Do you set your foundation with powder?

Face powder used to be a staple beauty product - no lady would be caught without her compact - what would she do in the powder room?!

But a few years ago powder seemed to become a bit of a forgotten item, lumped in with other 'nanna' products like Rose Water and Cold Cream.  But like all good things, they seem to have a way of coming back in style.  Watch any YouTube tutorial and chances are they'll 'set' their foundation with a powder.

We're going to be putting the Moisture Mist Translucent Pressed Powder to the test.  This product is perfect for keeping your makeup fresh and reducing oil sheen. It's so handy and compact and has a built-in mirror, meaning it's perfect for on-the-go touch ups.

So if you'd like to put your hand up for this trial team, why not tell us your thoughts on powder - who uses face powder these days?  Does this product still have a solid place in your make up routine?  And if you do use it, what format do you prefer? Does the compact still rule? Or has loose powder taken over?

Ive only just started using a powder over my BB cream more to finish off the look as my BB cream doesnt give me a full coverage. Would love to try this out!

I absolutely set my foundation with powder. I'm a big fan of keeping things matte and couldn't handle the idea of having a shiny face! I still prefer to use a compact for the convenience of having a mirror for touch ups on the go.

Every time I use a foundation I use a pressed powder, it seems to help give me a more natural look. My makeup seems to blend together and not be as noticeable if i wear a pressed powder over top.

Usually most of the time I do. I have pesky oily skin and most of the time what ever I use , I can definitely see oil come through in a few hours. Hugest pain in the tush.

I learnt to embrace the oil slide and I just pretend I have 'dewy' skin haha :)

I always use powder to set my foundation, otherwise my face just looks oily and/or sweaty, and that's not cute. I'd love to try this!

I love setting with a powder as I feel it completes the look. I definatley prefer compacts over messy loose powders. I also have oily skin so am always in the look out for best powder to combat this.

I seriously could not live without powder to set my foundation. Powder is an ESSENTIAL product in my makeup routine and always has been, always will be! I have normal ish - oily skin and it is crucial for me to set my foundation otherwise I will end up looking like an oily mess! I often have to re-apply powder a few hours later to keep that shine away, I am 100% a matte girl I don't like the dewy look on myself because I feel like I look oily. For years now I have been using my Rimmel Stay Matte powder and I think its great, and such a good price! The one downside is that it is not in a compact.. so it is not ideal to carry around in my handbag because if the lid falls off that is not going to be a good time and it means I would also have to carry around a powder brush. I have actually recently been thinking about changing it up a bit and trying a different powder that does come in a handy compact so naturally when I saw this I got very excited! I would LOVE to trial this product out it sounds amazing 'longwear flawless coverage' I am all about that longwear and flawless coverage! Also stoked that it has an SPF in it as I am a fair wee thing and it is quite important for me to keep my face covered which isn't too much of an issue now that it is heading into winter but especially in the warmer months! PLEASE let me try this it sounds like a dream come true! <3

Powder is so essential to stop foundation from transferring. Also I find that if you set your foundation with powder, it helps your blush and bronzer blend far more easily. I think compacts will always be popular to touch up on the go.

Foundation just looks a lot better with powder and also lasts way longer, so I always set it with some powder. I'm not a fan of the dewy look anyway. My go-to for now is the Covergirl matte pressed powder

Even with using a BB cream I use my powder on top. Most definitely with my foundation.

29th April, 2015

I always set with powder as I find my foundation lasts and lasts and I love the matte effect I get without looking oily. Moisture Mist is such a fab brand, my mum swears by it and I have nicked some products of her to try before - would be so cool to have one of my own!

If I'm in a rush then no, but if I want a more flawless look then I use pressed powder over the top

29th April, 2015

I can't go without setting my foundation without my powder! Otherwise I end up like a shiny coin.

28th April, 2015

I always set my foundation with powder, it stops the shine and makes it last longer, stopping the fade!

always! Or else my skin will become extremely oily. Powder is a must
