ELVIVE Smooth Intense Shampoo

This shampoo design of packaging is clearly from the Loreal Elvive range because they all look similar this would not be my first choice from the range because I really like the white bottle one as the scent sweeps me off my toes this one smells okay I have the conditioner aswell the scent is not strong its sort of like fejoia fruit I think. This bottle is a see through gel like formula its not pearly and creamy like others. A little goes a long way with the shampoo. I really like the idea of a thermal / humidity protection or whatever it claims to have on the packaging but as far as keeping my hair non frizzy without a serum or other products the product is not fantastic but it is not bad the results last far from 48 or even 24 hours with me I get fly aways later in the day at work but initially my hair looks nice and smooth I feel this shampoo could be suited to oily hair because it lathers well and the conditioner is light I will write a separate review about it. This product does not weigh your hair down so part of the claims are true but it does not seem to hydrate your hair much either I would use again but probabbly not buy for myself I like something richer and a stronger scent.

Smooth and clean for a bargain price

I picked up the L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense Shampoo in the recent Beauty Review Beauty Vault along with the matching conditioner as I'm convinced there must be a range out there that is cheap and perfect for my hair. This actually comes pretty close!

The shampoo comes in a clear bronzed plastic bottle that isn't something that would automatically appeal from the shelf as a shampoo (superficial! sorry :) ) but I can't put my finger on why exactly. I do like the swirly gold logos and the clarity of the product labelling though.

The shampoo itself is liquid form and a clear gold/orange shade. It has a non-distinctive, 'typical' scent common to most shampoos. It lathers up nicely and cleans hair without drying or stripping moisture or colour (my hair is fine, dyed, and tends towards dry).

I have noticed that since using this shampoo my hair stays in reasonable condition post-dry/straighten/curl, however it does have a lingering tendency to tangle a little more than it has done with other products, which is why this product falls short of perfect for me. Other than this I'd happily buy the hugest bottle I could find. This is an idiosyncrasy of my hair though and I doubt it would be an issue for many people.

The shampoo washes out cleanly and leaves no residue. It definitely has improved the look of my hair, making it less frizzy and more smooth.

I recommend this shampoo to you! You can often pick the range up in the supermarket for around the $5/$6 mark and it's a LOT better than similar products from different ranges in a higher price bracket. I'll be keen to check out other ranges from this brand.

Very Good Anti Frizz Shampoo

I purchased this from the beauty vault and was pretty excited as I have used other L’oreal products and find them pretty good. I have dry, damaged hair due to my health and am always keen to find something that reduced frizz. That it contains argan oil was also a big plus.

It comes in a clear, orange bottle with a flip top, easy to open and use. The product is a pale clear fluid with a beautiful scent, that smells similar to many other hair products.

It lathered easily and felt soft in my hair, and rinsed easily and cleanly without leaving a brittle, dry, feel, like some shampoos can.

My hair feels soft and smooth after drying and after regular use I can see there is less frizziness. The product claims to nourish and tame, with lasting smoothness and I believe it meets this claims quite well.

I would purchase it and I do recommend it to others to try.

At around $10 it is a little more expensive than a lot of similar shampoos, but I believe it’s worth it.

Tips: Use with the matching conditioner for the best result.

Good, not great

I received this to trial in a Black Box and was pretty excited as I'm always interested in trying products that claim to give me smooth locks. I have damaged, coloured hair that tends to get oily roots and dry lengths, and while it's naturally straight it does get it's fair share of frizz and flyaways.

I really liked the shampoos fragrance, similar enough to salon products that I can fool myself into thinking it's very fancy. The packaging is simple, an orange functional plastic squeeze bottle that's easy to use and store. The shampoo itself is actually similar in colour.

I found it lathered really easily without needing a lot of product. After washing my hair felt nice and clean but not squeaky like some shampoos leave it. I've been using this in conjunction with the matching conditioner and together, however I haven't been noticing any difference whatsoever in anti-frizziness in comparison to my regular shampoo.

This is a nice enough shampoo, but nothing about it really impressed me and for the price it is I wouldn't repurchase it full price although I may purchase on special.

Good supermarket brand

I've recently been gifted this set of shampoo and conditioner and immediately thought "well if I don't like it I'll give it to my nieces" I'll be keeping this. In general I only use Sorbet or Salon brands but I'm not about to turn down the offer of something that was gifted as it could turn out to be the next amazing find! On first glance the packaging is pretty blah - it's orange, and that's not a colour that graces my life very often, the bottles are nicely shaped and easily held in your hand. The flip tops are easy to open one handed in the shower too, I always like that. The shampoo comes out a translucent orange colour and is easy to get out of the bottle. I have short hair, so only need a small amount - it's quite economical. It's easy to lather up and wash out.

There was a definite difference to the texture of my hair - usually after using supermarket shampoo my hair feels rough and straw like but this formula leaves my hair feeling pretty good. It does help reduce the frizz factor when used in conjunction with the matching conditioner and if I use a hair oil or serum it eliminates it altogether. Not sure about the 48 hour anti frizz claim, I think that's a bit hopeful, but it does make a difference to just washed hair. The smell - well, it's not for me. I don't know how to describe it but it smells little old ladyish to my nose.

If I was to run out of my normal shampoo and needed something in a hurry I would look at purchasing this, however I would not pay $9.00 per bottle for it. I imagine it often comes up on sale though.

Tips: Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose, except frizz.

A low-priced luxury

I love most of the L'oreal range, but the golden bottle is one of my favourites. Not only does it make my hair feel cared for and soft, but the bottle totally looks great in my bathroom. Call me shallow, but how the packaging looks in the shower makes me happy. This shampoo feels much more luxurious than the price suggests, especially when Countdown has any 3 L'oreal haircare for $15.

Tips: Wait for it to go on special!

elvive smooth-intense

a great product just like the conditioner, delivers what the bottle says. combined with the conditioner, a perfect duo effect, Amazing smell, you could almost eat it.A good nourishing wash, which makes it feel really clean, good value for money, which saves you on frizz control products, and thermal protection when blow drying or straightening your hair. Only negative is that i felt it left my hair knotty and feel it should be used with its partner

Tips: use with conditioner

It works!

I’ve used this shampoo on and off for the last couple of years, and it’s definitely one of the best that I’ve tried. I have long, very thick hair, which tends to get quite dry and ‘fluffy’ on the outside layer. I don’t ever colour it or use heat on it very much, so it’s not damaged, but it does lack natural shine and smoothness.

The bottle is perfect, in my opinion. I love that’s it’s semi-clear, so you can see exactly how much product is left, and I also love that you can stand it up on either end to get every last drop out. I think it looks more expensive than it really is.

The actual shampoo is clear goldeny-yellow. It smells amazing, in my opinion! Very salon-esque and expensive (I keep on using that word in this review!), tending towards being slightly citrusy if anything. I really like it, although it doesn’t linger around for ages once my hair has dried. A little goes a long way with this, as it foams up easily. Even though my hair is so long and thick, I can get away with using a (generous, admittedly) coin sized amount. This means that the bottle lasts for a while, which is nice.

It doesn’t leave my hair feeling super matted or tangly like some shampoos, but I always follow up with the matching conditioner anyway.

In terms of effects: with the conditioner, this leaves my hair clean, shiny and smooth. I still get a bit of frizz and wave, but it’s nothing compared to normal (and if I use the matching serum it’s basically nil in that regard). If I do use some form of heat to style my hair, I find it gives a really lovely smooth effect, so this range works really well for that. I don’t find my hair getting oily sooner than normal, and so I usually wash it every three days when using this shampoo.

Price-wise, I think this is extremely reasonable for the quality of the product. I don’t think I’ve ever paid the full $9 for it, either, as the Elvive range seems to be constantly on special – and I’m not complaining about that! :)

Overall: I really like this shampoo (and the range in general). I like to switch up my shampoos and conditioners so I don’t get bored, but I’m sure I will repurchase this (again) in the future.

Miracle

After a bad salon experience- which left my hair bleached, dry and tangled I changed to this shampoo because of the argon oil infused in it. It has been amazing! My hair although still recovering is much much more manageable and smooth. It has been my miracle fix!

So In Love

I have definitely found my new shampoo and conditioner.....

After the BR trials I decided to go out and buy this because I really wanted to know what it would do for me and if it would really work. I got the serum a little earlier and it has worked wonders, so I put all three to the test at once, trying to see if it really would be worth it - and OMG YES!!!

If you have dry, frizzy hair I totally recommend this three-step system, now I know this review is really only about the shampoo, but bare with me, because you can't really review each one on it's own.

The shampoo:

Packaging - amazing, it looks glamorous, you can see how much product you've used, the cap pops open soooo easily, it's a biggish and sturdy bottle, it'll probably last you around a month (if you're like me and wash your hair twice a week with a very decent amount).

Product - It's enriched with argan oil, making your hair soft and silky smooth. It smells like a kind of medicine I used to drink as a child when I had flu. It's a kind of orange-y, not unpleasant, but more medicinal smell. It doesn't last on your hair though, thank goodness! It foams, which I love. I hate shampoo that doesn't foam...

Effects - combined with just the conditioner it does definitely tame my hair, making if smoother, less tangles and more manageable. My curls are better formed (if I can say it like that) and when I straighten my hair it's super straight. It doesn't really get upset and frizzy by the weather.

Combined with the serum the look lasts until I wash it again.

I am super impressed with this and needless to say, I will definitely continue to use this!
