Tips: try not to apply to hard as it can smudge and blotch real easy
I have used a few different eyeshadow sticks and this one stacks up pretty well.
It comes in a very standard eyeshadow stick size, with a black background and the colour of shadow on the end. It is easy to hold and apply.
I have the green, it is nice and pigmented and has a good metallic finish without being glittery. You can apply and then easily blend, it does glide on very smoothly.
The reason I have not scored this higher is because it doesn't have huge staying power and does wear off in the crease. This is however greatly improved by using an eye primer.
I have not found this hard to sharpen like some others below. It fits in my standard double size makeup sharpener and I just rubbed the tip a bit on my hand to smooth the new fine tip down.
The cost is great, this is a fun way to play with some funky colour!
Tips: Use an eye primer!
Great eyeshadow, with intense pigment. I stocked up on a few colours in the states where its bout $4. The creamy formula glides on easily for a quick eyeshadow application. I did find that sharpening after the initial tip was worn down wasted a lot of the product and left a sharp edge to the casing. Could be improved if it twisted out but the colours are great especially the neutral metalic tones for every day
I got this in a pack from Farmer with some other products. I have two of these from the mainline but in neutral shades. This Kate Moss one I have in the green colour. I have green eyes but I don't find this 'green' enough (dark enough maybe?) to make my eyes pop. I have a green Dior eyeliner that I reach for over this if I want to really emphasise my eyes.
It is a very soft formula and is easy to apply, but I find if worn all over the lid it creases very easily. This is best just used as an eyeliner.
Once you wear down the tip sharpening it is a massive pain - I had to buy a jumbo sharpener to use on these. You waste quite a bit of product sharpening and it can leave a jagged edge that can tug on your eyelid. Not ideal.
I won't be repurchasing - these crease horribly on me and sharpening the product is way too much of a hassle.
I got this product for free from Farmers and I love the colour ( it was a greeny colour) it was very pigmented beautiful. It created a nice effect for my eyes and looked very good paired up with a Kate Moss nude lipstick. However the colour did not last long on my eyelids even with an eye shadow primer. I was also unimpressed at the amount of the product. the size of the eye shadow stick was very big but there was little eye shadow product. I might buy it if it was on sale.
I bought this online when it was on sale and was excited to use it- I was not disappointed. The colour was great- Bad Girl Bronze and it blended in with my skin tone. It was an easy and smooth application but yea, as I used it more, the tip got blunter and it was harder to do finer lines. All in all a good product.
I bought this on a visit to the US for about $4.
It's great stuff; beautiful vibrant colour (mine was Bad Girl Bronze), and soft enough to apply smoothly without that tearing-your-eyelids-off feeling some brands have.
Initially the point was sharp enough to make a fairly fine line, eyeliner-style; later as it got blunt, I used it to cover my whole eyelid like a regular eyeshadow.
Unfortunately it didn't take long for the 'lead' to be worn down flat; and upon closer examination, I found it didn't twist up like a lipstick, nor could it be sharpened like an eyebrow pencil. The 'lead' is set into a plasticy pencil-shaped thing, and the small cone of product shaped like a pencil tip is all you get! (At least, all you can easily access; there does seem to be more hidden inside that I could dig out with a bobby pin if I so desired, but I'm not sure how much.)
The product is so nice that despite feeling slightly cheated, I went to buy more - only to discover that in New Zealand, it goes for $16-$20 a pop! Yeesh.
I'll stock up again if I ever get back to the US, definitely; it's a really, really nice formula. But I am disappointed with the (NZ) price and misleading quantity of product.
These shadow sticks are gorgeous! I’ve spent ages trying to find a colour and may just have to let that fantasy go as they’re discontinued. Rimmel do shadow sticks exceptionally well; ultra pigmented, long lasting and bloody good value, especially if you buy during a sale. I have no negative things to say except shade range was limited and you have to sharpen them, but even that is scratching the bottom of the barrel for some constructive criticism: Give the normal shadow sticks a go - my favourite is bluffing!
