I picked up the Montagne Jeunesse Cucumber Peel Off Masque when I was running out of things to review - it appealed because of the sachet packaging, making it an affordable way to test out a product without committing to a big bottle. As it happens, I'd buy a bottle of this.
The sachet is 10ml, and I got 3 good masks out of this. I could have got four, I think, but I covered my jaw and part of my neck as well. The packaging looks cheap and the picture of a girl with cucumber slices and leaves over her eyes isn't appealing, but in a small package I don't mind bad packaging.
The mask itself is a thin, very pale (think translucent with a hint of colour) green. It has a scent of cucumber and something else I can't put my finger on but smells citrusy - lime, maybe? It dries clear, and basically just shows as a shiny layer on your skin that dries matte.
You apply a super thin coat to your skin, wait until it dries, and peel it off. As you peel, it drags impurities out of the top couple of layers of your skin.
Personally, I find this is mildly refreshing and pleasant to use. It doesn't work miracles, but my skin doesn't need miracles at the moment, and it's a nice pampering face mask that doesn't cause my skin to react in any way other than to give up any ickies sitting in the top layer/s.
It washes easily off hands, and peels easily off the face once dry - although it can, and will, stick to hair so avoid your brows and hairline.
I have use a lot of Montagne Jeunesse masks so it only seemed right to get the Cucumber peel Masque to give that a whirl too. I bought this from Farmers on a buy 2 get one free deal! Winning! I haven't liked peel off masques in the past because quite frankly it hurts! I think that has a lot to do with the peach fuzz I have on my face though. I love these packets because they have a perforated opening to make it appear as a jug with a spout once opened.
There is more than enough product in the sachet to cover your entire face generously. The consistency is rather sticky but feels so refreshing and cool on my skin. It has a faint cucumber scent to it which adds to the refreshing feel. I smooth it on to my face ensuring that I don't get it in my eyebrows or near eyes and mouth. I actually add to the experience and put cut cucumbers on my eyes and relax for fifteen minutes (as suggested on the packet) until the mask is dry and ready to peel off.
I start from the forehead at the top of my hairline and pull down from there. It comes off in bits and pieces but slowly a glowing, new layer of skin appears. I find the most painful parts to peel off are the cheeks so like a band aid tend to tear that part off quickly. In the past I have gotten some in my eyebrows and let me tell you the pain to pull it off there ouch!
After peeling all the masque off and washing away any excess; my skin is literally glowing with a fresh new canvas of skin to work on. The dead cells have gone with the peel and left me with smooth supple and revitalized skin. I use these when I feel all gunky and after a night out with heavy make up. My pores get clogged and this remedies that perfectly.
Tips: DO NOT get it in your eyebrows! It hurts to pull it off them
