Dr Lewinns Reversaderm Trial

I was so excited to be selected for this trial as my wedding day is very quickly approaching and I was very keen to try anything to make my skin as bright and radiant as possible! I don't usually use a lot of products on my skin so I was worried about commiting to a complicated & timely routine, but this system is quick & easy to use. I'm over the moon with my results - My skin tone is more even now, my pigmentation is clearing, my acne scaring has all but gone & my partner comments at how much softer my skin is. I am so excited to be able to put a much more radiant face forward on my wedding day. Cleanser: Large, easy to use pump bottle. A pleasant smelling light lotion-y consistency, I would use a couple of pumps each time to get a generous coverage. Initially my skin really tingled a lot when using this product. I'm not big on cleansers but I really like this product, initially I thought it was expensive for what it was, but after trialling, the bottle goes a long way & the results speak for themselves. Age Correcting Peel: A smaller pump bottle, This time a clear liquid which you use every second day, after cleansing. The first time, I used a heap of this product trying to get a good layer on my skin thinking it was like a traditional dry on your skin & peel off dealy, but nope, next time, just a few pumps like the cleanser, its very light and just dries on your skin and then wash off after 20 mins. Initially it was tingly to the point of almost stingy, but I persisted and the tingling stopped pretty quickly. I liked this peel a lot, although, if I continue using the system I will use this once or twice a week instead of every second day. Serum: Came in a small jar with a dropper, I found the dropper hard to use, it was a bit hit or miss how much you picked up & as the jar got low on serum it got harder to get the product out with the short dropper. The serum is a light milky liquid, which I would only need a small drop of to cover my entire face & neck. Regenerative Cream: Comes in a fancy jar, the lid presses down and dispenses the cream from a small circle in the middle of the lid. I found I had to press very lightly or the cream would splatter everywhere. I would use 1 to 2 pumps every time I used it, I found the cream very light, but when used with the serum offers a whole ton of moisture! Mask: This was a once a week mask, it comes in a tube, the mask inside was a purple colour. I was looking forward to this mask every week, my skin felt so fresh and clean after I used it. the mask just sat on my skin & then after the 20 mins I washed it off. This product range is out of my budget at $370 for the complete system but It is a luxury product range & the beautiful packaging & lotions inside are worth the price. After trialling, I would recommend to anyone who had a special event such as a wedding or even just as a treat. I will be continuing on with my system for my big day in a few months time.

Tips: After I shower I like to use a little lotion on my face, I would often just put a dab of the regenerative cream on, but I found it too light by itself. I found it really came to life when used in conjunction with the serum. The products really compliment each other.

Definitely use sunscreen as recommended, all that beautiful new skin needs to be protected!

Dr Lewinns Reversaderm Complete System

I was beyond excited to be selected for this trial. My skin care was not up to par and I had never tried a more high end/ luxury skin care product before.

The complete system comes with 5 steps/ products and simple instructions.

Step 1: Glycolic Clarifying Cleanser 100ml. This is a pump bottle with a lid. 1-2 pumps of the product is all you need. Its a fresh, light almost citrus scent with the consistency being a creamy white lotion. This product is easy to use I simply dampened my face with water, applied 1-2 pumps of the product and worked it in with circular motions with my hands, left it on for a couple minutes then rinsed it off with warm water. It leaves your skin feeling clean, fresh and new. The first few applications left my face feeling quite hot, tight and tingling but this wore off after a couple days.

Step 2: Micro-Cellular Age Correcting Peel 50ml. I had only ever tried one peel previously so I didn't really know what to expect but I loved it. I used about 1-2 pumps every second day, simply rubbed it into my face and left it on for 30 minutes as advised then rinsed it off. It feels great and leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth.

Step 3: Tri-Collagen Accelerating Serum 30ml. The serum comes in a small bottle that has a dropper for the dispenser instead of a pump. I prefer the pump as it's easier to use but this was fine and mess free. Only needed 1 dropper to cover my face with a thin layer. I was worried the serum might leave my face looking oily but it didn't do this. It absorbed well and left my face feeling refreshed.

Step 4: Antioxident Regenerative Cream 50ml. This is your daily moisturizer. Comes in a tub with an unique dispenser. You press down on the lid and the product come out of the top. This is great because it reduces dirt and bacteria getting into the product then onto your face like some cream products that require you to dip your finger into it. The cream absorbs well, can be used morning and night and has a nice scent and a medium consistency.

Step 5: Enzymatic Detoxifying Mask 70ml. The mask comes in a tube so you just squeeze the product out. The mask is a pale purple colour and has a similar scent as the cleanser and peel but is lighter fragrance. After I apply it to my face I leave it on for about 15-20 minutes then rinse it off. I did notice a slight tingling sensation however it was fine. My face always feels amazing after I wash it off and looks healthier.

Overall my skin feels fresh, clean and new/ restored after trying this skin care system. I was pleasantly surprised. My skin hasn't felt this soft in a long time, my t-zone gets less oily and my face as a whole looks refreshed. It's nothing drastic but it did more than just clean my face. I wouldn't repurchase as it's too far out of my price range but it's but a great experience and I will continue using the products until they run out. I would recommend this system to anyone with aging skin who would like to treat themselves.

Dr Lewinns Complete system

Reversaderm five step skin care range, this is meant to help with acne scars, enlarged pores, lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, sun damage and dull uneven skin tone. This range comes in a sleek white and silver bottles with black and blue writing. Step 1:Glycolic Clarifying Cleanser: this comes in a 100ml bottle with a pump dispenser, I used 2-3 pumps every time, I did not enjoy the scent of this at all it had a very alcohol smell to it, the one thing in a cleanser for me is to be able to use it over my eyes which was unfortunate I couldn’t with this one so had to remove my makeup with one of my other cleaners, I found this cleanser to however give my face a really good cleanse and prep my skin for the next steps, it also did not have any dryness or tightness just a really soft milky texture that felt nice on my skin. This product I used twice a day. Step 2: Micro-Cellular Age Correcting Peel: this comes in a 50ml bottle and also has a pump dispenser, this product was a clear liquid that had a pleasant scent, I used three pumps of this product for 30 minutes every second day. I found the peel to go on to my skin really easily and it never felt tight while on like some peels can, I did find towards the end of the second week it did make my skin sting a little while on however this did not last for long. Step 3: Tri-Collagen Accelerating Serum: the serum comes in a 30ml bottle and had a dropper to dispense the product, I found I needed a full drop from the dispenser. The serum is full of key benefits including vitamin C and French Saffron, my skin just drunk this product up and took no time to dry. I found the dropper to be really hit and miss with dispensing product sometimes it would dispense the amount of product needed other times you would need to re drop the dropper a couple times, and the product over time started to sit around the bottom of the screw lid which is a real shame as it is quite an expensive product ($89.99) to be getting wasted by the lid. Step 4: Antioxidant Regenerative Cream. This product comes in a 50ml, and retails for $94.99 and is the most expensive product in this range. The way that this product is dispensed would have to be one of the coolest ways I have seen from a cream, it has a button that you push down and it dispensers the product up through a hole in the middle, this took me a little while to figure out as if you push too hard the product went everywhere. The cream was a thick texture that went on to the skin really easily and sunk in without feeling heavy. It has a nice soft scent to it. I found putting make up on over this really easily and set really nicely.

Tips: Step 5: Enzymatic detoxifying Mask: this comes in a 70ml this product gets used once a week and put on for 20 minutes. The mask has a nice purple colour to it but goes on clear, I needed a good two dollar coin amount of the product to put onto my face. I found this product to tingle my skin straight away and every time I couldn’t wait to rinse it off and it was worth the tingling as it did make my skin look really good after using. Overall I enjoyed using this range. The positives, my pores on my chin have vanished along with acne scars I had down there, it has stopped my monthly acne from rearing its ugly head so that is a huge positive for me. Negatives, into the third week of this trial and while using my usual skin care my skin completely went crazy and started peeling all over and was so dry, I have never seen my skin like that before and was not a great time being just on Christmas having my skin all yucky it was pointless even trying to put make up as I look so blotchy. I haven’t really noticed any changes in my small lines and wrinkles, and the price of this range is definitely out of my range so wouldn’t be able to repurchase once I have finished these products. *use SPF this range has no spf in it and it is exposing resurfaced skin.

noticeably fresher skin!

After accepting this trial I had a case of butterflies - my current skincare works for me, what if i was about to mess up my face? Words like 'acid' and 'peel' are kinda scary when you're talking about your face. But, accept it I had, and so I was going to do it.

I started this on the first of December which made it way easier to track the schedule - i think in future i'd try and start on the first of the month to make sure that I was keeping track of which days to do the peels and masks, because the second session, with it beginning after Xmas and happening while I was on break, confused me.

This range comes packaged as a range, in a variety of white bottles, tubes and pottles with metallic blue and black writing. It looks classy, slightly medicinal, and expensive.

The GLYCOLIC CLARIFYING CLEANSER is actually far more of a mild product than I was anticipating. It comes in a sizeable bottle equipped with a pump action dispenser This is the only dispenser that got messy, but this could be due to the fact that you use this one twice a day. The cleanser lotion is white, medium thickness and has a faint scent - nothing I can put my finger on, it just smells clean and fresh. You massage this onto damp skin for 30 seconds, leave for a couple of minutes and rinse off. This doesn't feel like it's stripping anything out of skin and it certainly doesn't feel like there is acid in it, which I was worried about. It does tingle (note: not hurt, but it's a sharp tingle) when you use it the day after a peel/mask), which can be disconcerting, but the tingle is only momentary. This also didn't remove my makeup - so I used a cleansing oil first.

The TRI-COLLAGEN ACCELERATING SERUM is the most expensive feeling product in the range. It's extreme luxury, from the dispenser being a wee dropper (implies that you should only use a little) to the luxurious feeling of this on skin. This is probably my favourite in the range - it literally feels like its rejuvenating my skin from the moment i put it on my face. It's hydrating without being at all greasy (the word 'serum' usually makes me feel oily without even touching the product!) and super lush and divine on skin. It's a thick-ish white cream with a lotion-type scent - really fresh and luxurious.

The ANTI-OXIDANT REGENERATIVE CREAM comes in some of the coolest packaging I've seen yet. It's a pottle, but with a pump lid that you simply push down on to have product pop up. It DOES dispense more than I feel necessary so I try and only 'pump' it very lightly. This is a very thick, off-white cream with a typical face cream scent. Its spreads well and hydrates beautifully, with no residue and fast absorption. When combined with the serum it genuinely feels like you're gifting your skin with a wee mini facial a couple of times a day.

Tips: But wait, there's more!

The MICRO-CELLULAR AGE CORRECTING PEEL was probably the one that was scaring me the most. I felt like it was going to be a microdermabrasion, remove layers of skin, leave me red and sore kinda deal. I was so wrong. It's a frosted thin gel that you cover your face with and leave for about 20 mins. The first few times (this is an 'every second day one) I didn't feel it at all, for the second week it's definitely more noticeable, because you're putting it on fresh skin. It has a strong chemical smell that you get used to really quickly. This is the one that really feels like it's 'working' in that my skin always feels fresher following this - and you know what? It's not red, scary looking or sore. The serum and lotion soothe any tenderness instantly but it's minimal anyway, and the fact that you use so little product means this will last for ages. This is used more as a mask - put it on, leave it 20-30 mins and wash it off. There's no visible 'peeling' involved!

Speaking of lasting for ages, the ENZYMATIC DETOXIFYING MASK, which you only use twice per cycle, for 15-20 mins per time, is an investment product really - you use such a small amount so infrequently that the cost per use isn't actually that bad. This replaces two of the peels per cycle and has a similar effect. The mask is a gorgeous pale purple shade, and is enriched with macadamia oil and saffron. It's a different kind of mask to the peel - less chemically smelling and more sort of a hydrating and replenishing feel; skin afterwards feels incredibly plump and hydrated. This is meant to detoxify and I definitely feel like my skin glows after using it.

As a whole, my skin has exhibited visible improvements over each two week cycle. I DO break out using this, from the detoxification, but apart from that the remaining skin is clear, radiant, hydrated and healthy - and the breakouts settle quickly. Moving forward I think I'll use this every few months for a skin rejuvenation, timing it so that I can be at home while doing so.

The cost will be the prohibitive factor from buying it again, and what stops me giving it a 5 star rating. It's a truly lovely range of products, which work well in conjunction with each other, but I don't honestly know if I can justify the replacement cost, which is a shame.

FINAL TIP: For the love of all that's good in the world, use sunblock. I used the Neutrogena Beach Spray and it made such a difference. I can't imagin putting the peel on sunburned skin (ouch) and sunburn on the fresh new skin would be awful too. if you're investing in this range invest in facial sunblock if you don't already have a good one!

Dr Lewinns Reversaderm

I was very excited when I got chosen for this trial. And was keen to find out if it really worked. There were 5 different products

Cleanser - it has a nice smell, easy to put on and spread, and you only need 2 pumps to do your whole face and jaw/neck. I didn't have any tingling but apparently some people do. Use it morning and night, it does a great job of removing all traces of make up and grime

Serum - this was in a smaller bottle and had a small dropper attached to the lid, didn't have much smell. I used about 3-4 drops to cover my face and jaw/neck. The only thing that I don't like about it was that it was smaller than everything else so it would be the first to run out and the dropper isn't long enough to reach to the bottom of the bottle.

Cream - it was lovely and smoothing, it was easy to spread over your face. It had a lovely smell and a different kind of lid that you push down and the cream comes out the middle. I really love the cream!

Peel - I used the peel every second day. It was very easy to put on and you only need to put it on for 20-30 mins. You put this on after the cleanser. After washing it off with warm water, your skin feels like it has had something good done to it.

Mask - the mask was a light purple colour, easy to spread and didn't have that tight feeling that some masks give you

All in all I loved the whole regime. My skin hasn't felt this soft for a long time. I didn't notice any reduction in lines, but I have always had high colour in my cheeks since childhood and I have noticed that half of one cheek is fading and I can only put it down to this! It is on the expensive side, but I was over in Sydney at Christmas and Priceline had it for 40% discount, so do some searching on line and see if you can get it cheaper anywhere else that may be cheaper than where you get it in NZ

Tips: With the cleanser - put it on before your shower and wash it off after, it give a more exfoliating cleanse. And with the serum, when the dropper gets too short to reach the serum - tip the bottle up and sit it in a short glass - that way you get it all out ;)

Reversaderm by Dr Lewinns

Did someone say reverse!? A skin care regime that can assist in slowing down, and perhaps reverse, those pesky signs of aging. What more could a girl in her very early forties ask for?

My personal areas of concern consist of “experience lines” (that is the sophisticated term for wrinkles and crow’s feet!) around my eyes, down my nose, along my upper cheek bones and forehead. Minor pigmentation, age spots around the temple area, tiny bumps on my lower cheeks (which come and go) and overall dry skin. All things that may be unnoticeable to others but unfortunately I see them. All these concerns mean a lot to work on for one set of products but there is nothing like putting something to the ultimate test. Going in to the trial I decided I’d be happy with just one improvement, so let’s see how Reversaderm performed for me.

The packaging of the 5 step system is white with silver rims, black and blue writing and clear plastic lids. The overall presentation of the product line is clean, crisp, sleek and simple.

The system consists of a cleanse, serum and moisturise that you use day and night for two weeks. A peel is done every second night and mask once a week. You do this for two weeks, then revert to your usual skincare routine for the following two weeks. Once done, repeat, and so on.

My usual routine consists of cleanse, tone, serum and moisturise. Reversaderm was a little different, potentially a stronger formulation with a more concentrated impact and used in a shorter time frame. Needless to say, I was a little nervous having read the warnings regarding tingling, burning etc. However, I have to say I was most pleasantly surprised.

The cleanser (Glycolic Clarifying Cleanser) has a pump dispenser, is a white cream consistency, very smooth, has a scent of what seems like vitamin C with a floral undertone (to me at least) and is easy to blend into the skin. It’s applied to damp skin and massaged in for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Once rinsed my skin felt soft and surprisingly exfoliated for a cream product with no apparent abrasives. Smooth, clean and ready for the next step.

With an eye drop applicator the serum (Tri-Collagen Accelerating Serum) is also easy to dispense. I was surprised to find that the serum was a cream type consistency. Most serums I’ve used have had more of a thick water or oil feel about them. In applying I had to work fast as I found the serum dried quickly not giving me a lot of time to spread and blend into my skin. But the effort was worth it. The cream disappeared leaving a soft film of nourishment over my skin.

Tips: Review Continued: Moisturising is my favourite part of any routine, predominantly because I have dry skin. It’s that moment when you’ve completed the first couple of steps in your regime, you’re squeaky clean and can just start to feel those first signs of “cracking”. This moisturiser is lovely! It’s thin yet effective, a little goes a long way and it has a delicate scent (not overpowering). I usually use a cream but this is more of a liquid. My skin instantly soaks it up leaving yet again a smooth surface with no greasy residue. The dispenser is different to anything I’ve used before and reminds me of the nail polish remover dispenser that nail technicians use. You push down on the top to dispense product. My only complaint with this type of packaging is that I feel it gives more than you need and is hard to control.

The word “peel” gives an instant image of a women with a bright red shiny face, having just been to the salon and had several layers of skin removed. Thankfully the Reversaderm Peel (Micro-Cellular Age Correcting Peel) is a lot gentler than that and does not mimic that very scary image. This was the product that I was most cautious about, based on the preconception of what a peel is. The formulation of this product gives you a cloudy gel consistency with a “medicated” type scent, almost a hint of eucalyptus or something similar. You apply a thin layer to the skin for 20-30 minutes. Once applied the peel dries but leaves a shine to your skin. Personally I experienced a small amount of tingling on the first application but nothing further when using the product. My skin was left rejuvenated, had a brightness about it and was silky smooth.

The last step for the week is the mask (Enzymatic Detoxifying Mask). A purple cream which is applied all over the face and left for 15-20 minutes. A similar scent to the peel with a hint of “sunburn cream or coppertone” (weird I know but that’s what it reminds me of). The cream dries but is not uncomfortable. Once removed I noticed immediate change in the small bumps on my cheeks, they seemed smaller and softer. My skin felt amazing, fresh, revitalised and tighter.

After having 4 weeks of using the products I definitely have results. My skin is smoother. I noticed after 2 weeks of my usual regime some dullness had returned slightly. There is a brightness to my skin that is giving a younger radiance. The texture has changed in terms of the small bumps that were hanging on for dear life around my lower cheek area. In terms of my “experience lines” I feel there is a slight change in the ones around my eyes. They appear not as deep as they were. Of course it took 40 years to get them so it’s expected it would take longer than 4 weeks to fill them in.

I’m impressed with the products and will continue to use them. Thankyou Beauty Review for giving me the opportunity to try something different.
