Goodness Make up Remover

I saw all the fabulous reviews about this balm so I had to give this baby a try . After trying the trilogy balm I wanted to give this one a try .

I loved the packaging of this make up balm tin . It’s bright coloured and easy to identify amongst my other beauty products.

Consistency is a thick yellow coloured balm . It reminds me of a grainy balm that has a strong lavender and mixed herbs scent . It’s bold and strong.

I apply this to my full face of make up . I use a hot flannel to help lift off my make up . My foundation and eye shadow all come off with a breeze. My liquid eye liner and eye liner and mascara unfortunately did not budge. After multiple times trying all failed. I used my cleansing oil to get the remaining make up off.

After using it I was just a little bit disappointed that it didn’t take all my make up off . I can’t see myself repurchasing this one. I need one remover that it all not multiple removers.

Sadly Not a Fan

I had high hopes for this as I had fallen in love with one of its sister products - Chia Seed Oil. Sadly I could not fall in love with this product. Here's why:

Exceptionally greasy - The texture of this balm is just so greasy and thick that I felt like I was putting car grease or something on my face.

Irritation - This majorly irritated my eyes to the point it was painful. I do have super sensitive eyes but this was supposed to be a gentle eye makeup remover balm. It made my eyes super watery and blurry and I only applied a small amount. I would not recommend using to take off mascara or eyeliner if this is a sensitive area for you.

It did remove most of my makeup and it did feel clean afterwards. But I just felt Vaseline would have done the same job and for maybe a smaller price tag.

Not worth the money

I have recently jumped on the oil/balm make up remover wagon and this was a definite fail for me.

I am a dance teacher and wear a full face of make up that includes liquid lipsticks and waterproof mascara on a daily basis.

I was looking for a product that was not to expensive that I could use before cleansing my face to remove my make up.

I found this did not live up to my expectations. Yes it removed my foundation and the majority of my lipstick but removing my mascara did not happen. I felt I really had to scrub at my eyes to get anywhere and then even after removing all the product I have to grab another make up remover to get the mascara completely off.

It's also really hard to get off your skin without a face cloth and this really put me off.

I wont be using this product again

Tips: If using waterproof mascara use something other than this.

MareeB ponds cold cream was the best. I wish we could still get it here as it works and also reminds me on my childhood dance shows.

Years ago when I was dancing I used Ponds Cold Cream for removing heavy stage make- up. It worked like a dream. It's a shame you can't still buy if here. I think you can get it from Fishpond but it's pricey.

30% positive 70% negative

Received this as part of the recent Beauty Vault. I was so excited as I heard/seen people rave about it online. However I was underwhelmed.

This product comes in a little tin like pottle with a screw top lid. Aesthetically it looks really nice. Smells wonderful, organic like it is made with all natural ingredients. I like it, not overpowering.

Having since used it on a regular basis in the evening, I find I don't like scraping the product out with my nails. I have them semi long and the product gets underneath my nail I just don't like it.

Using the recommended amount (a finger nail size) I found it would wash off most of my make up not all of it (mascara). It was also really greasy, which I wasn't expecting. Didn't appreciate that. I found the product wouldn't come off no matter how much I washed my face and ended up using a facial scrub to remove the product completely. I found it annoying that I would have to have a second step in my make up removal process when I have used make up removal wipes, micellar water and they remove it all first time.

This probably seems mostly negative but it had some cool points. I thought it was so cool when it melted down in my hand, how clever is that changing substance. Also since there is 80ml of product I feel like this product will last me atleast 6 months if not longer. Being vegan ticks a big box, I love that in a product.

Overall, it's a shame I generally don't like it. It's not quick, it is greasy and does not remove all sorts of make up. This was a miss for me.

Tips: Does not remove easily, a facial scrub helps a lot to get this product off your face.

I considered it but, i'll be honest I am lazy. I don't want to do any more steps than I have to. I just like a product to go on and come off with no hassles

Have you tried using a warm, damp face cloth to wipe the product off with? That's what I use and it works great!

Did not like...

I was sent this product to review as part of a Trial Team.

The product comes in a really pretty metal tin with a screw-on lid. It is a solid waxy balm that you are supposed to scrape out to use. It melts easily in your hands and turns into a smooth oil. It has a strong botanical/floral fragrance that I find quite pleasant.

To use, the instructions state to scoop out a fingernail-size amount of product, melt in hands, and spread on face. You are supposed to use a warm washcloth to remove it.

The product was easy to spread on my face and felt pleasant to massage in. It did remove my makeup well, as most oils tend to do. However, it ran into my eyes and stung badly despite the instructions stating it can be used to remove eye makeup. I used a warm washcloth and wiped thoroughly, which removed the makeup, but it was very difficult to remove the oil. My face was left with a slightly tacky, oily film - though this was not a big problem as I always use a foaming cleanser after oil-cleansing.

I did not like this product for the following reasons: It stung my eyes. It was hard to remove as it does not emulsify with water like many other (Asian) cleansing oils/balms I have tried. It left an oily film that made it hard for my second cleanser to lather well.

I would not re-purchase this product.

Tips: Don't use on sensitive eyes as it may sting. You may need several rounds of warm/hot washcloths to remove the product sufficiently.

Definitely not for me !!

When this product arrived I was intrigued that it was in a tin rather than the usual tube that I'm used to, I wasn't overall keen on the idea as I did worry the product could become grotty if your digging your fingers into it daily. It's a good solid packaging which has got a bit of a 'candy' style theme, I quite like the colour scheme. The fragrance of the product is slightly lemony which I love (some might say borderline cleaning product smell) however the texture really put me of. Despite the blurb stating it's non-greasy for me it felt very greasy and just felt wrong applying it to my skin, I really wasn't keen to keep using it but in the interests of science I persevered to give it a decent go. My skin felt clean after using it and after rinsing there isn't a residual greasiness. Also it hasn't irritated my sensitive skin so that's a plus. The idea of break-up make-up is a good concept but as I don't wear very much make-up at all I can't say whether it lives up to it's name for a full make-up job.

Heavy Balm

I purchased this balm as I was looking for an oil cleanse first of all as part of my night time double cleansing routine. This balm has a very strong smell is the first thing I noticed, and is very thick. I found it hard to spread, and had to use quite a bit to have full coverage for face and neck. I don't like the fact that it doesn't emulsify when it comes into contact with water, so you literally have to firmly wipe off with a warm flannel which I feel is incredibly bad for your skin! It does leave a residue which has started to clog my pores on both cheeks, which never normally gets any spots. I will try using again and spend more time melting in my hands before applying to face, and trying to thoroughly remove all traces before moving onto my second cleanse for the evening.

No not for me

I never throw out products because I feel like when I spend my money on it I just don't want to waste it.....I actually threw this one out. I love cleansing balms they work amazing at removing all make up and when I ran out of my favorite balm I went into farmers and found this one I just dont recommend at all leave skin feeling so oily and then have to cleanse another 2 or 3 times just to washboard the balm its just more hassle than its worth its just too thick and doesn't emulsify well at all its what I would think putting margarine all over your face would feel like. Not great
