A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

Oily Lid Saver.

Oily lids are the bane of my existence. I have never found a magic potion that helps my eyeliner stay put for more than 3 hours. The paint pot in painterly means I get a decent 6-8 hours, depending on how warm it is, before my eyeliner transfers to the top of my lid. I know 6-8 hours doesn't sound like that long but compared to normal that is an epic amount if time. The bonus of using this is it evens out my eyelid skin tone and makes my eyeshadow colours more intense AND helps my liner stay put much longer. I have tried it with many formulas of shafow and liner and all of the wear times have increased when using it. Holy grail lid primer right here. I use it every day without fail! Worth the money for my oily lids.

Tips: I apply all over my lid with my ring finger. I find it blends well and goes on smoothly!

Make up won't budge

I had painterly it was great at first but then dried out in the pot soon after purchase I then brought Indianwood and told the girl about my previous pot she told me it just the air getting to it, and either put it upside down on the bench in between using or put a tiny piece of glad wrap over the product .( wish someone had told me first time round) Now I just screw the cap on straight away in between uses. Indianwood is a great colour for a smokey eye under eye shadows or on its own over the lid (good when in a hurry )

Tips: rub finger/brush in formula then put lid straight back on to avoid product drying out

MAC Paint Pot

I have this in Painterly and I use it ever day under eyeshadow. It's a miracle product, I have oily lids but with this there is never any end-of-day creasing or smudging. I'm definitely considering getting other colours to work with eyeshadow in different ways.

Multi Use product right here!

I was introduced to these glass jars of goodness from a BR girl. She has set yet another addiction for me! Once you buy one, you just keep adding more to your collection!

So the wee glass jars are great. Feel heavy and expensive. The top has a rubber feel which I love. It helps to open the lids when you have moisturizers or bb cream still on your hands.

The jar come full of product to the top. These days it's not very often you can say that.

I started off with the colour painterly. Then I just kept adding to my collection. These are a creamy texture. The sales assistant said to just apply with your finger. This works well when you have short fingernails. Doing it this way uses less product by far. I also like to use a brush as well.

Now due to the creamyness of these, they grab hold onto powder eyeshadow extremely well. Using the different colours also changes the shadows. I have a silver that makes a matte shadow have a sparkle. When I use a brush, I like to use the same brush into the shadow, then it makes the colour more intense as if wetting the brush. It also helps to blend it as well.

So, so far we have used it as a primer. A eyeshadow on its own and a tool to enhance shadow. Now get a angled brush and use it under your lower lash line for a eyeliner. Now dip your finger in and place a blob on the top of your cheeks and blend for shimmer!

See multi use product!

Tips: I like to buy direct from the MAC website so I can get more for my money

Great for Prolonging Eyeshadow!

I purchased the shade painterly, and being extremely pale i found that it was darker than my skin tone and make my eyelids quite orange, but that was only the first few times i used it, now i hardly notice it, but i found that you have to set it somehow, with a face powder or an eyeshadow and the tacky-ness doesn't allow for easy blending, but once you've set it it AMAZING! my eyeshadow lasts all day! sometimes when I've been extremely lazy and didn't take my makeup off the night before (NAUGHTY) its still perfect! my only thing against this was the shades, i found soft ochre was too yellow for me and i have yellow undertones, but painterly was too dark, if anyone knows of another shade thats just a skin tone base suitable for my irish girl skin let me know!

Tips: set with an eyeshadow or powder for easy blending

MAC eyeshadow

I love MAC and have a lot of their products, having a MAC makeover is one of my favourite treats and I browse their counters intensely. The paint pots are lovely and yes very creamy but there is definitely a technique in getting it to set properly so it doesn't create crease lines. That said, once it is on and set properly it lasts a long time. A great range of colours. The pots are easy to use but do apply with the proper brush to get the desired effect.

Tips: I often use mine as a lower lash liner or in the corners to add a wee bit of sparkle or colour.

MAC Paint Pot - Groundworks

A MAC sales associate recommended paint pots when I asked about eye shadow primers. I have oily and medium hooded eyes so I snapped it up though it is a little pricey. I have since moved onto less pricey and better primers but still use Groundworks as a cream eye shadow as the color payoff is good. As a primer - it is very much a 'goldilocks' product for me. Too little or too much and it creased within four hours. Just the right amount and it might last 6 but only in cool weather. As other reviewers have pointed out, the packaging is good, a nice little glass pot with a sturdy rubberized screw-off lid. There is plenty in there and I don't see me finishing it any time soon. I find that it works best applied with my fingers since it warms up a little and makes it easier to blend in on the lid.

Cult Product for a Reason!

I have Painterly and it is such a great nude. I use it as a base and on its own on my eyelids.

On its own, it is great for covering up any "colour" on your lids. My lids have some visible veins or something, so this just evens it out nicely.

As a base, I would say it gives eyeshadow an longevity that you see from many high end primers such as Too Faced or NARS. As it's removed all "colour" from my lids, I find any shadow applied over it is more true to the colour in the pan.

I would liken Painterly to being a gateway paint pot - once you've tried this one, you'll want more. I'm currently eyeing up Bare Study, Stormy Pink & Groundwork.

How did I survive so long without this in my stash!

Tips: Screw the lids on TIGHT. These babies dry up and you don't want all that money to go to waste!

Sticks like.... To a blanket

I absolutely will not bother wearing eye make up if I don't have my soft ochre prolongwear paint pot down first. This stuff is the ONLY product that stops eyeshadow creasing on my oil slick eyelids. It also makes wearing chunky glitters entirely more bearable as it acts a small layer of comfort as well. This absolutely covers and discolouration on your eyeballs and lays the best foundation for whatever sensational eye look you've got planned. Soft ochre is a great colour for fair/light skin tones I prefer it to painterly personally.

Tips: A little goes a long a way!

Holy grail

this is the best primer I have ever used. My only downfall to this product is that it is not cruelty free. I love how it applies to the eyelid so creamy and smooth. It helps the eyeshadow adhere better to the skin and provide a strong vibrancy to the eyelid from the pigment of the eyeshadow. Best product ever but am looking for a cruelty free version of this product. If anyone has any recommendations feel free to comment. Also great for clients. I have painterly but want to try a colour similar to soft ochre. Definite staple in my makeup kit until I find something better than what I have already.
