magic lumi primer

I love this illuminating primer. I use it on the high points of my face as a primer and then i mix it with my foundation for the perfect Dewey look. Great drug store product and super affordable.

Tips: Try mixing it with your foundation.

Doesn't do it for me

This was a primer I had to get my hands on after I swatched it in farmers and fell in love. It made my hand shimmery, glowy, and looking amazing. Then I watched a vlogger use this in a tutorial and that was the nail in my coffin, and I brought this product the next time I saw it.

The product actually has lovely packaging. It comes with a pearly white and gold colour theme, which I think looks nice and reflects the actual product which is something that makes sense to me. The packaging has a pump like feature which is used to dispense the product. It’s really effective, and means that not much product would be wasted at the bottom of the container.

This primer is a lovely texture. Its thin compared to other primers I’ve tried, but it doesn’t run anywhere. Plus it has almost a slightly creaminess to it which I like. It has a beautiful luminosity to it, with a shimmer component, and let me say it is shimmery but there are no chunks of glitter, so it gives your skin a nice glow, not a sparkly mess. Bonus.

This primer does give my skin a nice glow, and a dewy look. But in saying that, once foundation is applied you can hardly notice it, and then I find it’s not as long lasting as I would have hoped, and when I look in the mirror before lunch, I can hardly notice the dewiness that I saw in the morning. Not ideal.

Overall, the effects of this primer are short lasting, and honestly, I could probably recreate this formula by mixing some of my high beam into a primer that actually is long lasting to create a similar effect so I won’t be repurchasing this.

Great review! I was still undecided whether to buy this because it swatched so beautifully but good to know that I'm not missing out on much :-)

very subtle illumination

I bought this product about a year ago because I saw shaaanxo raving about it on her YouTube channel. I'm really into glowing skin so I thought it sounded great. The retail price here Is ridiculous and I would never pay that much for it. Luckily I was able to find it online for about half the price, still expensive though considering this is only a 20ml product.

Anyway, it comes in a sleek little tube and it has a convenient pump applicator which also keeps things hygienic as well.

The product itself is a white, slightly metallic looking, runny lotion. You only need a small amount to do your whole face which is good since it means the small amount of product in the tube It'll go a long way.

After rubbing this into my face, I can definitely see a glow and shine. I personally wouldn't use this product by itself but I have acne and redness to cover. If you had clear skin that was just a bit dull, I think this would look so good by itself.

I've been using this under my favorite Korean bb cream. It possibly helps my makeup stay longer but i barely notice a difference in glow when I'm not using this primer. I'd love to have a product that would erase the need for highlighter but this product doesn't do that for me. Maybe with a matte foundation but i have dry skin so i stay clear of anything that says matte as that usually translates to 'will search out and cling to any dry patches'.

Overall, this product is pretty average to me. I will continue to use my tube all up (I'm just over half done with it) but for how expensive it is, I wouldn't buy it again.

Tips: Make sure you shake the product first. Mine had been sitting for a while and had gone watery so I pumped it down the sink until it went thicker but then realized it would have just needed a Shakeup!

Lovely primer

This primer is delicious. It adds a glow and hydration to my skin. It sits wonderfully underneath my foundations and rivals my high end primers. It's a really liquidy consistency and doesn't necessarily fill in pores but it does smooth your skin, allowing product to apply well on top of it. The primer comes in a super hygenic pump dispenser that I find pumps out the perfect amount for my whole face. I can't comment on the increased longevity as my foundation usually stays on all day however it doesn't make it wear off any faster which is a definite positive. The price point is really good and I would say it was very comparable to my hourglass mineral veil primer in both texture and use. I take a pump in between my fingers and then pat it over my entire face, I find this is the best way to ensure it sinks in and does the best job that it can.

Tips: Spot prime your t-zone with a pore filling primer in conjunction with this in all other areas of your face if you need some pore filling in those areas but still want the glow.

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer

I got into using this primer when I saw Shaaanxo raving about it on her channel and thought I ought to try it out for myself. I love the pump dispenser, and find that two pumps will do my entire face. The consistency is really smooth and it applies easily to the skin, and feels very moisturising. It leaves a dewy finish which slightly shows through under foundation, which I like, and definitely prolongs the wear-time of my makeup. The only complaint I have is that it's really expensive for a very small amount of product!

Tips: Less is more!

Amazing but on the expensive side.

Firstly, I just want to talk about the price of this. You don't get a massive amount for the price, so I am always hesitant using it - because I don't want to replace it! I'm still unsure if it's worth full price yet, but it's great if you can take advantage of one of farmers specials. Okay - onto the formula. This product is raved about because it deserves to be. It's so refreshingly hydrating - which is amazing for my dry/dehydrated skin. It's illuminating - not over the top illuminating, but just enough that it gives a beautiful dewey finish once you have foundation applied over top - but if you wanted to avoid the dewey look, a matt powder should take away most of the illumination. This is one of my favourite primers - It applies so smoothly, hydrates my skin, and creates a beautiful, soft canvas for applying make-up.

Tips: Wait until you can get it on special - Farmers or Life Pharmacy often have them on.

Love my some dewy skin!

I wanted to buy MAC strobe cream but heard this was a dupe for it so thought I would try it first to see if I liked it before I shelled out the money for the strobe cream.

I don't even need to buy the strobe cream now because I LOVE THIS! Its definitley a dupe for the strobe cream from what I have noticed but the plus side is the packaging is smaller and easy to store and is so much cheaper!

The texture is quite thin making it easy to spread and doesnt have a smell (from what I can tell) which makes it pleasant to use. Its a white shimmery colour which fades away when applied and leaves a beautiful glow to the skin.

I've had this tube for so long and a little goes a long way, I usually use 1 pump to do my whole face, sometimes two when I'm feeling a little dull and want some extra glow. I didnt find it helped my foundation last any longer than usual so I usually use another primer with it.

I will be buying this again when it eventually runs out!

Tips: Mix a little with your foundation for a beautiful glow instead of applying straight to the skin if you want to use a different primer :)

Pricey

I love this product. I don't find that it helps my makeup stay on any longer - but i never have a problem with it wearing off. It provides a gorgeous glowy complexion. To be honest i have rated this lower as in NZ it is just too expensive. There are other comparable products that are much cheaper and do the same thing. Come on NZ do something about your extreme prices!!!

Tips: I like to mix foundations like MAC Studio Fix with this product to make them more glowy but still keep the long wearingness of the foundation. Wow great english lol sorry guys xx

Really Love This

For me, a dewy finish is a must with my foundation, so putting this on underneath just makes my skin glow and gives me a slightly dewy finish with my BB Creams. It definitely makes my foundation last longer and I find it helps stop me from getting oily or sweaty in the hotter weather. It definitely provides a nice, smooth canvas for my face. I usually love very silicone-y based primers such as the Porefessional so I'm quite surprised by how much I love this. I do wear it on its own when I don't want any foundation on my face and it makes me look so healthy and glowing. Also as a highlight it works wonders, I do have cheekbones after all!

One pump very easily covers my entire face and unless I want to use a little bit as a highlight, a single pump is all that I need.

It isn't shimmery at all, is a white colour and quite thin consistency compared to silicone based primers such as the previously mentioned Porefessional. I also find it goes over my dry patches quite well.

One con I think some people will find, especially when paying full price, is that the bottle seems quite small for the amount you pay. I don't mind, personally, because I bought mine for $17 online.

The packaging is a very sturdy plastic bottle with a little pump on the top that just gives the perfect amount of product and makes it super easy to control the amount you want. It definitely doesn't look cheap at all. I also love the little gold band/lettering.

Mine came without a lid which is how I got it so cheap and I haven't had any problems with the product going bad or drying out.

So basically I love this product so much and I'm likely to repurchase it.

Tips: Use a little bit as a highlight, or even use on its own on those minimal make up days to give you beautiful, glowy skin!

L'Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer

Gosh I love this as much as my mac strobe cream, it does the same thing for 1/4 of the price. Its beautiful on its own, as a makeup base or as an illuminator/highlighter on my cheeks, nose and chin. The consistency is a bit thin but its goes on and blends nicely. I paid $15 on a beauty selling site on facebook. This is a must n my kit!

Tips: Try it as a base, alone or as a highlighter
