Do You Struggle to Find a Great Facial Sunscreen?

Hello, it's me again - your SPF-obsessed editor.

I get comments all the time about how the boys have 'English Skin' - aka, they're pale.  But here's the thing - both boys are outdoorsy kids.  Jack goes to the park or preschool daily.  I wear Billy every day for a walk.  They're pale because every morning when mama applies her sunscreen, my vampire babies have theirs applied.  And it's re-applied throughout the day.  For us, applying SPF is like brushing your teeth - it's neither a chore nor a burden, it's just part of the routine.  So yes, my little Piwis are pale, but they're still getting their Vitamin D!

The Husband on the other hand - only seems to remember to apply sunscreen when he's rocking the sunburn!  So, assuming we all know the risks of sun exposure (which we do right?) , why are some people not fussed about applying sunscreen?

The common complaints about sunscreen are;

  • It's greasy
  • It smells funny
  • It needs reapplying
  • It stains clothes
  • It leaves youir skin shiny

Well, we've got news for you - yes some products are guilty of all of these things, but many, many products do none of these things.  Just as you can find gorgeous moisturisers out there, you can find fantastic sunscreens too - you just need to find the one for you!

We're putting Cancer Society SPF 50+ Moisturising Face Sun Lotion to the test.  This light-feel sun lotion offers high protection with a dry touch.  There's no shine, oiliness or stickiness, and it won't leave white marks.  The light-weight, easy to spread formula is a cream based sunscreen loaded with Vitamin E.  It offers UVA/UVB broad spectrum, is paraben free and leaves a matte finish.

In short - it sounds like everything you'd want or need from a facial sunscreen.  And with sunscreens like this on the market there really is no excuse not to wear it daily!

We're looking for a team to put this to the test and we're curious as to how many people use sun protection every day - so why not chat to us about your sunscreen habits.  Are you a good girl and use it daily, or are you not particularly judicious about it?  If you don't use SPF every day, why not?

It is such a struggle to find a sunscreen that is both lightweight and non greasy, a lot of facial sunscreens tend to break me out so I would love to try something new this summer

The main reason I don't use sunscreen every day (other than what's in my BB cream or foundation) is because I have never been able to find one that is nice to apply foundation over. In my experience, they ALWAYS seperate, and seem to 'slip' down my nose/cheeks/forehead etc. If I'm not wearing makeup, I will always apply sunscreen on my face before leaving the house - but for someone who generally wears makeup a lot of the time.. It's not very often.. And result to wearing hats while I'm out in the sun instead. I would LOVE to find one that stays really nice under foundation - and doesn't make me look like I'm covered in oil!

all the sunscreens I own are either to greasy or smell bad so this would be great to try a new sunscreen so i know my skin will be all healthy in the sun

My moisturiser has SPF, but I don't think it is enough some days and that a specialised sunscreen is a must.

My skin is quite sensitive esp my face. It's also prone to breakouts and rosacea if I use too much product so applying sunscreen everyday really upsets it. So I would love to find a good facial sunscreen I can wear daily

I'm sooooo bad! Usually i forget to put on sunscreen, mostly because it takes to long to dry and leaves me feeling oily when I'm in a rush to put on my makeup. I do use makeup products with SPF in them for a tiny bit of protection, but i'm sure it's nowhere near enough! My boyfriend is also a builder so it's super important to me that I find a good sunscreen for him - working outside everyday he has a huge risk of skin cancer :(

I have really sensitive skin and it's oily. I find that ones I have tried are either too greasy for my skin or I get allergic to the smell of them - frustrating!

In recent years I've tried to be really good at applying sunscreen, especially to my face as I notice I'm getting sunspots or brown patches on my skin. I'm blonde and have fairly pale skin and I hate how most sunscreens make my face even whiter! I don't like the thought of having too much stuff on my face and clogging my pores, i.e. moisturiser, sunscreen and make up. I would love to try this product and see if it fixes my problems.

I have great trouble as I have always had problem greasy skin and as I get older pigmentation is a problem. While I do protect my skin no matter what I often find the creams are too heavy, and there is simply nothing much out there specifically for the face if you count out moisturisers that also contain it and even those are often too low SPF as I want maximum protection from the sun.

I'd love a specially formulated product that works.

I try to be good about sunscreen, but I admit to being more vigilant with my kids than my own. I struggle with face sunscreens. Normal sunscreen is too much for my skin, and things with built in sunscreen (bb/cc creams etc) just don't protect enough!! Definitely keen to try this out.

A facial sunscreen is hard to come by I always find it leaves my skin looking greasy and shiny and just not a good look would be very keen to use one that doesn't do this!

I hate the feel of most sunscreens on my face so I just go with moisturiser with added spf,but I know it really isn't doing alot. So I would love to try something new

Would love a non greasy 1

I think its important to have a great facial sunscreen to protect your face from the elements of sun and wind. If you look after your skin you feel much better about yourself as well as looking younger.

a lot of the facial sunscreens I have tried are thick and heavy, make me look like marcel marceau and go all over my clothes. I would be great to try this for summer
