaging is not appealing. I think it's the white, I did used to have their special birthday shade which came in a pink tub and I thought that looked really cute. Even black or pretty much any other colour would look better. Or even mattes, glitters and metallics to reflect on the colours within? Anyway, the reason these come in their own container is because these have a unique cream texture that would dry out if it was in a normal palette. I personally prefer palettes over singles but I understand the reasoning behind this packaging.

Now, something I don't see a lot of people talk about is that these only have a shelf life of around a year before they will dry out. Even the ones I have are less than a year old and are always screwed tightly shut but they have lost the nice mousse texture and are quite hard to the touch now but are still just usable.

This short shelf life was part of the reason why I got rid of most of mine. The other big reason is I just find them hard to use. They are best applied with your finger but obviously you can't be too accurate like that and I don't find they blend well with a brush. Yes, these have incredible pigmentation and any swatches look beautiful but to me that means nothing if it's harder to work with on your eyes. These also crease badly on me. The lasting power is reasonable, they don't fade straight away but it won't last all day.

The reason I kept these two is because purple is my favourite colour for eyeshadow, not that I reach for this often! And the other one I had pushed my brush in to see how far down it went in the jar (not very far, these are quite shallow pans). I do use this one pretty much everyday, not because it's a holy grail but because I'd like to use as much of it up as I can before it completely dries up.

Another downside is cost. Yes these are only $5 each but that's US, the shipping prices are horrendous as well.

I would never buy these again and I just couldn't recommend them to anyone.

Great pigment

OMG I love this product. From the moment I opened the box I was impressed. You could really see that they took care of the product by protecting it so well and the box was so cool (you can turn it inside-out and use it as a decorative box)... stepping aside from the impressive postage, I was doubly pleased with the product.

Pros: - Amazing pigmentation - Great variety of colours - Love the putty texture

Cons: - Not for people who love to work with pallets, the separate cases can take up a lot of space. - You can get the best results using your fingers, however, my fingers are too un-co and I've yet to master the art of blending the product properly, so it can be difficult to sometimes use the product. - Product is stated to only have a shelf life of 1 year before it dries out

Central Perk

At first I wasn't too sure how much I would like these shadows because I haven't had the best luck with cream or mousse eye shadows but I love these so much, even the matte ones which really worried me, they blend so easily and are super pigmented, they're super affordable (although postage is pretty expensive) The only downside is that since they're a mousse, they need to stay in their sealed packaging so they don't dry out so you can't put them in a palette, so storing them can be a bit of a problem. Other than that I'm obsessed and definitely need more.
