I purchased this nail polish on impulse. I had never tried this range of nail polishes before, but it was a bargain so I had to have it! And now I want alllll of the colours!
Firstly, on application I really liked how this nail lacquer went on. The brush was small and the nail polish was thin and smooth to apply. However, I did have a apply a few coats to get my desired color, and my partner did comment how it was smellier than usual. Once it was dry it was so lovley and shiny and it stayed that was for the whole week with no chips at all! (admittedly I was at home most the week, rather than working but I was still doing 'stuff') - And to top all of this off I have just today read that it is Formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene free and I love any beauty product under $10!
All in all, I am going to be buying more of the colour range of Maybelline Colour Show polishes.
I won't lie, before i got into doing my nails, the brand on nail polish never appealed to me. I have never brought it, and honestly had no plans to buy it. It was only when i became more nail creative, that i started sourcing from different brands and this is the brand i chose for my black, and gold nail polishes.
Price wise, these are a really affordable option and for around $5 you get a lot of nail polish (or i think so anyway). Plus this brand is so easy to source, being at farmers, Kmart, and big bucket sales, so literally they are available to everyone, which is more that i can say about many other beauty products.
So the packaging of this product is pretty basic. It comes in a cylinder shaped glass bottle, which has a matching cylinder shaped lip. The top and bottom of the bottle is flat, simple design, like i said but it does the job. Actually, something i love about the design it the nail polish colour names are on the top of the lid, so when you have these arranged nicely, you can read the nail polish colour, without having to actually pull out the bottle. Might sound like a small thing, but when you have a lot of nail polishes, it comes in handy.
One thing i am not a huge fan of with the design is the brush. It is just so tiny and little. In saying that, i mostly use these colours for feature designs, so i dont need to cover the whole nail anyway.
The colors i have onyx rush and bold gold. I find the formulas really similar, with the black nail polish being slightly slightly thinner than the gold. Overall, these nail polishes are really pigmented, even though the polishes are a bit runnier than others i have tried, i find the one coat of this gives my perfect coverage, which is pretty impressive.
These nail polishes are long wearing, the don't chip easily, and i surprisingly like the thinner formula. I would use these again in a heart beat
