Probably Not For Those Sensitive Skinned People

When I first opened the box containing the product I definitely got DKNY perfume vibe as the main packaging of face mask reminded me of one of their perfume bottles. You get 50g of product which is quite standard when it comes to skin care products but maybe not so much when it comes to face masks.

The scent has a slight perfumed undertone with a hint of honey. The formula itself quite thick and creamy, which is good as the instructions say to GENEROUSLY apply the mask I found myself not having to use much to cover my whole face.

Now, I have slightly sensitive skin, thanks to the chlorine we currently have in our water so when I first put this mask on my face slightly stung a bit, however after about a minute this did subside. Now I don't know if that is because of my current skin type or it is just a normal reaction to this mask but if you aren't into the slightest bit of uncomfortableness then this might not be the mask for you.

As for my results, I have only used it for a couple of weeks, and I think that a lot of the fine lines I do have do look like they have diminished a little bit. My skin was definitely a lot softer after using it and I found my moisturiser etc went on better after using it. In terms of tightening and firming my skin I think 2 weeks usage probably isn't enough to get the full effects of this product.

I had been using this product daily as there were no instructions on how many times a week to use it, but I feel that if you do have sensitive skin (or any skin type for that matter) then 2-3 times a week is probably ideal. Will continue to use it until the end of the product to see the final results and what it can do for my skin.

Tips: I would use it during your night time skincare regime!

Alpine Silk Bee Venom Nourishing Face Mask

This product is presented in attractive packaging. The container is easy to open and there is a protection layer on top of the cream. The smell of the product is very mild and non descriptive, no fragrance as such. There is a handy little application paddle scoop in the box which I liked as I hate getting cream under my fingernails when scooping product out of tubs. Not sure if it would get lost if you threw away the packaging as it's quite small. The cream itself is quite thick and oily feeling. A small amount seems to go a long way and is reasonably easy to spread. I used the equivalent of a $2 coin for each application of my face and neck. The face mask stays creamy during the 15 minutes it is left on the face after application so there's no drying or cracking. I was surprised at the tingling sensation I felt while the product was on my face. It was pleasant, but was like micro pricking of my entire face. I accidentally put some on my lip and felt it more intensely here, I had to rinse it off this area. I found my eyes reacting similarly to how they react when cooking chilli, itchy and watery. I initially rinsed the product off with warm water but found I needed to use soap to remove it effectively. Immediately my skin felt softer. After an hour or so I checked the mirror and thought that my fine lines and wrinkles had diminished. The directions on the packaging say to generously apply mask to face and neck after cleansing. Wash off after 15 minutes. It doesn't suggest how often the product should be used. I used it every other day, however I suspect most people would find this difficult given the 15 minutes time frame for application. Although I saw results on the days I used the product it was not still apparent the next day. For this reason I would probably use it as part of a pamper session prior to a social outing, or twice weekly. Given the timeframe of the trial it is hard to gauge whether regular use would in time reduce fine lines and wrinkles more permanently. There are no specific claims on the packaging apart from 'Discover Alpine Silk Bee Venom and enjoy younger looking skin'. Quite vague really. Apparently the benefits of bee venom are found in the way it can stimulate a bee sting. I guess this explains the intense pricking feeling the product evokes. This then helps the circulation of blood and triggers the production of collagen and elastin which enhances the skins elasticity and help delay the signs of aging. So no direct claim there to irradicate fine lines and wrinkles but I did get short term improvement in their appearance. Not sure if I would recommend to a friend at this stage, unless they had time for pampering. I will continue to use the product and see if the results last longer with continued use.

Tips: Do not apply to your lips or too close to your eyes as the tingling felt in these areas is very intense, similar to touching your face after recently been chopping fresh chilli. Keep the scoop on top of the protection layer before replacing the lid so it's doesn't get lost.

Alpine Silk Bee Venom Nourishing Face Mask

While we were not given a long enough trial period to really put this product to the test even at the initial use you can tell there are active ingredients going to work on your skin.

The container is an appealing gold colour and is ball shaped. The mask is an off white colour and has no real distinguishable smell, rather like an unfragranced cream.

The mask is a thick cream that applies easily. As soon as it was applied I could feel my skin heating up considerably where it was applied. It was not uncomfortable but certainly a reaction with my skin. It also felt tightened where applied. No specific advice was given to avoid the eye area but common sense told me to given the active ingredients the product claims to contain.

Instuctions advise to wash off after 15 minutes, it is easily removed. Once removed my skin then felt cold for a brief period of time, but my cheeks remained pink in colour.

The tight feeling went away once removed and my skin did feel smooth like it had been exfoliated. I folllowed with a night moisturiser and my skin felt very nourished.

This New Zealand made mask is enriched with New Zealand Manuka Honey, Collagen and Vitamins A and E. Given the short trial period I was only able to apply the product a couple of times (given the frequency advice) so I am unable to review it's effect over time but the initial trial was positive and I look forward to contuned use to see results over a month or so.

It is only for this reason I have been unable to review if it did what it said it would and whether I would recommend to a friend, intial results look promising however.

Tips: The product does not come with specific application frequency advice on either the packaging or website, I checked in with the Beauty Review team who advised to use it once or twice a week - initially at least, once a week would be advisable as the active ingredients really do create a reaction with your skin. And definitely heed the advice to avoid if you have a sensitivity or allergy to bee / bee products!

Alpine Silk Bee Venom Mask

I was asked to review this mask which was a nice surprise, the mask came in an attractive gold and white box. Inside the box was a lovely gold coloured round pot, with a generous 50g amount of product. The consistency is thick and creamy. I applied a small amount of this white creamy mask to the top of my hand to test for any allergic reaction first, it was fine, just a tingling feeling. I then applied a light covering of cream over my face using my fingers and left on for 15 minutes. Not much of a perfume, didn't notice smell after a few minutes. The price is not that cheap, but one pot will last a long time because you don't need to slather it on. I noticed a tingling feeling almost as soon as I applied the mask. I removed the mask with warm water and makeup remover wipes. My skin felt softer but tighter and no breakouts or rash which was good. I would reccomend this mask to use twice weekly as a pick me up for tired looking skin. Made in NZ with Manuka Honey, Collagen and vitamins A and E and paraben free, lovely as a gift or treat yourself.

Tips: Patch test first and apply sparingly for first time.

BEE-utiful Me!

Bee venom is light creamy. It was easy to apply using the applicator but it is too small though. Fragrance is pleasant not overpowering. I just don't like the mentol smell when washing it off because it irritates my eyes so I figured that I need to apply it thinly. I need a lot for coverage but i need to use it sparingly because its not cheap.Packaging is cool. Its bee venom and the box is reflective of the product. I like the gold colour and the round shape container. I felt skin tightness after using it and its a sign for me that its working. Its an effort on my part to establish a routine to look after myself esp my face and skin. But I believe that natural products are the best products and this product will be part of my beauty routine. Overall, I will recommend this to a friend. Thank you for the trial.

Silky be Venom Goodness

Was lucky again to get to try This Venom Mask, which i was totally surprised with, considering i have mature skin now, and costs a wee bit to upkeep now in our 40's. So was very impressed with the clean packaging. Easy Little pot to open and not make a mess , it has a applicator in box to apply. Applied the Mask to my washed face. the smell and the texture was really nice and liked the thick texture of the mask,, how i would expect a nourishing mask to be, applied nice and even, a very nice constancy, left for 15- 20 minutes and then wash off, was really impressed with how my skin felt and looked, even the next day, this is one i will be purchasing again, and nice it is natural product we can apply to face, so thank you again.

Alpine Silk Bee Venom Mask

I absolutely love the packaging of this product, it’s like a golden orb, I have no other products that look this lovely. Next up is smell, very mild and absolutely nothing offensive about the product whatsoever.

As for the product itself, it smoothes on nicely and you don’t need a lot of it. There’s a definite “zingy” sensation after application, which abates after the 15 minutes I left it on for. It dries to a natural skin colour, so no hesitation opening the door to visitors with a ghostly white or other coloured face. I’m a shocker for applying products too close to my eyes, some products will give a very instant stinging sensation, but not the case here. Washes off easily. I did find my skin felt very dry afterwards and did need to apply a toner and a good night cream afterwards to make my skin feel hydrated again. But in the morning my complexion looked lovely and my skin felt fabulously nourished.

Would I use again? Definately, I’ve used it a number of times now and will continue to do so until the sample runs out.

Give it a try! Nothing to lose, and perhaps you’ll like it as much as I do.

A Little Bit of Luxury

Great packaging always adds to the excitement of trialing a new product, and this certainly didn't disappoint. I love the honeycomb design on the box which is not only clever from a brand point of view, but pretty too. The gold label speaks of luxury, which is what every busy woman of today yearns for every now and then. The sphere-shaped container was a surprise and I believe I even uttered an 'Ooo' when I lifted it out. It is so pretty! I love it when a product comes with a little spatula. I have every intention of using it to scoop the product out rather than fingers, but I've yet to keep to this practice.

The consistency is rich and even though it is quite thick, it spreads easily over the skin, especially as it warms up along with the temperature of your skin, which is great, because it is suggested you apply generously. The scent is a subtle familiar one of honey and beeswax and very pleasant.

Even though the words 'bee venom' and 'stimulation' are clearly written on the box, I wasn't expecting how much this would tingle on my skin. Once I realized it wasn't going to go past the pleasant tingle stage, I relaxed and enjoyed the feeling of the product stimulating my muscles and cells. I loved feeling like it was actively waking up my tired skin and nourishing it.

It washed off easily with lukewarm water and left my skin non-greasy and soft. I'm not sure if it is just the feel-good factor afterwards, but looking in the mirror, I was sure some of the lines on my forehead and brow were softer than before. I'm definitely looking forward to using this product often.

Tips: A lovely mask to use before bedtime to help aid relaxation.

Hey honey what's on your face?

This is a moisturising, nourishing mask containing manuka honey, bee venom and collagen.

The packaging is lovely. The jar is a satisfyingly heavy gold sphere with a nice click when it closes.

The mask is a rich heavy cream, it spreads nicely in a thick layer that initially looks white but it turns translucent after a while. It has a soft smell of honey, similar to a beeswax candle.

I felt some minor tingling when I first applied it, and my skin felt "warm". My eyes also watered slightly. I assume that's from the menthol so I was initially a bit worried, but it all settled down after a few minutes and was fine.

I left the mask on for about 15 minutes then washed it off with a facecloth. It washed off easily and didn't require any vigorous scrubbing.

My face looked a little red after I washed off the mask, but it didn't feel tight or irritated at all. I'm assuming the redness was caused by either the bee venom or menthol, perhaps it did irritate my skin slightly and caused increased blood flow? The redness disappeared after a few minutes.

My skin felt soft and well moisturised, and felt nice the next morning. I enjoyed using this mask, and will use it again.

There are a few ingredients that some people might find problematic. It includes honey, bee venon, and lanolin so it's not vegan. It also includes menthol which might irritate some skins. I didn't have any issues at all with irritation or sensitivity, and my skin has reacted to some other products in the past.

Tips: Check the ingredients list carefully, there's a couple of things that might cause problems for some people. If you're not one of those people, slather on a nice thick layer and relax in a warm bath with a glass of wine!

Beeutiful Nourishment

Having never tried bee venom products before, I was intruiged to try this mask. I was half expecting "tourist" type packaging on this product due to the Manuka Honey. With a honeycomb pattern on front, back and top, the bee logo with gold adds a classier touch. Ingredients clearly listed on the side, and great to note this is paraben free. Manuka Honey is listed fourth so that leads me to believe it has a good honey content, not just a token amount. Vitamins A&E always great for skin, I did wonder about the inclusion of menthol however. Opposite side has a blurb about the benefits of bee venom, being anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-aging in skin care, and the stimulation of venom to help circulation to help trigger collagen & elastin. Rear of box has similar directions, and a Patch Test Caution, which would be advisable to follow.

I was quite surprised to open the box to discover a gorgeous two-tone gold, albeit plastic, orb container which gives a beauty luxury effect, with the simple Alpine Silk Logo and description of product along the edge. Comes with a small plastic spatula, which its great to keep the product hygienic in between uses. Unscrewing the top of the orb, a plastic hygiene lid/seal is easily removed to reveal a very thick, rich cream which has a pleasant, slighly honey fragrance. One small scoop of the spatula was more than enough to provide a thick full face coverage. It is very luxuriously thick, and glided on beeutifully. There was quite a strong initial tingle, but this wasn't overly concerning as I had made sure my skin was thorougly cleaned and exfoliated first in order to ensure the best possible results of the mask, so was expecting full delivery. The tingle disappeared after a few minutes. - I tried the mask again 3 days later, without exfoliating first, and the tingle effect was barely noticeable. The mask went from white to opaque within a minute or two. After 15 minutes, I rinsed the mask off, and immediately thought my skin looked plumper, more hydrated and nourished, and stayed this way for a good 2 days. I really liked the feel of the mask on my skin, it was quite cooling, which I think may have been down to that Menthol. Even though it is an incredibly rich mask, my skin didn't suffer any breakouts or clogged pores at all. I will definately enjoy using this mask on a regular basis. It's great to find a mask that really nourishes mid-40's skin.

Tips: I used on the backs of my hands as they have been quite dry, and they looked & felt much smoother after for a couple of days.
