Last week we were overcome with Ombre, and we spoke of how the trend for graduated two tone hair had exploded last year and showed no signs of slowing down this year.  Well we've just discovered the ombre trend is spreading.  To our eyelashes.

Ahead of festival season in the UK, salons are seeing an increase in the demand for bright, bold and statement lashes - in the two tone hair style rocked by many a celebrity.  But before you have nightmares about bleaching your eyelashes, you can sleep easy - these are eyelash extensions.

Eyelash extensions have become a staple salon treatment, with people paying around $250 for silk fibre extensions. Eyelash extensions add depth, volume and length to the upper lashline and are great for people with fine, short or few lashes.  They are made from silk fibres and are lightweight and incredibly natural looking, lasting as long as your natural lash takes to grow out (between 6 weeks and 3 months).  You can choose to have eyelash extensions as a one off for a special event or have regular infills.

To create the ombre look, each fibre is dip dyed to create a striking tip against the classic black fibre. Popular colours include purple, green and blue, which each work best with certain eye colours to bring the glitz and drama.  Some salons will even custom dye them for you, with clients opting for clashing colour combinations such as lime green and orange.

And you thought coloured mascara was daring!

So what do you think?  Will you be batting two-tone colourful eyelashes, or is this one best saved for artistic purposes?

Hmm, maybe? I'm not a fan of coloured mascara unless its for a costume. However, the image you used for this article is gorgeous! The facebook one not so much. Would be interesting to see/hear more!

Very interesting! I have never tried this type of thing to my eyelashes it looks great. Special occasions would be a great time to use these extensions. Purple is a favourite colour I would love to try.

I'd definitely be keen to try it out for a special occasion - it looks gorgeous!

Wow I love this idea. I've been thinking about dyeing my hair a bright colour for the last little while so why not try eyelashes too. I've never had eyelash extensions but I think it sounds like a far smarter idea than trying to dye my own eyelashes.

I would love to try this its so funky and not everyone uses it!

Wow this looks fun, does it come in pink? I've tried blue mascara so but they don't come out blue on my eyelashes.

I like the idea. It's like adding a bit of color to your eyes. It would definitely make certain eye colors pop. Don't know how it would look on me though. I'm sure though that anyone wanting to try this out could recreate a similar look using two different colored mascaras. Like a black on full length of the lashes and a purple or blue on the ends and just see if they like the look before they pay top dollar to have it done at a salon.

Wow, I would of never thought this was even possible! Although they do look really cool. I have to admit though that it would probably suit someone else, not quite sure whether I could pull it off! Plus the cost would be a huge negative factor for me.

I would def do an Ombre Eyelash Extension!

Love the idea so much! And perfect for hooded eyes to add a pop of colour.

Def colour that would enhance eye colour.

I have only seen Coloured Lashes but not Ombre and I think I am inlove already!

Gonna have to go with no on this one, my eyes are two different colours so for me having to deal with eyeshadow is enough

Love it!! Dying to give it a go!! I especially like how the purple is really subtle, yet the blue and black is daring and loud. I'm all up for a bit of experimental playing around.. For the price at $250 however - I can wait until it comes down to something more affordable..

Wow, I love this look so much!! I personally wouldn't do it with the extensions because they just freak me out but if I ever managed to be able to figure out how to apply false lashes then I would wear a style like this

16th June, 2014

Ooo this is a bit gorgeous isn't it! I don't think I would do clashing colours, but a good striking blue or emerald green would be pretty amazing. I have some long red falsies and they are a hoot for a night out. Wonder what it would be like to have ombre eyelashes for a little while though.

Wow that's a neat idea. I don't know if I'm keen on wearing false eyelashes but the Ombre look looks wicked. Gosh I remember years ago wearing blue mascara he he I loved it and received lot's of positive comments on my eyes...might start that up again. ?

I love this look, I'm hopeless with falsies so I think I'd try it using coloured mascara applied to the tips of my lashes

You could try recreating the look using two different colored mascaras. And maybe try your luck with a lash serum to see if you can get nice long lash lashes so you don't need extensions and then you should have a bit more length to play with.

You probably could sort of create the look by using two different colored mascaras, like black for the full length and then a blue or purple on the ends. Would also give you a better idea of which colors would suit you before you decide to pay $250.
