not for me

nice pleasant smell.this is a solid balm to touch, which melts with body heat.I used after dipilating and it did leave my skin less irrated and smooth.I probaly wouldnt use again as it left a greasey feeling on skin and took a long time to absorb.I used on the back of my hands they felt smoother but didnot look less aged.

Tips: if using on hands you need time to allow the product to absorb.

I took the good with the not so good

When the Lakoko balm arrived I wasn't sure what to expect, as I inspected the little brown glass jar I went through the ingredients list.

The first ingredient on the list is coconut oil. I use coconut oil for almost anything from cooking, hair masks to makeup remover and massage oil. So I was really looking forward to trying it out!

I started by following the small instructions on the back of the jar. By massaging a small amount of balm into the area of choice. Avoiding the eye area. I applied to my clean face which is normally very sensitive and through this cold winter I've been dealing with dry unforgiving skin. I was surprised by how little I needed to use. As it's cold it was a semi hard balm to get out of the jar but melted on my fingers easily. I used the balm on my face for 5 days straight. I did notice that my skin felt more hydrated. But on the 5th day my skin started breaking out. Now this wasn't just a standard break out. I haven't seen my skin look this bad since I was 15. So I have stopped using it on my face.

My long curly hair has recently been lightened and the frizz is unbelievable. I have tried treatments, curling products, oils and cremes. All either weigh my hair down too much and make it look like I haven't washed my hair in a week or I notice little to no change. I applied the balm to the lower ends of my hair before I went to bed at night. I tied my hair up slept on it and washed my hair in the morning. My hair felt refreshed and less frizzier than normal which was great!

The smell is not my favourite but it's not unpleasant. I haven't had a chance to try it other ways to help but I will definitely continue to try many other ways for the balm to help me.

I'm not sure I would pay $25 to replace the balm when I run out as there are a few other products that are 1/4 of the price that seem to have similar results.

Tips: Careful not to take too much at first -As it melts it spreads a lot easier

It sounds like there are numerous ways to use this balm. Such a shame about the breakout :( Great review x

Lakoko Review

I like the packaging. It's quite compact so it doesn't take up any room - but the product just wasn't for me. I used it on a fresh clean face and dry lips and I found it made my skin itchy and dried out my lips even more. However, my partner used it as an after shave and thinks its brilliant. He suffered from really bad ingrown facial hair rashes. After using the product twice a day for 2days his rash was dramatically clearer. He isn't a fan of the scent as it is quite a strong floral - lavender scent but the product worked wonders for him. It left his skin smooth, soft and clear and will definitely continue to use it on a regular basis.

Overall a good product

The Lakoko balm was one of the most hydrating products I have used on my constantly dry lips. Unlike other chapsticks, my lips felt hydrated for a good 1-2 hours before requiring re-application. Although I solely used it as a lip balm, it can also be used on the face, body, and hair. What put me off this product was the taste that I acquired in my mouth using it as a lip balm - not very pleasant at all! Would I buy this product? Although it worked well, at $25/30 mL for a product that left an unpleasant taste in my mouth I probably wouldn't.

Such a versatile little product!

Knowing that I had a limited time to use this before submitting my review I popped it into my bag and carried it around with me so that it was easier to remember, it's small size made this perfect to carry around, not too small to get lost in my Mary Poppins bag but not too big to weigh me down. It's described as a nourishing balm suitable for all skin types and with many uses. After a particularly sore eyebrow wax I smoothed some Lakoko balm on to the area, it had a really lovely consistency and was quite cooling (without being too strong), I applied it a few times over the course of the day and the redness subsided. I also used it on the backs of my hands and around my nose, my skin is really suffering in the South Island winter, I think the balm is maybe a little too oily for me to put all over my face as I am sensitive to breakouts but I might try it one day and see if it soothes. I also used this as a luxurious lip balm and loved it. Overall I really liked this product, how versatile it was and hand bag friendly made it so easy to carry around with me. It has a lovely subtle scent and will last me a while as a little bit goes a long way. I am flying over seas tomorrow and it is pretty much the only beauty product I'll be taking on the plane with me!

Tips: Put it in your bag and carry it around with you, you never know when you might need it!

Lakoko Balm Review

The first thing you notice when you open the jar is the overwhelming scent of coconut and botanicals. A really beautiful scent. So far I have mostly used the balm as a moisturiser and hand cream. It is very hydrating and the scent lingers long after it has been applied. The balm can be used for many purposes so I am looking forward to trying out all the other uses for it.

Tips: Warm it up with your hands before using it as a mousturiser

Only using on my face

While everyone seems to describe the scent differently to what I can smell to me this balm smells and feels like vaseline it had me a little stumped at first thinking what can this do that vaseline doesn't ? Well it surely showed me up I'm only using it on my face as a night balm once applying it I notice that it does melt & a little goes a long way for me it seems to liquify like an oil. It takes its time to absorb just like an oil aswell. However upon rising in the morning I notice my skin is supple & hydrated. There has been no break outs since it's an oil balm imo & can only say good things for what's it's done to my skin as a night time skincare routine. Since I've only been using it as a skincare treatment Id probably repurchase. I wouldn't have known about the product without BR & only reached for it as I ran out of my face oil. Its been a win win.

Lakoko? Balmy!

I got this cute balm in the Best of Summer BBBE.

It comes in a really cute screw top pot. When you open the lid, the first scent of lavender hits you in the nose! I like lavender so that is fine by me.

The balm itself is very balmy - thick, white and when applied to the skin it melts on contact and absorbs into my dry skin quickly and smoothly, leaving a slightly greasy, shiny feel behind it.

Initially I wondered what I was going to use it for, but after having it sitting around for quite a while, I decided to give it a try on my very rough dry feet. I do a lot of walking so my feet get a bit of a hard time. I have patches of very dry skin on my heels and on the balls of my feet. I started applying the product each night to my clean feet and I'm very pleased with the result. The skin is softer, (almost completely cured) much more smooth, and the dry patches are no longer dry. And that isn't the only benefit, it leaves my feet feeling caressed and scented and contributes to a lovely feeling of relaxation when I get into bed.

While coming to do my review, I read the blurb above which prompted me to try some on my lips. Yum! you'd think the lavender scent would be too strong for lips but it isn't.

Overall this is a lovely product, and I don't think $25 for the 30ml pot is too much, as in reality it probably will last a while, though I'm well aware of my own tendency to use too much of any product at each application!

Most definitely a product to try and keep on hand.

Tips: Apply to freshly washed and dried feet before bed - lovely!!!

The balm of wisdom!

Thank you Beauty review for making me be a part of the Trial team for the Lakoko multi purpose balm, I am all for finding out if things are as good as they advertise and this balm had me surprised in many ways.

When I received this, I didn't realize it would be so small, my first thought was I would finish this within 1 week of use but was I wrong! Once I got past the size of the jar, I saw how beautifully simple the packaging was, the 30ml glass jar has a heavy luxury feel, its something about glass objects that give off a luxury vibe to them. The scent is quite unique, you can smell the coconut oil, a hint of citrus like the citronella candles and lavender, it has an uplifting relaxing effect.

While trialing this I used it as much as I could, and I used it a lot! Ive used maybe a teaspoon in the time span of a week and a half and Im impressed with how much is left.

My lips and nose have suffered from the cold windy weather so they were perfect things to use the balm on. I use the tip of my nail to scoop some out and using my finger tips heat up the balm before applying it. It isn't greasy unlike other multi purpose balms which I really like, it settles on to your skin very well. This has helped keep the dryness on my nose at bay but it hasn't helped my dry chapped lips, its only fixed the dryness of my lips for 10-15 minutes before I need to reapply more, I can see how this could be costly as the balm isn't cheap so I use a lip balm for my lips and the Lakoko balm for everything else.

It has been a favorite to add to my hair, it moisturizes the ends and gives a soft natural looking shine to my hair. Ive been applying this to my sons eczema on his cheek since I received this and it has nearly disappeared a week after applying the balm daily.

I would repurchase this, infact I will be getting one to keep in my handbag, overall it is a great multi use balm I just wish it would help with my dry lips, but it does help with everything else.

Very nice Product

Very nice product, you get a lot of product in such a small container, its very oily - yet isn't greasy, It didn't make my hands/fingers greasy when scooping and applying it, it worked wonders for my lips! which are very dry, i liked it on my skin - i didn't notice any changes with using this on my skin, but it still felt nice and refreshing, i think its a great product to try and use as its so versatile

Tips: You need to use a good amount, as a little doesn't go a long way with this product.
