I was excited to trial this Very Gentle Hydra-mask because my skin was going though a bad patch of acne, serious redness and dry patches. I had been been hesitant to treat my skin to a mask for a few months incase of further irritation.
The Trilogy mask like the rest of the products in the range comes in a beautiful brown frosted glass jar. It’s a decent 60ml size so will last a while even with generous use. It also comes with a spatular to scoop the product out so you don’t need to use your fingers but I find this a bit fiddly and prefer to just wash my hands before using. Unlike the rest of the range the mask is a pale yellow colour and reminds me of a body butter. It states it's fragrant free but I could definitely smell a slight almond or berry fragrance. I personally found this very pleasant.
Depending on how my skin feels, the amount of mask I use varies. If my skin is feeling rather dry and stressed I use a good 20 cent size amount (old 20 cent size). Before I use the mask I like to throughly cleanse my skin with the Trilogy Cream Cleanser. My skin absolutely loves this mask. It absorbs very quickly and feels very light weight on so I only need to leave it on for 10mins. This mask is very gentle and there has been no burning, stinging or breakouts from this mask.
I remove any excess mask by gently patting it off with a warm flannel then I pat dry. I tend to use this at night so I follow it up with the Trilogy Restoring Oil then the Trilogy Moisturiser. I would normally only use a mask once a week but because I have been trailing these products I have been using it twice a week to really test it out. This mask definitely gives my skin a 'serious hydration boost’ and leaves my skin soft and smooth to touch. It such a luxury to use especially in the cooler months. Using this mask alongside the other products in the range I believe they are targeting my skin concerns. This is one of my favourite products from the sensitive range and well worth considering at the price.
I trialed the 'Very Gentle Hydra-Mask' over the past three weeks I have dry, sensitive, acne prone and a small amount of redness of my cheeks and nose. The packaging of this product is in a white cardboard box which is recyclable, with a light apricot/pink colour on the top of the box. It states on the box 'Sensitive' and lists the active ingredients 'maqui berry, SyriCalm and sweet almond.' I really like how on the box it shows that the product is certified by BioGro as a natural cosmetic, that is really important to backup that big statement.
The product comes in a glass amber 60ml jar with a screw top black lid. It comes with a spatula that you can use to scoop the product out as well as to spread it onto your face which is what I did to not waste any of the product or decrease the amount of germs going into the jar. The cream is a thin creamy balm texture and light yellow in colour it goes on easy and sits well on the skin. A couple of dollops onto my face is all I needed to completely cover it. The first time I had applied to a freshly cleansed face, I felt the soothing and calm feeling once again I sat for 15-20 minutes for the first time, then rinsed the remainder off with a warm face cloth afterwards my skin was so incredibly soft, and nourished with hydration this is really a miracle worker for dry sensitive skin!
The next time I tried it a bit differently, I applied the hydra-mask to a freshly cleansed face and waited about 30-40 minutes then I rubbed the remainder of the product that was left on my face into my face, neck and decollatage and left it on overnight then washed my face in the morning. Wow! What a punchful of hydration, my skin was glowing it was so hydrated! I think this method is perfect for those who suffer with very dry skin as it gives it a powerful burst of hydration that my skin needed especially in winter.
I tried two more times doing it the different ways and I enjoyed them all. This mask is going to be a staple in my beauty draw.
The price point is $44.99 for 60ml, I think is on the bit of the higher end although it really does do the job and there are not many hydrating masks out there for us sensitive skin gals. So I will be repurchasing this little beaut for sure!
