La Roche Posay® Effaclar Micro-Peeling Purifying Gel Cleanser Reviews

I have been so impressed by this cleanser. I was a little worried that it would end up being really harsh as a lot of acne washes are. This in my opinion only exacerbates the problem as it dries out the skin causing it to break out more with an overproduction of oil. The first time I used this oil it noticed how gentle it was. There is little to no fragrance. I happily used it over my entire face. Initially, I was just going to use it around my jaw, forehead and neck, as these are my problem areas. However, the fact that is was so gentle I have not had it drying out my skin or making it feel tight. I still continue using my face creams. I have noticed that my cystic acne around my neck and jaw have really improved and my skin is starting to become smoother. I can't feel any breakouts or lumps coming up. I often need to have my hair down around my neck as I get quite unsightly acne that I just can't cover-up. This cleanser might be just the thing I have been looking for for a long time. The cleanser itself comes in a large tube. It is easy to dispense exactly the right amount. The gel is smooth and feels lovely on the skin. I would absolutely recommend anyone with problematic skin to give this product a go. It has definitely healed some of my persistent marks and also prevented reoccurring acne from doing just that! This cleanser will last me quite a long time as it is a very generous tube. I will definitely be looking into other products by La Roche Posay. I am very grateful to try this and review it.

My first initial thought of this product was its really appealing packaging and its huge size! I haven't come across a cleanser of this size before and better yet a little goes a long way as its foaming so this will last a while. I tried this in my normal skincare routine so used it three times a week but just exchanged it out for a cleanser i would normally use. I used with my cleansing brush, just applying by hand and even in the shower was great. The scent is slightly strong initially but it does leave your skin feeling fresh. I feel like my skin was soft and slightly firmer. Definitely a refreshing cleanser. I don't have super oily skin but followed by a skincare routine e.g toner, moisturiser, it's perfectly fine to use and not drying. For normal skin it may be drying for you if you don't moisturise after but definitely use some and it worked great for me. I am less oily around the nose, I feel like this would be a great product for anyone with even slightly oily skin. My face actually has less red marks and I haven't had a breakout since using it. Personally for my skin I would only use this max about three times a week - not daily. Great product for a good price will last a long time. I will definitely continue to use this.

The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Micro-Peeling Gel Cleanser is made of thermal spring water which La Roche Posay claim will rehydrate and provide calm your skin. I found it easy to use from the squeeze tube and I little was enough to wash my face and neck with a foamy lather. It cleaned my face easily and no greasiness was experienced and made my face feel effectively cleaned.

The product had a subtle fragrance but as I am using it in the shower it did not make a difference. I found that my face was left refreshed and ready to apply my moisturiser. However, it just so happened that I had a bit of break out over my face during the same time I started using the product. I can’t say that it was due to the use of the product or that it was coincidental (rarely get breakouts).

The product was really easy to use and has a flip cap that seals easily, I have taken the product with me on travelling and had no spillage. The easy to use squeeze tube was ideal for a facewash. The product itself is watery and light and spreads easily. It fits in easily with my lifestyle and thought it was a great addition to the rest of my La Roche products. A little bit does a go a long way and using it every morning and night I expect the product to last for a few months.

The product is targeted for people with oily, blemish or/and acne-prone skin. The foaming body and facial wash are specially formulated for persistent and stubborn imperfections. Currently, it is far and in between that I have breakouts, but still find that this was a great product. Retails for between $28 and $35 for 200ml. It is quite expensive for a face wash. However, I could feel the removal of dead skin cell and have unclogged my pores and it left my skin soft, clean and refreshed.

I would recommend the product for someone with acne or problems with blackheads.

I tried this 1 x a day for 5 days on problem areas of my face and back. I found it dried out spots/congestion quickly and effectively but was drying to the point I have some flakey skin on my forehead/nose where I used it. I think may be better on oilier skin than mine as mine is more combo (dry with oily patches). But for spots I would say this is great.

I have previously used other products within the Effaclar line, so I was curious to try this. The term "Micro-Peeling" made me feel a little nervous but I was still curious to try it out. I usually break out during that "time of the month" not only on my face but occasionally on my back as well. I love how it gently exfoliates my skin so that it feels soft and smooth afterwards but doesn't feel like it's been stripped. I did notice a major difference in how much faster my acne cleared up, especially on my back, which is no doubt due to the Salicylic Acid. I would repurchase this as its the only product I have used which really helped with my back acne.

I’m definitely guilty of using harsh scrubs to exfoliate, but I have seen the error of my ways and was keen to try a solely chemical exfoliator.

You get a generous amount of product in this tube. It lathers slightly, but being a gel it doesn’t get super creamy.

I saw menthol as an ingredient, and was worried that it would give the ‘tingly’ sensation that peppermint extracts and oils often have. Fortunately it didn’t, and I couldn’t smell the menthol either.

I didn’t notice dramatic results immediately, but with continued use every 2nd day the bumpy skin on my legs and upper arms has started to clear slightly. I’m happy to keep using long term to improve these areas, as the product is gentle and so far hasn’t caused irritation on my body or face.

A good intro to chemical exfoliators, and will definitely help to gently clear acne. Love!

I do not have oily skin I tend to be more combo with some areas that can be dry. However I do get a lot of congestion and excess sebum around my nose and chin area which makes my pores very visable and it can often look like small blackheads.

I did not use this product all over my face as a full face cleanser due to some areas being dryer but I did use on my nose / chin area.

The product is very gentle and makes my face feel very cleansed without over drying my skin, it is very efficient and I noticed a difference in my chin/nose area quite quickly. It minimised my pores and reduced most of the congested areas giving my skin a more purified and smooth look. A small amount goes a long way! I did have a few pimples whilst using this and it reduced the redness and they vanished quite quickly.

I use this like a standard cleanser and massage in small circular motions and then rinse with warm water. I then applied moisturiser and it made my skin look so smooth and felt really soft. I would definitely recommend if you have combo / oily skin

I like the squeeze tube as product comes out easily. One thing I can’t get over is the smell. It smells strongly of alcohol no matter how much you use and it really irritates my skin.

I still try to persist, wet my face and lather the product. To be completely honest I haven’t noticed much. It doesn’t seem to improve my skin greatly. I also haven’t noticed it reducing sebum and my blackheads and pimples are still as visible.

It rinses off well, removes slight makeup.

My skin doesn’t feel particularly soft or refreshed afterwards. I haven’t noticed a difference so far. I just can’t get over the smell. I will try to continue using it to get a good idea of whether it works but currently I wouldn’t repurchase.

I absolutely love La Roche Posay products so was super stoked to get on this trial. It comes in a big blue 200ml squeezy tube with a flip top lid, I find the packaging appealing.

I have dry skin and get spots.  This came at a great time as I had a breakout on my chin and forehead and a really stubborn pimple between my eyebrows. This is targeted at oily, acne prone skin.

It is a clear gel consistency and you only need a small amount, you need to wet your face first to get it to lather up.  It has a subtle fresh scent, I get no stinging or irritation at all which is great as my skin can be sensitive.

I like to really concentrate on any areas that I have spots, it leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh and seriously clears up spots super quick! I also have milla on my forehead and this seemed to clear it up at least 90% woohoo.

The first week I started using it I got a bit of flaky, dry skin particularly around my nose, corners of my mouth and on my eyelids of all places lol. All I did was add hyaluronic acid back into my routine and it went away after a few days, I have not had that problem since.

The biggest change I have noticed is how incredibly smooth my skin is, my skin looks so healthy and I am loving going bare faced! I really love this product and the entire Effaclar range is so amazing.  I will definitely be repurchasing this. If you want beautiful clear and smooth skin then you need this in your routine.

I have mildly sensitive acne prone skin. This cleanser effectively cleansed my skin and also had a cooling sensation. I couldn’t say for sure if it has improved my acne as my acne is mild, but it certainly has not made it worse or caused and problems for the sensitivity that sometimes occurs. I would recommend this product to others with skin like mine.
