What kind of scent do you prefer in Skincare?

When shopping for bath and body care, once you've sussed the product you need, be it a cleanser, a moisturiser or an exfoliater, and you've then sifted your way through all of the different formula options, you're undoubtedly left with - the Sniff Test.

Scent can make or break a product, especially in skin care.  If you don't like how it smells, no matter how good the product is, you're not going to use it, right?

We're putting 3 products from the coming-soon Garnier Organics range to the test.

  • Fresh Lemongrass Detox Gel Wash - cleanses away dirt, oil and pollution without drying skin.
  • Fresh Lemongrass Balancing Moisturiser - hydrates skin all day, refreshes and balances oily zones.
  • Purifying Thyme Perfecting Toner - instantly purifies and mattifies skin while tightening pores and refining skin's texture.

Now, of course, it's you guys who get to review these, but we can tell you something...they smells AMAZING.  Seriously, when the box of products landed on my desk I was surrounded by people asking what smelt so good.  If you like fresh, herbaceous scents, these will pass the Sniff Test for you.

If you'd like to put your hand up to trial these three products for us, why not comment below and tell us two things;

  1. What kind of scents do you prefer in skin care (or maybe you prefer it unscented?)
  2. What type of skin do you have?  Normal, Oily, Combi, Dry, Sensitive, something else?

I adore anything with citrus or lemongrass, it always wakes me up and makes me feel refreshed in the morning. I have pretty normal skin, leaning towards combi.

You had me at Lemongrass, but Thyme, Oh My! Summertime really puts my skin through its paces, and not in a good way. I have the frustrating combination skin, oily in the T zone and dry like the Sahara on my cheeks, it's truly hard to find a product that can balance the best of both worlds, whilst supporting sensitive skin, and having no nasties in the ingredients list.

I do like both herby and floral scents but herby definitely tops floral. My skin is dry/sensitive

What kind of scents do you prefer in skin care (or maybe you prefer it unscented?) - I definitely lean away from floral scents, but prefer unscented/lightly scented herby/citrusy scents! What type of skin do you have? Normal, Oily, Combi, Dry, Sensitive, something else? - sensitive :(

I lean towards "fresh" scents, natural and lightly scented for my body but lighter scents on my face. I adore lemongrass though and it always reminds me of holidays in Thailand, I can only think of thyme in a chicken/thyme combo though lol so that would be a different scent for me to try. I'd love to try this :)

I actually very much prefer unscented face and hand treatments as i dislike my food smelling like flowers. So with this being unfloral it may be nicer!

I prefer fresh or mild scents usually in skin care. I have normal skin with a T-zone that is leaning towards oily in this humid weather.

I like anything not patchouli or too sweet. Floral is ok as long as it isn't strong. Lemongrass is on point.

Its hard to say some sents are good and sime are just a little bit too much

I love a good fresh scent that gives you that sense of clean as revitalizing from the moment you pop the cap. My combination skin is definitely putting two hands up to give this a go.

I have oily (and sometimes sensitive) skin, and I’m always looking for products that don’t strip my skin to much (making it freak out and produce more oil) and that works on minimising my pores. Scent wise, it depends on my mood! Summer time I often gravitate towards floral scents and winter towards spiced / herb scents. I would love to give these a go, they sound like just what I need in my routine!

I have very dry skin and I have to always use moisturizer to keep it fresh. I love scented products and i think for my face I prefer herb scents rather than florals. I also love scents like cucumbers aloe vera, and unscented products too. I would love to trial these products

I love citrusy scents. My skin gets very dry with little dry patches

I like fresh citrusy, grassy or herby scents, so these sound wonderful! I usually find floral scents too overbearing. However I do try to avoid artificial fragrance where possible. If these are naturally scented, as the bottle seems to suggest, that would be AMAZING!

My skin type is combination with a bit of sensitivity thrown in there.

Even though I have normal skin I get unscented skin care if I can otherwise I prefer fresh citrusy scents

Agreed. And everyone is different with different preferences.
