Is 'Moisture' the Most Important Thing In Skin Care?

You know what I think you can never go wrong with, no matter your skin type?  A moisturising skin care regime.  Why?  A few reasons.

As I'm writing this I can confidently say.  Winter is here.  And no, I'm not living my alternative life in Westeros - I'm talking the real world.  New Zealand is in Winter. And whilst there is something to be said for those rosy (albeit cold) cheeks, winter generally means our skin is going to suffer. The bracing winter air causes our skin to be more dry than usual.

And in Summer?  Well you gotta keep that moisture locked in for fresh, glowing summer skin.  You don't want to look like you've spent forty days in the desert.

And here's the thing - even if you don't think your skin is particularly dry right now, nature is against you.  You see a common factor of ageing skin is in fact, dryness.  As we age our skin thins, collagen production lessons and we lose oil glands.  All of these factors contribute to increasingly dry skin.  Add to that the fact that dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and the turnover of new skin cells decreases slightly and you can see why including moisturising ingredients in your skin care routine becomes more and more important.

Well.  Do we have a power house trial opportunity coming up.  We're looking for some of our Expert Reviewers to put THREE products by the ever-fabulous Linden Leaves to the test.  Each member of this trial team will review the:

Miraculous Facial Oil

An antioxidant-rich treatment oil to help repair and regenerate skin cells. This natural oil is enhanced with natural ingredients such as rose hip to soften and treat the skin whilst reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. High in antioxidants, this hydrating facial oil provides an instant boost to skin and delivers a radiant glow.

Essential Facial Moisturiser

A light moisturising cream rich in carotenoids and allantoin to help treat blemishes and enhance the skin’s recovery cycle. This moisturiser aims to improve skin elasticity by maintaining moisture levels and balancing skin to restore a youthful appearance.

Regenerating Night Cream

A restorative night cream enriched with powerful natural ingredients to aid overnight skin repair and slow the visible signs of ageing. With the antioxidant properties of certified organic white tea and vitamin rich goji berry, this night cream leaves skin looking hydrated and glowing. Special ingredients such as echium, meadowfoam, mulberry and sweet almond oil work to deeply nourish and firm the skin in a gentle formulation.

So - tell us, is 'moisturising' the thing you look for most when choosing skin care products?  Are you noticing Winter playing havoc on your skin, or maybe even your skin getting more dry as you age?

Yes it is crucial for the products I choose. My skin is on the dry side so I love lush moisturisers that make my skin feel nurtured. The linden leaves products have always impressed me. (I love their rose massage body oil ) so I would be very excited to test this range!

I never used to think I had dry skin, in fact my skin can get quite oily, but this winter has been terrible for my skin! Having dry skin makes my skin routine that bit harder, especially putting makeup on, so I would love to try this moisturising miracle!

Would love to give this a go to see if it helps my skin. It is mostly dry with patches that are very dry and get quite itchy.

The level of moisture provided by a skin care range is definitely very important to me!! I really cannot stand the feeling of dry, tight skin that feels like it cracks a little each time you smile. I have combination skin with an oily T Zone but dry cheeks. I am also prone to break outs. It's very hard for me to find a skin care range that can accomodate my skin type. Winter doesn't help the situation much but being in an air conditioned office makes it worse!! These products sound ideal so I would definitely like to give them a go!!

Over the last two weeks I have noticed my cheeks have that red glow all the time, and are positively luminous when I put on moisturiser. I really love the feel of oil on my face (loving the za Deep Cleansing Oil) because it feel luxurious, silky, and indulgent. I would love to trial these products and see how they make my skin feel.

I never skip moisturising otherwise my skin feels tight and dry. I would love to try these products to keep my skin hydrated over winter and beyond

Is moisture the most important thing I hear you ask?? For dry skin like mine there is only one answer..... YESSSSS!!!! If I don't have moisture in my skin my foundation is patchy and flakey, I look tired and my wrinkles are more prominent! A definite must is hydrating products for my skin :-)

As I get older, I find myself looking for products that help with dry skin. In winter expecially I find I'm having to add other products to my regime to help with moisture. I work in environment where I'm constantly going from a warm cozy office, to a freezing warehouse - and I think that is drying up my skin as well, and taken away that dewy glow that I used to have. The older I get, the more I'm needing to look for natural products that address the problem areas with my skin like dryness and the occassional spot here and there... so I'd be excited to try Linden Leaves as it sounds like its been developed for skin like mine!

It's definitely so important, especially in the winter time. I find that I get dry patches as I have combination skin. I love trying new facial oils/serums as well

I love Linden Leaves products a really great NZ example of what we can do with beauty products. This would be amazing to try!

I have definitely noticed a change in my skin with winter here. I've not noticed the overall dryness in previous winters so maybe this is a sign of ageing also. I have been using a night cream for my night and day cream to try to rehydrate my skin as I do notice my makeup not ladting add well if my skin is dry.

Air conditioned office and dance studio, Christchurch winter, turned 30 = My skin seems to be getting dryer and dryer as the year goes on. My usually normal to combination skin currently had dry patches on the tip of my nose, forehead and chin. I would love to give these a go as what I am currently using is not working very well.

The one good thing about being 'that age' is that there are so many gorgeous products to try especially created to target dry, aging skin - I'm trying to embrace it! I'd love to try this skincare range. Any product with Sweet Almond Oil as one of the ingredients gets my attention. I love the stuff.

I can't believe that anyone can live without a moisturiser whether it is summer or winters. My skin is usually normal but during peak winters it starts to get dry at places which makes the skin look uneven. I would be looking forward to use Linden leaves products for radiant and even skin condition.

Moisturise is a massive part for me personally, as I find that if my skin is not hydrated before applying any products, the whole getting ready in the morning is a disaster as nothing blends, applies or sets well. I never miss moisturising out of my regime. I have tried the Linden Leaves Miraculous Facial Oil and it was really really good (actually I must remember to review that) but sadly it was not in my budget at the time and since then I have found a couple that are just as amazing and easier to find. If you get on this trial, you are super lucky as its a great brand.
