Skin Perfection

Received this product in my Best Beauty Box Ever Comes in a generous 200ml plastic bottle with flip lid. Suitable for all skin types to dissolve make up, unclog pores while it tones & smoothes skin. Easy to apply with a cotton pad & works really well on stubborn waterproof mascara leaving no traces of make up or build up. Makes my skin glow & feel fresh without drying it out. I use this product morning and night before applying moisturiser. Another great L'Oréal product that I will continue to use.

L'oreal Skin perfection Micellar water

absolutely love this cleansing water, I definitely recommend using this amazing product. It is great with keeping skin silky smooth while cleansing face and removing all makeup on your face, the micellar has no distinct fragrance to it, and is so great on my sensitive dry skin

L'Oreal Micellar Water

This was on special from Countdown for about $6, and it is the fourth micellar water that I've tried. In a tall and slim bottle there is 200ml in the bottlw which was the same amount in the Garnier one. I found it to be pretty much the same as the Garnier one. Cleansing with no sticky residue, this unscented water cleanses my skin and slightly refreshes it. I wouldn't use it as my only cleanser to remove any make up, but I don't with any other micellar water. Used as a secondary cleanser or as a cleanser on an unmade face it's pretty effective.

Mmm noooo

I was given this micellar water by a friend who didn’t really like it.

The product comes in a clear plastic bottle with a white flip top lid. Easy to open and use, and the same shape as my L’Oreal cleanser.

I have no idea about micellar water and this is the first time I’ve tried it. I wasn’t sure what it was supposed to do until after I read the labelling, and I thought I’d try an experiment. I had been out with quite heavy foundation and primer. When I got home I wiped one side of my face with micellar water on a cotton pad, and the other with ordinary warm tap water on a cotton pad. Then I wiped each side with dry cotton wool. Sad to say, the warm water side of my face was much cleaner.

It was that simple, and unfortunately didn’t inspire any confidence, not only in this brand, but in any other brand, of micellar water.

Definitely a product that is not for me.

I like it but wouldn't buy it again

I bought this micellar water as I've previously loved the Garnier water but I really wanted to try something new. This is a 200ml bottle and I paid around $11 for it from Countdown. It is cheap, but the Garnier one is twice the size and cheaper still. Loreal has always been a more expensive brand though and I guess I thought it may have done something extra!

Packaging wise this looks nice and sleek with a kind of rectangular bottle but it's actually really impractical. I find micellar works best when you only use a minimal amount. If you use too much, I find it stings my eyes. This packaging makes it really hard to only get a small amount out. Even if you try and not even squeeze and just hold the bottle upside down, it will still be hard to just get a small amount.

I use this pretty much exclusively for removing my eye makeup. I like to wear shadow, liner and a lot of mascara. This definitely does a great job at removing it all. I'll occasionally use this on my face if I've gone makeup free for the day but I prefer to just use a normal cleanser on my face most of the time. Personal preference really, I think it would be fine as an all over face cleanser. You would go through a lot of cotton pads though, especially if you wore heavier face makeup.

I really have no idea if this tones your skin like it claims but I think everything else it says is true. Even though I like this, I won't buy it again. I honestly can't see any difference between this and the Garnier so I'd rather buy the cheaper one and get more product!

Good brush cleaner

This 3-in-1 micellar water gently cleanses while removing make-up from the face, eyes and lips.  It also removes impurities and is formulated without alcohol or fragrance and is hypoallergenic.

I bought a bottle of L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3-in-1 micellar water when the whole hype around micellar water erupted in early 2015.  I was trying to get my hands on a bottle of Garnier Micellar Water but that stuff was as scarce as hen's teeth, so I had to settle for this one.

Initially, I wasn't really impressed.  It did the job and removed my make-up as promised but it didn't leave my skin feeling really clean.  I still felt like I needed to cleanse afterwards.  I ended up not using this product as intended.  Instead, I'd wash off my make-up in the shower and then use the micellar water afterwards to remove any stubborn eyeliner or mascara that had smudged around my eyes, before toning and moisturising.

I also found that my bottle had a tendency to leak.  Each time I placed a cotton pad over the opening and upended the bottle, I'd have micellar water pouring out around the sides of the white cap (where it was supposed to be 'sealed').  It was really messy to use and definitely not travel friendly!

Micellar water does have a six month expiry date after opening (check your bottle) and by the six month mark, I'd only used just under half the bottle.  There was no way I was going throw the rest of the bottle out, so I used it over a few months to clean my make-up brushes.

I wish I'd know about using micellar water to clean brushes sooner!  Not only does micellar water make it really easy to clean make-up brushes, its much quicker and it doesn't leave any soapy residue in them that takes for ever to rinse out (fluffy powder brush and blusher brush, I'm looking at you!).  Cleaning brushes this way is super easy. I use two empty coffee jars and place about 2cm of micellar water in one and about 2cm of clean, warm water in the other.

Taking once brush at a time, gently swish the brush around in the micellar water before squeezing out the excess against the side of the jar, then rinse the brush by swishing it around in the warm water for a while.  Gently squeeze out the excess water before wiping it lightly on a clean, dry towel and leaving the brush to air dry on a flat surface (don't stand them upright while wet as the glue in the ferrule will soften and your brush bristles will start to fall out).  Repeat with all brushes, changing the micellar water and clean rinsing water as needed.

Will I be purchasing another bottle of micellar water?  Yes, but not to use on my face.  I'll probably find whatever is cheapest or on special, as I want to use it to clean my brushes.  It's so much easier than soaping up and rinsing brushes at the sink and the make-up just seems to dissolve off the bristles, especially lipstick, foundation, concealer and cream eyeshadow!  And it saves the skin on my hands from drying out when washing multiple brushes or brush sets.

Tips: If you haven't tried using micellar water to clean your brushes, try it.  It may change the way you feel about cleaning your brushes regularly.

Does it work for make up sponges and pads?

Maree, I buy Micellar water now only to use on my brushes and not my face! I just get whichever one is cheapest. It makes cleaning lipstick, concealer & foundation brushes so easy and the come clean quickly, too.

I'll try it for brushes Silvene, as I don't find it any good for skin!

Prefer Garnier or Simple more

I prefer Garnier or Simple micellar waters more. I find the Loreal one is sticky and takes a bit longer to remove my makeup- it takes a bit more tugging. On the positive, there is no alcohol or fragrance.

Another excellent Micellar Water

So when I finally ran out of my Simple Micellar water I was ready to try something new (even though it was amazing). Lucky for me this ended up being on special at Farmers.

The simple packaging really appealed to me. The bottom of it is clear, so it is really easy to see how you have left. The lid is white and fits tightly. The bottle is kind of rectangle shaped which makes it hard to hold. The thing I don't like about the packaging though is that when you are trying to dispense it the plastic of the bottle is quite squeezy so I always end up using more than I need to, or spilling it all over the place.

I have found though other than the not overly useful packaging the product is pretty awesome. So it is clear and unscented. I use this as a second cleanse and it works really well to get any excess off my skin. It also manages to remove my waterproof mascara which I love it for. It makes my skin feel nice, and it hasn't caused any issues with my skin either which is great.

I like this micellar water although I don't think it does anything different than the simple one which is cheaper.

My first micellar experience

After searching every supermarket and chemist in Wellington looking for the Garnier version of this product I gave up and bought this.

It is half the size of the Garnier alternative and a few dollars more expensive but hey. The packaging looks a lot nicer but isn't super practical as it spills easily.

I have just finished my first bottle and have been using it nightly. I haven't had any breakouts in the time I've been using it So I'm pretty happy and I love the way it feels so gentle on my skin and doesn't have that alcohol smell some makeup removers do. Although I wouldn't recommend this as a product to remove makeup alone as I've done it before and it takes a while and a lot of cotton pads haha. I've just bought the Simple micellar so will be comparing the two shortly :)

Tips: I remove my makeup and cleanse in the shower, afterwards I'll use the micellar water on a cotton pad or 2 to remove any remaining makeup :)

New favourite!

I love this product more than the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Cleanses well, it's leaves a nicer finish and feel on the skin. Although, the packaging is hard to control and the water gets everywhere and over soaks my cotton pad.
