Affordable POP!

I have never actually bought any colorpop but I have definitely fallen in love with the Matte Lipstick. I was given three gorgeous shades, Dr M which is a moss green colour, and Zipper which is a dark fuchsia and Privacy Please which is an electric lavender colour according to my eyes. I am all for bold in your face colours and these babies really deliver that in you face feeling.

Upon checking the price of them, they are one of the most affordable liquid mattes on the market which makes it so much better for someone like me who is on a budget. The packaging is simple but I like how you can see the colour you are buying through the clear tube. It has a silver lid which gives it a sense of bling. The applicator wand I have to admit is not my fave. It is a spongey feeling end which gathers too much product. It can be hard to get my lip lines straight without having to fix it with a makeup wipe, therefore, wiping off a bit of foundation in the process.

The formula can be quite thick and sticky but once I mastered the application process of less is more I got the hang of it. Once dry oh what a sight to behold! The colour is bold, it's true to the swatches and looks great on. I have worn it out on the town and out shopping. The stay power is actually really amazing. It has a small amount of wear as you would expect when eating and drinking but for the most part it is intact. The only thing that annoys me is when it flakes after wearing for more than 4 hours. The lipstick dries more and flakes off. Also it is quite drying on the lips so I make sure I use lipbalm underneath to prevent that and the flaking too.

In summary for the price and the awesome colour selection I would say this is top five of my fave liquid mattes. It definitely competes with the high end brands that I love which is surprising. It has all I want. Stay power check, boldness check, matte formula check, affordable check. I can't really go wrong here. Seriously give them a go!

Tips: Use a lipbalm either underneath or over top to help keep lips moisturised

really good! totally addicted

so, i got on this matte lipstick train at a late time (after the crazy has kinda passed). but i have no regrets, it gave me the opportunity to get my head around the product and save and get heaps all at once hahaha. so i got quite a few...about 15 to be exact. mostly nudes and pinks.

now these mattes are interesting. they look great in the tube. they look ok on your arm swatch. then it looks completely different when you apply to your lips. so that's a bit annoying lol. the pigment in my lips darkens the colour and i'm not too keen in the bold dark lip anymore. also...they are VERY drying on me. i constantly have peeling flaking lips.

Tips: * put a lip balm or primer on before applying these * pale out your lips with foundation or a concealer * do a gentle lip scrub when you take it off at the end of the day

Not So Matte

I recently purchsed 2 of the ultra matte liquid lips from colourpop, in the shades "embellish" and 'are n be'.

My experience's with them both are so similar but so very different.

Embellish went on beautifully, the formula is quite thin and creamy. I think this may be the reason as to why it bleeds once on the lip. You definetley have to line the lip to prevent it from happening. While it does dry it doesn't completley dry, therefore not making it an Ultra Matte, or even a Matte. It stays really tacky on the lip and the transfer is quite significant making it not last as long as i had hoped for an 'Ultra Matte'.

Are N Be has the same formula quite thin and bleeds once on the lip also, so lining is a must! The formula is so silky smooth on the lip its beautiful, this one completley dries and i see where the name 'ultra matte' comes from when wearing this shade. it doesn't dry out so much that it makes the lips chapped and uncomfortable. It stays silky soft once dried. It doesn't last long on the lip, i did find i had to re apply after eating or drinking.

A mixed review from these shades, i'm still uncertain as to weather i'd purchase any more. I do know though they will not be my first choice when picking a Matte lip.

Tips: LIne your lips ladies and gents, these puppys bleed on the lip!

Colour Me Beautiful!

I own about 6 ColourPop Ultra Matte Lipsticks.

My first impression was how cute the box is. I love the holographic logo on the box and it is so small and cute! The lipstick itself has very sleek packaging. It is perfect size to fit in my teeny handbag. The ColourPop logo is shiny and stands out. I love how the tube is crystal clear so you can see the exact colour of the lipstick.

Now onto the lippy!

The formula is quite watery but this makes it easy to apply and spread evenly. You need a steady hand for getting those lines crisp as with all liquid lipsticks any mistakes can be quite unforgiving. My collection so far ranges from hot pinks and purples to a deep red. They are all beautiful and every time I wear one (especially the shade "Koala") I always get glowing compliments which - of course! - encourages me to keep wearing them.

they are very long lasting and stick well through eating and drinking - although with a hot drink it can wash away where the hot liquid touches your lips. But overall very impressive staying power. I wear it all day at work and I only need to touch up once after lunch which is great! I work long hours so worrying about shoddy lippy is not part of my day anymore!

The colours are fantastic and the smell isn't too bad. I love how bright the lipsticks are and I am definately a fan!

For only $6 USD per lippy it is fantastic value!

Tips: Exfoliate your lips and apply a thin layer of lip balm to really prime your lips and show off that gorgeous shade!

Hey I was wondering if you bothered lining your lips before applying the lippy? And my lips are sometimes more on the dry sude, how did you find the dryness of them? :)

Too matte for me!

I purchased 2 of these recently when Colorpop decided to do free shipping to NZ. I jumped in on an order to help a friend get the free, and from memory they arrived pretty quickly.

I bought the shades Privacy Please and Zipper. Both are purpley colors. Privacy Please is almost like the color of the lip rating on BR, and Zipper is a darker purple. They're both gorgeous but unfortunately I have issues with them!

They're super matte, I find that Zipper dries down really fast and makes my lips feel weird and tight - and I really hate that feeling. Privacy Please is slightly better, it doesn't dry as tight or feel as annoying on the lips. I haven't been able to wear Zipper all day, let alone for 5 minutes, but Privacy Please lasts all of the day.

I found both of them super hard to remove, so depending on how you look at it, they last a long time! I'd recommend them for that reason but otherwise I'm not overly fond of them, and I wouldn't buy them again.

Matte about you?

When colourpop brought out these I was so excited to find out what these were like. All over instagram I had seen colour swatches . Theres a huge array of colours. What I enjoy about colourpop is that it's priced affordably. Colourpop is a fun modern brand. It's been used by lots of you tubers that Im following at the moment. Before I decided on what colour I wanted I looked up many swatches. Its hard to identify what colour would look right on my skin tone. I joined an international group so I could buy products from overseas easily with others.

Colourpops liquid lipsticks come in large sized tubes clear so you can see colour. This holographic lettering down the side gives it that extra edge . The applicator doe foot is soft and smooth. Your typical shaped wand. The colour I picked is Kapow. Kapow is a greige brown. In its tube it appears to look like a nude but when swatched it turns into a deep brown with an undertone of grey. This consistency is liquid in bottle. Dries within a minute. Theres no scent at all with this one.

When I apply this it glides on my lips so perfectly. No need to keep applying as this colour is truely pigmented. Yay! Beware you do need to prepare your lips with scrub as it does show dry spots . Its not forgiving of dry lips.

This liquid lipstick lasted me four hours solid with eating and drinking. I love how generously sized these tubes are. Bigger than my Lime crime and La Splash. Would I buy it again. Most definately. Colourpop has definately made a formula to rival other brands.

Gorgeous and Affordable

These are handsome down my favorite matte lippy's! Everything about these are great; the colour range, texture, staying power and price. It's awesome to see such a beautiful makeup range on the market that is so affordable. I have at least 20 of these with my favorite colour being Tulle followed by Stingraye, Prim and More Better.

Tips: Although this is an extremely affordable range the international shipping can be costly. To minimise this cost I try and do group orders with friends or other fellow makeup lovers x

Inconsistent formulas

These matte liquid lipsticks have a reasonable price point and with free international shipping until the end of the year (for purchases over USD50.00) it’s hard not to add a few to the cart. Going forward however I will be sticking to the lippie stix because the formulas for the matte liquid lipsticks are inconsistent. Some are smooth, lightweight and velvety while others are drying, tacky and feel uncomfortable on the lips.

Lumiere 2 is supposed to be the liquid lipstick version of the lippie stix Lumiere (a pink mauve) however on me it comes out two shades lighter and appears more cool tone so that it washes me out.

The wand applicator is more of a rounded doe foot without precision so much so that I find that I always have to clean up the edges of my lips. The dry down of Lumiere 2 is a tad patchy because it dries down lighter in some areas and darker in others to the point that I can see a bit of my skin coming through. It's not overly noticeable but as it begins to fade it becomes obvious.

It felt comfortable to wear but begins fading within 3 hours and the product (same with Viper) begins to break away quite badly in the inside of your mouth leaving you with a ghastly-looking rim. I retouch it by applying another layer and I make sure to wipe off the excess as I don’t want any build-up of product. I found that this particular shade becomes rather tacky (like drying glue) to the point that it’s too uncomfortable to wear because it feels like you’re walking around with something stuck on your lips.

Viper is a gorgeous berry mauve. The colour on the skin looks so much better than what you see in the tube and it's a shade I feel anyone can rock. Viper feels so lightweight that I can wear this comfortably for most of the day with probably two touch ups. Unlike Lumiere 2, this shade doesn’t emphasise the lines as much.

Out of the shades I own, I would definitely go for the berry shades as they just seem to perform better and feel good on the lips. I have no intention of repurchasing these again.

I'm kind of on the fence about this liquid lipstick. If I lived in America and had free shipping for this product, I'd think this is worth it, but alas I do not. Hence why I'm a bit iffy.

When I think of this product, I think: dry. After applying this product - I don't know whether it's the formula or the doe foot applicator itself but - it feels super dry. Like my lips become some kind of rough canvas (mind you I have quite smooth, soft lips) so this was off-putting. Once the formula settles it feels as if I literally just applied paint on my mouth.

The lasting power is typical of a liquid lipstick, and of course fades mostly on the inner lip area, deteriorating rapidly when it comes in contact with oil. I would have rated the product higher if it weren't for the ultra-drying, moisture-sucking effect on my lips. On the plus side, Colourpop do have a wonderful range of shades which caters to all different skintones and the pigmentation is amazing, bringing me back to me being on the fence about this range.

All in all, do I think it's worth the shipping? No. I feel that you could acquire of equal quality or even better liquid lipstick products here in NZ. Do I think it's worth it if I were residing in America? Most definitely, but unfortunately I'm not. If you're not fussed about shipping prices + want a wide range of colours + don't mind having super dry lips, I do recommend. If otherwise, I discourage you.

Tips: Definitely make sure to exfoliate as any dry/chapped areas will be obvious.

Love colorpop lipstick

Goes on matte as the label suggests. I have a nude colour that I can wear everyday easily or for the finishing touches to going out makeup. I have applied a gloss on top to give a little change up from the matte finish and worked well. Versatile and user friendly. Have had loads of friends asking what I'm wearing.

Tips: Apply a clear gloss if your feeling adventurous and would like to change things up once in a while
