good quality for price

Maybelline is one of many foundations I use for a quick fix up, I have this foundation in Sandy Beige and found it to be quiet nice, definitely gives off a healthy glow towards my complexion. The foundation itself is light and thin and applies very smoothly on skin. It does stick to what it says about superstay 24 hours, it is very long lasting and is great for those rainy days. I would recommend product to anyone wanting just a quick fix me up, ladies on the go and wanting to apply foundation that's hassle free but gives off great coverage

Very Smart

I received this as part of the BR trial which I am thankful for as this was the first time I have tried a foundation product. Unfortunately I picked the wrong shade (Nude Beige) from the swatch, it was far too light. But I will put that down to newbie experience.

Packaging was glass so you could easily see the shade of the foundation. Had a white top lid, very smart looking. The pump also distributed a nice amount of product, only took 2 pumps to do my face. Consistency was quite liquidy. Does smell like "cosmetics" but no distinct scent.

I found this surprisingly easy to blend, I used a damp beauty blender and the end result looked really nice. It felt very lightweight which I found surprising for a foundation product. Had it been the right shade I feel like this would be a good foundation option for me.

It definitely stayed.

I was drawn to this at 40% off in a Farmers sale, and thought 'why not?' I have realised why this is not for me. On my skin, it oxidises. I start out looking lovely. Really good coverage, it builds really well, it stays put. Now, normally I wear my foundation as a medium coverage for work, and I hadn't previously noticed any issues with it, maybe because I set my face with a slightly light powder, and this had covered it. However... on this occasion, I'd decided for a full coverage, fully glammed look. This did not go well. Within the hour, it looked 2 shades orange-er on my face, and I felt like a bad Little Britain caricature. It had to come off. Super disappointed. I'll use it up as a sheer coverage, but I've learned my lesson about building it up for a fuller coverage. Maybe I'll throw some lightening drops in it and see what happens, or maybe next time there's a sale on, I'll swatch a lighter shade and wander around with it for a bit longer.

Tips: Swatch it and wait for an hour. If it's still a good match, then go for it. It's good with a brush or a sponge for application.

could find better for the price

although this foundation wears for a long time, I personally found it to oxidise rather quickly throughout the day which I didn't like at all.

Great for fully coverage

I do like this foundation for full coverage but I find it can make my skin look quite dry and shows all the texture. It’s great for at night time but I tend to stay away from it during the day as I don’t like how I look in daylight with it. It does apply well and is easy to build up but I don’t know if I’ll continue to purchase

Tips: Buff with a brush is a great way to apply

Superstay umpa-lumpa

I tried to select my colour very carefully for the trial hoping to get as close to the colour I’m Currently using (and sadly running out of) but I was severely unsuccessful. When I opened the package I thought “oh dear that’s awfully dark..oh well..let’s give it a crack” On the pro side, a little went a LONG way. A half pump resulting in a 5mm drop would have done my entire face in a shade of brown I can only describe as umpa-lumpa burnt orange. A nice light consistency if that what youre looking for. However if you want coverage this is not the product for you. It gives a very transparent layer that I’d have to say gave my skin a peachy smooth feel. As for the superstay aspect..the product quite stubbornly stained my fingers orange so I’m confident it will stay put for quite some time.

Tips: Try for your correct shade before buying if possible. And make sure you have wipes or a good cleanser to remove.

Not my thing

This foundation comes in a 30ml glass bottle with a pump dispenser and plastic cap. It is easy to dispense and has a medium consistency.

The shade I chose was "30 Sand", which ended up being too light and too pink for me. For reference, I am NC25 in MAC and Punjab in NARS Sheer Glow.

It claims to be full coverage but I found it to be medium-full buildable with a satin finish. It did not cover my freckles with normal application, but with heavy application it looked cakey.

It claims to have 24 hour wear - I was not able to test this claim as I could not stand to have makeup on for 24 hours, but it did start to look cakey around my T-zone after about 8 hours (I have combination skin).

I personally did not like the heavy-looking finish of this foundation and would not repurchase it in the future.

Pros and cons

The consistency of this product is beautiful. It's silky smooth and thin, but provides medium coverage with just one layer. I wasn't able to get an even finish using my fingers, so used my beauty blender which worked well.

The product looked good upon application, but settled into pores after a couple of hours. I tested it with and without primer and powder and had the same result each time. It lasts all day.

I found it quite hard to remove compared to my usual foundations. I needed an oil-based cleanser to remove it.

Tips: Use a damp sponge to apply for the prettiest finish

Covered

Super stay 24hr full coverage foundation, colour true ivory. This isn't one of my favs yet unfortunately, I applied this on a daily basis with different bases as it just looked blotchy by itself . I normally put a little bit of pawpaw cream to moisturise befor applying my foundation, however with this one that just didn't sit right an it felt super oily. I had to wash my face with make up remover to try other options, the smell is actually a pleasent smell an I'll definitely keep trying to find a base that doesn't make it look uneven an blotchy. It's always good to have a back up foundation incase the one you use isn't available, like 2 of my previous ones are no longer. The consistency is pretty good it's not very runny, and I found with about 6 to 8 pumps of the product it did my whole face an neck most times. Though some of the pumps didn't go fully so sometimes you need that extra 1 or 2 pumps, if you do get two much out however it is a bit difficult to get it back in the container. So in that case there is a bit of wastage, I would possibly tell friends about this product but it's not very high on my list have list.

Didn't live up to the title nor the hype

Purchased this due to the mass hype I'd been seeing and hearing about this foundation. Maybelline foundations and their products, in general, have always been a bit of a hit and miss for me with some becoming staples in my collection and others being a waste of money. I put off purchasing this for ages as I couldn't justify paying $35 for a Maybelline foundation that I didn't really need haha. Eventually, I came across it for $20 online and figured why not. I hated this product, it sat on my skin and felt cakey and gross to the touch. It felt like I was wearing a foundation sheet mask on my skin. The colour was off, which I spent ages trying to ensure it was the correct shade. It dried on my skin and clung to dry skin and hair on my face as I have dry and sensitive skin I wasn't surprised. It rubbed off not long after application and couldn't withstand sweat or heat. Waste of money and am annoyed having fallen into the hype.
