Nice and natural

Packaging is nice looks pretty while sounding natural, cleansing and skin softening. This cleanser comes with an organic cloth, looks a little budget.a plastic jar with a screw top lid inside is a heavy looking wax ever so lightly a coconut/rose fragrance hits me,with a back note of oil.

I scoop out 1/4 of a teaspoon, way to much, then I slowly massage this into my skin, this melts in quite nicely I go over my face eyelashes everything. I rinse the cloth then wipe it over my greasy skin. With blurry eyes I can see the cloth is loaded with makeup. So this natural cleanser removed my full face of makeup, impressive. However I'm left feel a little blurry as I think it gets into my eyes I also feel like I'm left with bit of a greasy film on my skin.

So cleansed with vision returned, a really good rinse and I mean a good rinse to remove any residue off this cleanser and I'm left with soft skin that's clean. I feel like I have to put a lot of effort into this to remove all.

So smooth

I love this stuff! Granted, I'm pretty slack at using it everyday however when I do use it I do not regret it! Leaves skin feeling so nice and the balm feels so nice when it's on the skin too.

Very hydrating

I've used this product a lot since receiving it in the september BRBB and I just can't seem to get used it, there's things that I both like and dislike about it..

This balm is is very dense and waxy, the consistency and texture is a lot like coconut oil. It has a light rose scent to it and the container is nice and sturdy, simple and practical. Also it comes with a cloth which I find is useful to use with it.

You need only use about a thumb nail sized amount each time, so although it's a pricey make up remover it's going to last a while. As you rub the balm over your face it seems to gather up your make up.

What I dislike about this balm is that it's so waxy it will not rise off with warm water at all, you need to wipe it off with a cloth and if you miss a spot you're going to be left with make up on your face. I can't help feeling like i'm not getting it all off..

But what I do really like about this balm is how dewy hydrated it leaves my skin looking and feeling, there's no need to use a moisturiser after washing with this cleansing balm so I guess it's kinda 2 in 1. For this reason I do feel that it's worth the money, although it's not something I would purchase as I prefer to rinse rather than to wipe my face.

My skin loves this!!

Best new product in a long time. This is great because it doesn't slop everywhere like many other makeup removers do. It feels gorgeous on my skin and really gets rid of ALL my makeup. Highly recommended.

Surprised!

I scored this in the September BRBB and I was curious as soon as I read about it on the card. I didn't really expect great things to be honest but had heard/read such great things about Trilogy that I was itching to take my make up off that night! I was a little perplexed & skeptical about how a balm & what feels & looks like Vaseline would remove all my make up & leave my face clean....

Well it does indeed remove make up - I still find I need to remove my eye make up - mostly mascara with an appropriate cleanser but everything else does just kind of melt off.

I do find myself cleansing still afterwards though & that's possibly more due to the fact that I don't feel clean from it. It kind of leaves my skin feeling a bit oily & slick & I hate that feeling.

The packaging is lovely. It's a tub with a screw cap lid, it'll be really easy to get every last bit of this out. It came with a little flannel that I don't really bother using - needs a few washes before it's going to be effective for a start & I feel it's just really too small to be taking the cake off my face.

The balm it's self is like a Vaseline consistency but maybe a little more solid. It has a subtle smell.

I don't think I would pay the near on $40 for this... I feel that's a little too expensive for it but all in all it's a nice product, easy to use and fairly hassle free.

Argh sorry BR! Sorry Trilogy!

I almost don't want to write this review because it feels ungrateful... but I genuinely can't warm to this product :(

The Trilogy Make-Up Be Gone Cleansing Balm was the item I was probably the most excited about in the September BRBB - and the one I had been dying to buy and try.

It comes with a neutral coloured facecloth for wiping away the oil post application, which is unremarkable - it promptly became obvious that I could interchange it with any of my face cloths for the same result.

The product comes in a brown plastic screw top jar with a white and red label, in keeping with the theme of most of the brands packaging. It's a classy enough product in terms of aesthetic appeal - though I will add that the concept of a cleansing product you need to dip your fingers into isn't my fave.

The balm is really quite solid - think coconut oil - in it's consistency and so you need to actively scrape out an amount to use. You then melt it in your hands and apply it to your face once it has liquified - making it hard to put the lid back on the jar until after you're done!

The reasons I don't really like this product (and it's totally a personal thing, I'm not for a second trying to imply it's not worth a go, simply that it doesn't suit me) come in with application. I find that compared to liquid oil cleansers this is very heavy, and sits on my skin feeling a bit gluggy no matter how little I use. I find that it doesn't remove my eye makeup well, and I need to go in after with micellar water etc... I *do* wear some pretty intense blacks on my eyes sometimes but this struggles even with my lighter gel liners etc.

It doesn't rinse away as cleanly as the liquid oil cleansers, and when I wipe it away it leaves a film - I find that it definitely needs to be followed with another cleanser, which - when there are products which handle both tasks - seems like a flaw in a comparatively expensive product.

Post application my skin retains a slightly oily feel - not excessive, but it doesn't feel 100% clean, which is disappointing.

The positives are the blend of ingredients = rosehip, mango, coconut, sunflower, olive.... clearly Trilogy have gone out of their way to source and combine the current list of natural 'in-products', which shows an attention to current research and trends, as well as a market awareness that I love seeing from brands. Trilogy are kiwi too, which is always great, and they're natural. The product is a generous size, so if you love it then the steep pricetag becomes more affordable worked out on a cost-per use basis. Also, it smells divine!

Conclusion: this product and my skin (which tends towards oily at times and is much less acne prone lately but broke out like mad using this) don't agree, but that doesn't mean it's not worth trying as there are so many positives.

Tips: See if someone will siphon you off a sample of theirs before you commit to buying. Mum is going to try mine before opening hers and I totally recommend this as opening and using mine was an expensive mistake, unfortunately.

I totally agree with this post and not great at writing these, so you said it all for me.

Oh Chelsea, your comment is hilarious as you just described me, lol! No wonder it suits me! Although I'm more 'normal' skin and I do wear plenty of eyeshadow.

Great, balanced review Trudi. Sounds like it might be worth a try for someone 40+, dry skin, who just wears mascara or a light foundation/BB cream and is looking for some fab ingredients?

yup we must just have very different skin hey soozie? Your reply clarifies why I'm trying NOT to be like 'it's cr*p, don't buy it' - because clearly its not the product at fault, just it's interaction with my face!

Just goes to show how different we (and our skin) all are. As you know, I hate micellar and have to go in with an oil balm cleanser afterwards and here you are having to do the complete opposite lol. For me, hot facecloth, rinse and repeat is the key

Love it!

This definitely isn't the type of product I would normally buy for myself, but since using it I'm contemplating repurchasing after I finish it!

I've been using to remove my makeup when my skin is feeling a bit drier and needs a bit of extra attention. The balm is so silky on the skin!

It definitely removes all makeup - even waterproof mascara! I normally find that baby-oil is the best to remove my mascara, but this works just as well.

A lovely balm

When I saw another Trilogy product in the box I was really happy to see it in there. What I enjoy about Trilogy is that its made in New Zealand and its certified by Bio Gro. My skin type is dry . I've only tried wipes, cleansers and oils for make up removal. I've never seen a balm before. This product is fairly new from Trilogy .

This balm comes in a brown plastic container with the Trilogy branding on it. On the outside of it says that the ingredients are rosehip, mango and coconut. This also came with a cloth. The texture of this balm is like a waxy semi solid consistency. It smells to me like rose and herbs. Has a very natural smell to it.

I normally heat this trilogy cloth under warm running water. Meanwhile I rubthe balm in the palms of my hands to heat it up. I smooth it out all over my face. I put the cloth over my face and gently rub any make up off.

This balm gives my skin so much moisture. This balm did successfully remove all my make up. I enjoyed the addition of the cloth. I thought this was a unique idea to add that in with this cleanser. I enjoy the natural smell it has. I would definately buy it .

Make up be gone

I'm totally in love with this product. It's natural, kind on my skin and it takes my days worth of make up off without a trace. A lovely creamy formula that you rub over your entire face eyes included (no eye irritation), a nice warm cloth and a clean face without dryness. So gentle on the skin, I am prone to dry skin and this cream doesn't strip any moisture probably adds some. I will definitely be using this product again.

My review on the Trilogy Make-up be gone...

I was very excited to try this product. I don't have any other make up removal products so this was an added bonus to my dressing table. The first time I used it , worked magically! You do need to wash your face with your regular face wash to have it work well I would say. The second time i used it, I put it straight onto my face without trying to wash it first and that wasn't a good idea. left my face oily and the make up ended up all on the cloth and I couldn't wash it off. It works best for that make up you miss when you wash your face. I would use this product again for that exact use.

Tips: Wash your face first. Use it not as a full on make up remover but as a step 2 (step 1 washing your face with your regular face wash)
