No Glow

I was really excited to be chosen to be part of this trial. I have started transitioning over to more natural products where possible so I am always interested in ranges I have tried before. The pack came beautifully packaged in a colourful box, with each product wrapped in tissue paper. The Autumn Glow description brought all sorts of wonderful, warm and colourful things to mind and the packaging was exactly in line with that. The price point seems really reasonable at $47.95 for the entire pack of eye crème, day crème, night crème and serum. The use of Manuka honey seemed like it would be a perfect ‘change of season’ advantage with aiding hydration, regeneration and also soothing the skin. The first thing I was surprised at was there was no cleanser. The 2nd thing was the size of the eye crème – it is a huge pottle compared to the size of the moisturisers! I like packs that are designed to last a set length of time with everything running out together. This eye crème would last for ages so purchasing another pack wouldn’t be a great option. The crèmes and the serum have a really strong ‘honey’ scent, which isn’t surprising but each time I used it, I felt like it should be sticky like honey - it wasn’t but it’s funny what tricks your mind plays on you! The crèmes are in little tube and product is easy to squeeze out. The serum has an dropper dispenser which worked well but I’m not sure it would be able to get every drop out when it starts getting low. My least favourite was the eye crème – a really really large pottle with a clear protective seal inside. I am not a fan of dipping my finger into products so I used a cotton bud to make sure everything stayed hygienic. Lastly, the results – my skin broke out like crazy. I persisted knowing a change of product can often cause that temporarily, however it didn’t get better. I didn’t notice any glow or radiance, and didn’t feel like I was getting a great deal of hydration or nourishment either. Overall I was really disappointed with this product – I’ll pass it over to my 13yo daughter and she can use it up, but I’ll be watching to make sure it doesn’t cause any skin irritations like it did with me. Back to the drawing board I think!

Tips: Use a cotton bud to get the eye crème out to ensure it stays clean and hygienic.

Smells amazing but basic products.

The package as a whole looks impressive, great as a gift for someone who you don't really know what kind of skincare they need - a general all round product. A day cream, night cream, serum and eye cream all in a pretty, embossed box. Pretty good value and pretty good products. The sizes are only small, just a couple of weeks use - although the eye cream is large for what it is and may last a lot longer than the other products.

The scent of all the products is beautiful, a fresh honey smell. This would have to be my most favourite thing about the products, the smell.

The day cream is very light, it soaks into your skin very quickly and easily and leaves you with firm feeling, matte skin after it dries. No spf - up to you if that's a plus or minus but I think it wouldn't smell as nice with sunscreen in it. Makeup goes on nicely over this cream, even with no primer.

The serum is very light. It says to massage a couple of drops over skin but I used about 6-8 drops, maybe a bit much but it was really light, I prefer a richer feeling serum, daily, but this serums instructions suggested less frequent use. The smell again is amazing.

The night cream is again quite light, I have normal to drier skin and I didn't feel this was enough for me even with the serum underneath. I could easily use this as a day cream, smells good too!

The eye cream is quite a generous size for eye cream, I will be using it well after the other products are finished. It is more rich than the other products and I only used a very small amount, I would like the night cream to be richer like this.

I had no reactions and no breakouts at all from these products, my skin is not usually sensitive though.

For me, these products seem quite basic, replenishing?rebalancing? radiant? refined?- no I didn't see anything like that, just nice products that soaked in well and smelt good. Nothing more nothing less. Would I repurchase? Maybe, but probably not. A cleanser would be a great addition to the pack which I'd like to try if it smells as good as the rest.

Glow day and night

This set was $40 and i was super keen to try. My skin is sensitive but has always responded well to products containing honey. First the day cream. Lightly textured and sweetly scented, this lotion is nice. I wouldn't say its great but it does a good job of moisturising my skin for the day. Only a small amount is required so even though it's a fairly small tube, it lasted me about six weeks. The eye cream is in a pot, which i have no problem with. I always wash my hands before applying any moisturiser. Very pale lemon in colour and with no scent, it just didn't have enough 'oomph' for my (ahem), over fourty, eyes. Would be lovely as an introduction to wearing eye cream to someone younger. Th night cream comes in the same size tube as the day cream. Heavier in texture, my skin loved this product. They say that you know when you have the perfect level of moisture, your skin won't feel either tight or oily...and that's my usual guage for a moisturiser. This night cream ticked all the boxes. More if a cream than the day cream, which was more of a lotion. The last product in this range is a serum. A wee bottle of golden delight! Comes with a gorgeous scent and my skin just drinks it in. I only apply three times a week, before applying night cream, and my skin looks all glowy in the morning.

Tips: At approx. $10 per item, this range is really good value for money. I hope that they end up selling the products separately as well as a set.

Sweet Smelling Natural Goodness

This collection comes in a beautiful bright box decorated in autumn leaves. It makes for an attractive gift for your skin care-loving friends.

All of the products in the set smell of, not surprisingly, honey! If you are a fan of this sweet scent, then you will adore wearing these products. Personally I love the smell and even my husband commented that he could smell honey on my skin.

This whole kit is made in New Zealand and contain natural ingredients; the day cream is 99% natural and the night cream is 98% natural. This is awesome for those who love supporting New Zealand brands and those who enjoy naturally made products.

I don't have especially problematic skin, and am comfortable with just using moisturisers, so I don't usually use serums. The serum smells lovely, and it soaks into the skin beautifully. The instructions say to use 2-3 times a week, but I'm not sure where in my routine this is supposed to fit in.

The day and night cream are favourites of mine. They are both very similar in consistency and application. I'm not really sure what the difference in in content; the day cream is described as adding instant hydration and the night cream is described as leaving you with a radiant complexion in the morning. Whatever they do, I do think my skin looks and feels very soft and moisturised when using these products, so they get a big thumbs up from me!

The eye cream feels really nice to apply, and it is very gentle to the eye area. I had already been using an eye cream which I believe had made a noticeable change to the dark circles under my eye, so it's hard for me to rate if this was brightening. That being said, the product doesn't directly claim to brighten, it says it helps collagen production to smooth and soften fine lines. Fortunately, I don't find I have too much of a problem with fine lines in my eye area, but I have enjoyed using this cream.

Tips: Overall a great set to give as a gift or to treat yourself; especially for honey lovers!

Treat Yo'Self!! Rich honey treatment

Having grown up with a mother who preached about manuka being the bee's knees, I was very keen to try out this range of products. The packaging is a beautiful yellow box, inside there is a branded tissue paper (very nice touch) wrapped around the four small products. Lets be honest here, they are small. But there is a good reason that I shall get to. Before I even opened the box I could smell the manuka honey, deliciously rich and sweet the scent increased with each reveal. To. Die. For.

Now on to the products: The Day Crème – I only need slightly smaller than a pea size of the crème to cover my face because it does spread very well (now you know why the tubes are only 30ml). It is very hydrating. Using this crème does mean that I need to use another product if I want sunscreen, whereas I prefer sunscreen already in my moisturiser.

The Night Crème – this is a gem for dry skin, my dry patches (which can sometimes get bad enough to look like grazes on my face and almost always feel delicate and thin) now feel like normal skin! It’s pretty amazing. However, everywhere else on my face this crème feels oily and heavy, so I’ve been applying it, waiting for it to sink in and then wiping off some of the excess. Otherwise my pores feel a bit clogged.

The Eye Crème – I had not used an eye crème before so this was exciting for me. Being a newbie I felt I needed a bit more instructions about when to use this, but ended up applying it each morning after the day crème. I have seen a decrease in some fine lines under my eyes but not much else has changed. This one feels more of a pampering product than a purposeful one for me.

The Serum – also a first for me! And again, I felt confused about whether to use it with the other products and when. In this instance, I used it at night (not sure if this is right) every third day. I still used the night crème after the serum had had time to settle but used less than normal. The serum comes in a very cute little glass bottle with a dropper applicator, which made it kind of a fun, sophisticated change. Once applied the serum glides on your skin, sinks in and almost instantly firms it. It’s like the feeling you get from a good mask, which I really enjoy.

All up I don’t think I would buy this product for myself again, from the care routine as a whole I have been getting more blemishes than before, however my lips are softer than ever before and my dry patches have been helped A LOT. That is where I think the glory of manuka really is. It is a very fun and sophisticated treatment pack in my opinion which would make a good gift for someone who wants to try out a range of luxuries without having to sell the kitchen sink. And a bonus is the fact that it’s a NZ brand!! P.s. I am definitely interested in looking at other products from their range.

UPDATE: It is now getting into winter and these moisturizers are no longer heavy at all, in face they're doing the best job of protecting and hydrating my skin!!

Tips: Do pair with a good cleanser, otherwise can feel too heavy at the end of the day.

Great Natural Honey Set

When this turned up I couldn't believe how lovely the packaging was! (it would be the perfect set for a gift set for someone) I loved how each off the products were wrapped in tissue paper and loved the buttery, golden packaging - it felt a little luxurious!

I know that generally, Manuka honey is really good for people who have skin issues and while I don't suffer from any extreme problematic skin, I still know that it would be really beneficial to use on my skin. I also prefer to use natural products when possible, so I was pretty excited to try!

The day creme was so lovely, very moisturising and made my skin feel very smooth. I used this as a base for my foundation and I had no issues with greasiness. The smell was lovely too! The only downside was that I do prefer my moisteners to have sunscreen in them but this one did not.

The night creme was my favorite to use. It felt nice and rich and was a pleasure to use! My skin felt incredibly soft in the morning. I also used the creme on my neck and hands as well and have noticed a difference in texture. However a little goes a long way, as it could break you out a little if you use too much, which sadly happened to me!

I am more of a eye gel kinda girl but switched it up by just using the eye creme during my night time routine. I suffer from dark circles and occasional puffiness but this didn't combat those at all. I did however find this to be very moisturising so if your concern is more of having dry skin around the eyes and fine lines, this would be great.

The serum was fun to use! I don't usually use serums and opt for natural oils instead but stopped using them to try this out. It's packed with all the good stuff (rosehip oil, vitamins A & C) My skin absorbed it nicely and I did noticed a subtle glow in the morning but I'm not sure if it was from the night creme or a combo of both.

All in all, it was great to use this. I had never used Manuka honey products on my skin before and was really glad I did. It would be amazing to try a body moisturiser within this range!

Tips: Don't forget your hands and neck! My hands felt so soft after using the night creme.

Wild Ferns Autumn Collection

I was lucky enough to be chosen to trial this product and I will admit I was not expecting much. I am not a big user of daily face products and tend to just randomly apply anything when I feel I need it. My skin type can only be described as more temperamental and fussy than a two year old child. My face especially is very particular about what it likes and tends to dislike most face products. But I was willing to give it a good try anyway.

First impressions were great, the gorgeous orange box is so attractive and immediately made me think it would be perfect as a gift. The four products are small and I was a little disappointed at first but after using them realised they will last ages as you really don't need a lot.

Day cream - This one was my favourite overall, it is so light and non greasy it's really lovely to use. It has a subtle honey smell which is quite pleasant. The only thing that would stop me making this a daily habit is the lack of sun protection. Being outside most of the day I really need sun screen so a face cream with a decent spf is a must.

Night Cream- I rarely use a night cream unless I've been in the sun or somewhere really drying as I tend to just break out during the night. I tried this one three nights over the week and can happily say all was well. It is also very light and pleasant to use. My partner was pleased to report the scent was not too strong as he was not keen on sleeping next to someone 'smelling like a honey sandwich' all night!

Eye Cream- It was not that clear on when or how to use this one so I just used it in the morning on top of the day cream. You need so little that this tiny pottle will last forever. I didn't notice any difference around my eyes over the 8 days but they do feel a bit tighter I think.

Serum - Again it was not clear on how to use this other than to apply 2-3 times a week. I decided to use it in the morning instead of using the day cream as I think both would be too much. I expected this to be too oily for my skin but I was surprised at how light it was. It comes in a nice glass bottle with a dropper but I found the dropper fiddly to use and it would not suck up enough product in one go.

Overall I was quite surprised at how well my skin reacted to these products. After 8 days of use my skin has not reacted, broken out or had any sort of tantrums. It does feel softer, looks better and seems to be enjoying the attention. I'm not 100% sold on the need for multiple daily products yet but will certainly increase my usage and will be continuing with these till they are gone. Not sure if I would buy them again, will decide once I've finished this lot but will certainly keep them in mind for a gift. I think this set would be suitable for anyone of any age and any skin type, it seems to be very versatile.

Tips: A little most certainly goes a long way with all of these. I don't think there is a fixed way to mix and match these products, just experiment till you find the order that suits you.

Wild Ferns Magnificent Manuka Honey Autumn Glow

When I picture the Brand Wild Ferns, I picture tourist shops which I don’t tend to go to so as a brand it’s not the first one I think of, it should be. The Wild Ferns brand has been successfully making skin products unique to New Zealand using unique NZ goodness e.g. Thermal Mud, Bee Venom, Kiwifruit, Lanolin and Manuka Honey for a few decades now. A hot lemon and Manuka honey soothes a sore throat but the idea of rubbing it into our skin is not our first thought but it’s not that crazy. Honey has wonderful wound care capabilities and provides numerous healing benefits. So with a better understanding of the brand background and the wonder that is honey, onto the products. A four product Day & Night Collection: A Day Cream, a Night Cream, an Eye Cream & a Facial Serum, a perfect travel companion given the sizes. They are presented in a vibrant beautiful autumn orange box with a band that slips off offering information on the products, inside all four products are wrapped in Wild Ferns tissue paper so as you unwrap it you really do feel you’ve been given a lovely quality gift. The products themselves are in simple but practical packaging nothing to get overly excited about but fit for their purpose. I’d rather the quality was inside anyway. My favourite one would be the Night Cream. A small simple tube with a screw cap & general guidelines for use. For a Night Cream it’s not heavy or greasy but it has substance. It feels luxurious as you apply it and it absorbs nicely, leaving a lovely hydrated, dewy feeling to the skin with all the benefits of that wonderful antioxidant Co Enzyme Q10 which gives extra radiance. It also has Apricot Kernel & Jojoba Oils & smells wonderfully of Manuka. Next fav, the Serum, in a little glass bottle with screw white dropper top & general guidelines. We’ve all got used to serums being oily but I think a serum should be more like a gel which is what this is like. It’s a cloudy looking gel, perhaps a little off-putting? But again there’s that wonderful scent and then when you discover what’s in it! Vitamins A, C & E, Botanical Oils, Royal Jelly & Bee Pollen, I’m not sure you could ask for more. A little goes a long way too, two to three drops will give you more than enough for your face, neck & décolletage. It goes on in a gel fashion but again absorbs beautifully, leaving you knowing you’ve just given your skin a pretty special treat. My least favs are the Day Cream & Eye Cream, it’s not that they’re not good, they are but I’m not in love with them. The Day Cream is packaged in an almost identical looking tube as the Night Cream & although light, easily absorbed leaving my skin hydrated but not greasy, has a slightly different scent to the others, more marzipan than Manuka, I really don’t like marzipan. It also has no sunscreen in it, I’d prefer it to have at least an SPF15. That aside, it still has some wonderful properties in it: Evening Primrose, Avocado, Olive & Raspberry Seed.

Tips: The Eye Cream comes in a simplistic plastic pot, no guidelines, on initial fingertip touch feels firm but light almost watery for a cream, once applied though, it left eye area a little greasy so not as light as first thought. But it’s an intensive eye cream & again so much good stuff crammed into it, Rosehip, Borage, Wheatgerm & Hazelnut oils, & a host of Vitamins A, C & E. So you can’t fault the amount of wondrousness going onto your skin. I only needed a very small amount & only at night. It smells very pleasant. All in all it’s a heck of a lot of good stuff & all so natural, really good value for money. I had no ill effects to using it either, no break outs & no puffy eyes in the morning. I don’t feel I’ve used it long enough to see any lasting benefits at this stage but with all those amazingly natural beneficial ingredients going onto my skin it surely can only be doing it good. I would suggest it’s for a dryer or more mature skin and for under $50 for four very clever products I’d say it’s great value and would also make a lovely gift/travel companion. TIP: Actually I gained this tip from the Wild Ferns website, Apply your skincare in order from lightest to heaviest. Therefore this eye crème should be used after your serum but before your moisturiser. They also state to use upwards strokes when applying the moisturisers and the very lightest of patting for the eye cream.

Very Great Products, but not for my skin type

Thank you Beauty review for letting me trial these products :) First off, I'll start with my skin type - it is combination (and tends to be more oily) Now with the cons: Replenishing Day Cream: No SPF in it! I always wear a moisturizer with a SPF, so that would of been nice in this. Ultra Enriching Night Cream: the only down side for me was that this was for normal to dry skin. For the purposes of the trial, I ended up using it every night and it wasn't too bad for my skin type, but i am going to purchase the night cream for combination skin, as i did find it was a bit too rich for my skin type and had some minor breakouts (nothing too bad though) intensive refining eye cream: I found this a bit to heavy to wear under my make up. Also, my main concern with under the eyes is dark circles, so this eye cream didn't really target that Radiance renewal facial serum: nothing bad to say about it :)

Now the positives: Day cream: at first i was a bit worried that this might have been too moisturizing for my skin. but it wasn't! It was such a good moisturizer and didn't contribute to any extra shine in the afternoon. As mentioned above, there was no SPF in it, so I would add SPF over top of it and that was fine too. It didn't make me any extra oily at the end of the day. Its actually an awesome product, but would not purchase again strictly because of the zero SPF. Night Cream: even though this moisturizer says its for dry/normal skin, it actually didn't cause my skin to freak out too much. I will continue to use this, I'll just change it to every 2nd or 3rd night. Eye cream: I notices the most difference using this. I used this twice a day (very, very sparingly). I do have very minor wrinkles around my eyes, nothing too major and using this I definitely noticed my eye area smoothing out. It was amazing. I don't know if I would repurchase as my main concern is dark circles, and i didn't notice any change in those, but it definitely helps if you have some minor wrinkles you want to sort. Serum. Loved the serum! The texture was perfect for me. It didn't make me feel oily and absorbed into my skin quickly.I followed instructions and used this only twice a week. I used to big squeezes of the dropper for my face, neck and chest. It was great and I think would have contributed to the overall effectiveness of the products. Overall, I think this is a great range. I got a lot of compliments over the last week say that my skin was more radiant (i have been going make up free 4 days out of 7 for the past 3 months), so that was a great confident boost. I definitely believe that it was due to these products. I'll definitely be repurchasing the serum and giving the other products, suited to my skin type a go :)

Tips: Use the products for your skin type to get the best results :)

Wild Ferns Autumn Glow Day & Night Collection

Firstly - what a treat to review 4 products! Thanks, BR!

The review... I arrive home and happily rip into the nice box containing the 4 goodies and immediately throw it away. Then, after looking at the back of each product and not seeing any instructions (yes, I know, you stick it on your face, Georgina!) I retrieved it back and cut out the small panel with some vague wording to keep in my bathroom where said goods will reside.

As someone who only sometimes and half-heartedly uses moisturiser, I was really excited to be using a night creme as well as an eye creme - something I had been wanting to do for a while.

I thought the moisturisers were quite small - however, you only need a pea size amount because this stuff is smooooth! So it will definitely last you the season; in this case Autumn (I see what you did there, Wild Ferns!)

Back to the "instructions" I was looking for earlier. Having never used a facial serum before, I don't know what it was for. And I still don't, because other than "pop it on a few times a week" there wasn't any indicator via the packaging. Do I put it on after the day/night creme? Before? Or on its own? I will never know. I also found the "dropper" to be very flash looking but essentially unnecessary. Sort of the same for the eye creme - do I just dab this under my eyes? Do I go all the way up to my brows? Do I just plaster it from my dark circles up to my brows with everything in between? Again alas, I will never know, there is no way for me to ever find out on my own accord.

The day and night cremes, as mentioned, are really smooth which is lovely. They are though, very strong smelling and that was a bit much for me going to sleep at night. The day creme wasn't so bad while I was out and about or working.

I like that the products say what percent they are natural, although they are all different.

I cannot give this product 5 kisses out of five for "Did it do what it said it would?" because other than the buzz words "replenishing", "ultra enriching", or "intensive refining" it doesn't say much else. Note: I happen to have the day, night and eye cremes in my bag and not the serum, hence knowing what each have written on them haha.

Overall, these are very lovely, smooth, scented and natural products. Its nice knowing I am putting something so honestly natural (whether that be 92% or 99%) and New Zealand made, too.

I hope that the stye in my right eye is not a product of the eye creme and no instructions. Do I put it directly into my eye? Is that how these things work? Time will tell :-)

Note: I hope to god people can tell I am taking the mickey out of myself and not Wild Ferns!

Tips: Don't be yuck - give your face a nice, warm, and gentle wash before using :-)
