L'Oreal Paris Pure Clay Purifying Charcoal Mask Review

Don't you love a good product that you can pick up from the supermarket?! I know this will be a regular buy for me from now on, its so good!

The packaging is classy and applying the mask was easy - I just used my fingers to spread a thin layer over my face. I left for the recommended time of 10-15 minutes before washing off with warm water and a face cloth.

It did take a bit of scrubbing around my nose to remove completely but overall it was a pretty easy task.

My skin was glowing immediately - it felt incredibly smooth and rejuvenated.

I've been using this mask every four days, I LOVE IT, in fact I think it might be the best face mask I've used!

I ran out of my usual Lush facemask, was sick of spending money on single use sachets and hadn't had time to head down that end of town to pick up more from Lush - so found this at the Warehouse next to my gym. I'm really impressed with it to be honest - it always feels like its doing its job, plus the dark colour makes it LOOK like you're doing some pampering!!

I was excited to try this product thanks to BR! It comes in a 50ml tub and is super easy to apply. I had no issues simply applying with my fingers. I left it on for about 10 minutes and washed it off with a warm flannel. I have sensitive skin so it can be difficult finding face masks that don't irritate my skin or leave it feeling hot and itchy. However this one worked a treat. My skin did feel a little tight afterwards but nothing moisturizer can't fix. The mask left my skin feeling smoother, refreshed and more vibrant. Overall I enjoyed using it and I really liked that you could see all the oils being pulled from your skin.

I didn't think I would like this mask as I'm not a huge fan of Loreal, however I was pleasantly surprised after I used this for the first time.

So a little bit about packaging - comes in a generous size glass jar, and easy to get the product out which is great.

Formula is not too thick but its not thin either which is how I like my masks. I used an old makeup brush to apply it as it didn't come with a little spatula and didn't want to get it all over my fingers as it can get a bit messy. It actually feels a bit creamy too, and super smooth.

When you apply it, it is pretty cold (great for summer, not so much winter brrr) and because of how smooth it is, it just glides on flawlessly. It starts out a dark grey colour and then once it dries, becomes a very light grey and becomes pretty tight. Then I just washed it off with a cloth and hot water.

Would I recommend it? Most definitely. It really draws out the toxins in your skin and leaves it feeling clean and visibly clearer. Once your skin is dry, your skin feels really soft. I really do love it and I'm super fussy.

I'm normally not a big fan of L'Oreal products. I find them a bit overrated, so going into this trial I wasn't expecting much. However, my opinion changed after my first use and I think this is one of my favourite masks! This mask looks like any other charcoal mask, and the packinging is very nice. I used the mask straight after my shower (after using the face wash from the line) while my pores were still open. It is quite a small jar, but you don't need to use a lot of it - a thin layer will do. I left it on for 10 mins like it said and took it off using a warm face cloth. This was where I started to see some magic happening. As I was taking the mask off, I could see that it had pulled gunk from my pores. I was so shocked. I thought my skin was already cleaned but I guess this stuff was deep down, once it was all off, I did a quick rinse with cold water to close my pores. Straight after my first use I could definitely see some changes. My pores were visibly smaller, my skin looked a lot brighter and clearer! I had a few pimples on my face at the time and the smaller ones looked less red and appeared as if they had reduced in size. I followed with my normal routine - toner and sweet almond oil. My partner even mentioned that my skin looked glowing and healthy. At this point I was already converted but the next day when I woke up, my mind was made up. This was my new fav. I had to big blind pimples on my chin that were red and sore. The next morning the redness was gone and they had significantly reduced in size! I couldn't believe it! Another bonus is that it didn't over dry my skin - even though I have combo skin, whenever I use a charcoal mask, it dries out my skin around my pimples and it just didn't do that with me! Thanks beauty review for picking me for this trial! I can't believe I am typing this, but this product is a game changer for me :)

Wow!!! I am totally in love with this pure clay mask by l'Oreal. It has a thick consistency but when applied to the skin it feels so lovely and fresh. I applied less the second time I used it and I feel that less is better. It dried quicker too when less is applied. It has a nice tight feeling on the skin. It's really easy to apply and wash off is easy just use a warm flannel. I am so stoked with the way my skin feels after using this product for even a short time. My skin feels clean, fresh and literally like I've just had a facial. I will definitely buy this product in the future and also recommend to my family and friends as they need to know how good this is. It's my favourite thing I have reviewed so far!!!

Loving the packaging too!!!

I really loved the pure clay mask! I found a little bit goes a long way. I put a thin layer on and found it to be a little thicker then other clay masks but I really like this one. Even my daughters wanted to try this mask out. Its super easy to put on and take off. It left my skin feeling amazing! So fresh and smooth. It's not overly priced and I think you will get quite a lot of masks out of it. I would definitely recommend this product to friends and family. And will make sure it's on my list of things to buy once I have run out.

I used this a while ago before moving onto to trying the Origins rose clay face mask. The L'Oreal mask was quite thick and spread easily. Eventually I used the entire tub, which took me around 4 months, using it once a week most of the time. It definitely minimises blackheads and texture. I wouldn't go as far as saying it fully removes and draws out everything. However, if used consistently once per week the results are pretty close. For a clay mask, it is not difficult to remove at all. It comes off easy and skin feels softer, smoother, and more refined. I do have combination skin, more on the dry side. Therefore, using this mask twice a week left my skin tight and dry, however people with oil skin could definitely use this twice a week.

After trying all 3 original L'oreal clay masks, this would be my least favourite. I don't think the charcoal purifies better than the other masks and my skin doesn't feel any less oily after using this. However as a mask, it does the job, spreading well and washes off easily leaving my skin feeling fresh and clean.

I really like md this mask, it was everything you'd expect from a clay mask but better! The packaging added a touch of luxury, the texture of the product was beautifully smooth not at all grainy, and the scent was really nice and fresh.

I was in a hurry and used my fingers to apply the first time but you waste a bit of product this way, I definitely recommend using a brush. I like to apply a decent layer and this mask gives a satisfyingly tight and hard dry-down! And the amount of oil that the mask showed being drawn out was amazing, much better in this respect than any other mud mask I've tried. The mask did sting a bit the first time I applied it, as I used it straight after cleansing, so the next time I let my skin settle and applied it some time after cleansing, and there was still a bit of an intial sting/tingle but it wasn't as noticeable as the first time, and settled down as the mask dried.

One thing I loved about the mask was how easily it washed off, I used a warm wet flannel over my face for a few seconds and the mask came off easily - other similar masks I've used turn back into a muddy sludgy mess but not this!

My skin felt fresh, soft and super clean after using the mask, however it did get tight and dry quickly afterwards so I lathered on my favourite moisturiser. Over the week using this product and the cleanser in the same line, I've had no spots, oiliness, dry patches - just great skin! It's definitely felt detoxed, and more even in tone, possibly "brighter", so I'd say this product delivered on all promises.
