Do you want to be Fresh and Fancy like the French?

When I think of the French I (somewhat bizarrely perhaps...) think of two things.  Those little cakes, French Fancies, and Carrie Bradshaw.  I know, she's a New Yorker.  I'm not even on the right continent.  And yet that's what I think of.  You know what I'm on about right?  At the end of the final season*, when Carrie moves to Paris with the eternally annoying Aleksandr and she embraces the grace, style and elegance of the French by channeling her faux-French side?  I mean look at her - could she be any more Français?  Non.  She could not.

I think all of us, at one point, have wanted to get our French on.  There's something about French beauty that is timeless.  Although, they've had a little help for a century and a half from one of the most fabuleux brands ever.  Bourjois.

We're going to be putting two of our favourite Bourjois products to the test - both will help you fake fresh 'n' fancy like the French.

First up, the iconic Bourjois Little Round Pot Blush - one of a lady's must-have product since 1863.  Look at the evolution of this baby!  Little Round Pot Blush was the first ever dry powder make-up that was accessible to all women in the 19th century - we make-up lovers owe this little pot, a lot.

So it's been around for 150 years, it's obviously good, but what makes it so good?  Well when applied to the skin, the baked texture transforms into an ultra-fine pressed powder, which is easy to apply and blends impeccably.  One stroke of the brush reveals the irresistible aroma of the rose scented powder.  And of course, there's the packaging - not only très chic and cute, it's practical too - there's a built in mirror and a brush - it's perfect for on the go touch ups!

The second Bourjois goodie this trial team will be reviewing is a more modern offering from the range, but equally as wonderful - It's the Bourjois Push Up Volume Glamour Mascara.   Because - what French lady would be seen without lucious lashes?!

The Push Up mascara has this uplifting brush that coats lash by lash, creating curl and boosted volume and length.  This curl and volume will hold for 16 hours - this is the mascara to take you through the day and into the night!

So - what do you think of when you think of French style and beauty?  Have you tried many products from the Bourjois range?  What's your favourite?  Discuter en bas!

*Oh and that final season?  Yeah that's 10 years old now.  Feel old yet?!

Is it weird that I automatically associate french with baguettes lol. Hmm french beauty maybe something along the lines of perfectly permed hair and immaculate red lipstick?

I think of a bold red lipstick and winged eyeliner! French style and beauty seems to have natural crisp elegance to it that is unique! I've never tried the blush or the mascara but I'm always looking for a new awesome mascara. And that blush packaging from the 1800's is to die for!!!!!!!!!!1

Ooh ya ya - the mascara looks amazing! When I think of France, i always thinks of fashion and food!!

I didn't even know this brand existed. I've been on the hunt for a new blush. These look so pretty! Oh and a 16hr mascara.....get out of here hahaha

I've not tried this range before. I have been to make up and perfume shops in France. They are gorgeous and the French where make up everywhere. I like the sound of the rose smelling blusher and I'm desperate to try and easy to usemascara.

I love french style. It never gets old aye. Haven't tried Bourjois yet. Must try some swatches next time I'm in Farmers.

To be truthful the first thing that comes into my mind when I think french beauty are powdered-up faces, big wigs and pouty rouge lips. But then you turn to modern french and the striking beauty is still in place, but slightly more natural. Something I would love to dive into. And on top of that I am in need of a new mascara! I would love to see if these stand up to the test.

I have always loved the French Chic -understated and clever with the eyes the main attraction. The mascara looks chez magnifique

15th May, 2017

I think of wonderful bakeries and women with under-stated elegance sipping wine over lunch. The French just have something special that is so darned elegant and yet it's impossible to pinpoint it!

As for these products, I've never tried the brand so I'd love to try these products! My current mascara is underwhelming and I don't have any particularly wonderful blush, so I'd love to receive these goodies! Though tbh I'm most in love with the 1881 tin!! <3 <3 <3

Mais oui. I don't know who wouldn't want to get their inner French out sometimes. I try to channel my inner French side regularly (parce que j'adore La France :p).

Really interesting to see how the blush has evolved. And I love the idea of making it rose scented. It sounds tres chic.

I think of simple natural beauty. A bold red lip! I love seeing all the different packaging throughout time. I have never used Bourjois products before. They sound great.

The packaging for the blush in 1881?! Soooooo beautiful! The now packaging reminds me of a french gal with a beautiful soft pink glow on her cheeks with a bright lippy! Love it

I think of clean naked skin, a fabulous winged eye and a bold lippy. Preferably in a shade of red. I have been meaning to try this blush for a while, but did not realise that it was rose scented! Bonus! The mascara looks good too.
