Article by BR Tabatha

Some nights sleep just doesn’t happen. Sometimes it’s due to being a new mum with a wakeful little one, other times it’s due to cats running rampant on the bed, other times it’s simply that your brain is in overdrive and won’t shut off. Then there’s that joyous moment when you finally haul your weary bones out of bed and glance in the mirror, and all you see are shadows and lines and the pale drawn face of a person who didn’t get their beauty sleep.

What’s a girl to do? Reach for her most trusted beauty products of course! And we’ve made it easy by putting together a selection of top-rated-as-by-you skin care products, designed to make you look as sprightly as a cocker spaniel puppy – even if you don’t feel it.

First of all, hop in a nice warm shower, cleanse your skin with a product like Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Facial Cleanser, and then exfoliate with a brightening exfoliant, like St Ives Even And Bright Pink Lemon and Mandarin Orange Scrub.

With your skin all plump and pink it’s time to add a toner into the mix – and it seems some members can’t get enough of Oasis Beauty’s Berry Brightening Tonic. Packed full of fruity goodness, it works to reduce pores, tone, and brighten your skin.

Next up, reach for a serum, like Trilogy’s Nutrient Plus Firming Serum – Queenie herself described it as ‘a facelift in a bottle’, and many members agree that it does indeed firm, lift and brighten as promised.

If your eyes are showing signs of a night spent tossing and turning, apply a good eye cream, like Tonymoly’s incredibly cute Panda’s Dream So Cool Eye Stick, which is formulated to de-puff eyes while minimizing the appearance of fine lines.

Last but not least, you’ll need a good moisturiser, one that hydrates and nourishes, and according to your reviews Essano Rosehip Moisturiser is a winner. Wonderfully hydrating, kind to skin, and great at giving you a glow.

So there you have it. The Beauty Review guide to rising and shining, no matter how little sleep you’ve had. Are you a fan of using skincare to feign a good nights sleep? What are your must-haves for faking a well-rested glow? Go on, spill…

Somehow i managed to come back to this article. It’s exactly what i need right now hahahaha =D

I must try the essano Rosehill moisturiser. I use rosehip oil, but because of my oily skin, it takes a while to try and absorb into my skin.

Haha I fake my awake look with make up far too often. I love Plantae's eye contour cream because it makes my eyes feel more alert. Then its using concealer to hide bags, white eyeshadow in the corner of my eyes to make them look brighter and bright make up colours. You look so bright eyed no one notices you're not bushy tailed.

coffee, my victoria's secret fresh faced brightening gel cream, and a bright lip.... i have insomnia so I'm well practiced haha. Loving the sound of the panda stick

What great tips! I love the Trilogy Nutrient plus firming serum.

Thanks for the awesome tips! I find that when I don't get as much beauty sleep as I would of hoped for I hybernate and don't leave my house haha. Oh the joys of being a stay at home mum

The Triology plus firming serum sounds amazing! I have bookmarked this page, I need to try all of these wonderful tips, normally a cold shower followed by a coffee is as good as it gets, these beauty tips will definitely help me :)

That's me almost every night sadly :( I have heard heaps of good things about the Oasis Berry Brightening Tonic though so I'm about to head to their website and have a look at it :)

Thanks BR more juicy goodness!!

I've been having a huge dose of insomnia in recent weeks so I've been having to do a lot to make myself look/feel more awake. I definitely need a coffee as soon as I wake up, no question! I chuck a tonne of hydrating products on my skin. then use an illuminating base under my foundation and an unhealthy amount of highlighter on top. I also make sure to keep my makeup looking light, as dark and/or bright colours can emphasise tired skin and under eye bags, I'll then have an apple on hand as a pick me up in the arvo, plus eating well just helps you feel better in general :)

Skincare definitely does a great job at faking a well-rested glow however I have somewhat hooded eyes which are quite difficult to conceal if I haven't had a good night's sleep. I try and distract people with mascara and eyeliner - make people notice my massive big eyes as opposed to the puffiness hehe. And like Jess and Jesse have mentioned - bring on the coffee and Vs!

Oh yes, a good night's sleep can be hard to find. A shower is certainly the best place to start, going back to bed is even better. In middle age there isn't much that can hide the damage one bad night can do!

Ooh I have some new products I now want to try! I tend to just live on coffee after the nights when sleep just fails to happen which is probably not the healthiest thing to do.

23rd June, 2015

I fake awakeness almost every day, relying mostly on coffee and V to get me by! Skincare-wise it's helped by using Clinique's All About Eyes eye cream and Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion which are incredibly hydrating as lately my oily skin has been a lot drier and if I'm really tired it needs that extra nourishment. Beauty-wise I like to fake that energetic glow with a peppy blush and some highlighting using my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, and MAC Bare Study paint pot brings life to tired eyes!

To be honest I haven't thought of pampering myself to get back the zing. What an excellent idea almost worth having a bad night .I often struggle to sleep as my mind goes into overdrive so will definately look at these options.

Thanks for the tip on the Trilogy Nutrient Plus Firming Serum, I have been looking for a good serum for a while now. Must try it.
