As Kiwis, we grow up very used to the idea that the sun is a powerful and dangerous presence, peeking through that nasty hole in the Ozone layer. However, it's not until this year that I've really taken SPF products seriously. The past few months have been a whirlwind tour of searching for that elusive Holy Grail formula. One that doesn't sting, smell, or sit awkwardly under make up.
I jumped at the chance to trial this product as it always features on skincare gurus suggested sunscreen lists and I have to say, I have not been disappointed. The formula is very light, and being a chemical sunscreen, doesn't leave a white cast. I was interested in the claim that it's suitable for sensitive skin types as I sometimes get that awful stingy feeling after applying some sunscreens. LRP has us sensitively-skinned folks covered with this one as I was able to take it right onto the eyelids without reacting!
I like the packaging as it's not bulky and the opening is small enough that you can control the flow. Some have said that the formula is uncontrollably runny, but I haven't found that to be the case.
In terms of price point, this one is very reasonable. I recently purchased another of the known fail-safe sunscreens from beauty reviewers (EltaMD) and paid at least ten dollars more for it.
The 50+ UVA/B protection seems to deliver. I was recently in the sun and my chest (where I had applied a different suncream) turned up red and my face was the same colour as when I left the house that morning!
Overall, I would purchase this product in the future and would have no qualms about recommending it to others. I just wish I'd started taking sun protection seriously years ago!
I gave the La Roche-Posay sunscreen a go over the weekend and I got to say I really liked it. It didn’t feel greasy on my skin like most sunscreens. Smelt good and even when getting wet didn’t come straight off. Most of all it protected me from the sun while outside most of the day. Would definitely use again and recommend
Tips: Always apply when going out in the sun
