I loved the packaging awesome bright colours and the metallic really stands out, I liked the product made my hair soft and shiny but alas did absolutely nothing for the frizz. I have a real awkward hair super curly thick and frizzy, pre straightening and after it's thin and fluffy so not everything will work but this product only did half the job

I have very curly, dry, frizz prone hair that I have dyed a dark brown every couple of months and have been using this a couple of times a week for a few weeks now. I was hoping it would restore some moisture back into my hair but it didn't impress me as much as I hoped it would. Although my hair is naturally very dry I was hoping the "intense treatment" would deeply condition my locks, I've tried various ways of using the product - leaving it on longer, using on it's own in between shampoos and every time I used it I felt my hair was more tangled than with other products and I had trouble trying to comb this product through (this is my process with all conditioners/treatments). I did enjoy the bottle as the product was easier to get at than other treatments in the tubs and I also liked the consistency as it was more along the lines of a conditioner and so easier to spread through my hair. I've tried other products in the ELVIVE range and have always come away a little disappointed. For the price there are other supermarket brand treatments that work better on my hair type.
Tips: Use a generous amount especially if your hair is longer than shoulder length.
Well this product made me really excited the first time I used it. My hair felt really smooth and silky and that was following the instructions and rinsing straight after applying.
The second and third time however, did not make me excited. My hair did not feel smooth and silky at all. I tried leaving it in for 5 minutes the third time but still nothing.
It does smell really pleasant and the smell is nice but other than that I feel it just didn't do what the packaging said it could.
The packaging is a large tube with a flip lid. The cream inside smells nice and isn't too strong. You apply it after normal shampooing and it goes on well. It goes straight to work while smoothing it in it breaks down and works in to every part of my hair well. I liked the results. My was left feeling really smooth and healthy and looked really nice. My head did get a little itchy after using this product and I had to stop using it and the other Elvive shampoo I was using. Other than that I was really impressed.
Tips: Don't use too much. You don't need as much as you think you do.
I have dry damaged bleached blonde hair so I thought this would be great for my poor hair - I was selected to be a part of the BR trial for this so was really looking forward to trying it. I have mixed feelings about this product as I have tried better.
I have used it almost everyday for about two weeks now and haven’t noticed much or any of a difference to my hair. I used it after my shampoo and conditioner. I found that it had a gorgeous scent much like the new Schwarzkopf range - it smelt expensive and nice.
The formula of the product was thicker than a conditioner but didn’t have the same texture as my other treatments I have used. I found that I needed to take most of the water out of my hair while still in the shower to make it work the best way as if I put it in my totally drenched hair it seemed to just come straight out. The texture in my hair was odd… I suppose I am use to more silicone based treatments as this one made my hair feel crunchy (weird huh).
I left it in for 60seconds the first few times I tried it then about 3-5minutes there after as I found this is the way it worked a bit better for me.
I don’t straighten my hair everyday and when I do straighten it I always use a treatment before I do and when I next wash it. So when I went to blow dry my hair after using this treatment I noticed my hair felt thicker and heavier it wasn’t as fluffy and soft as normal.. I learnt my mistake of putting it at my roots pretty quickly - even though that’s what it states on the bottle.
Overall the price is nice, the packaging is awesome love the detail on the packaging it doesn’t look cheap! I also love how it’s in a squeeze tube so you’re not wasting product. However I do wish it claimed to do all the things it suggests on the bottle. I will continue to use it and see how it improves if it does otherwise I will go back to by Wella SP Luxe Hair Mask.
L’Oreal have really stepped up their game with their products so I hope this hair mask continues to get better with use!
Tips: Make sure there isn't heaps of water in your hair. You still want it damp not drenched as it works better!
I have naturally straight hair. Its dry, damaged at the end and oily at the root. I need to wash my hair every other day otherwise my hair will be greasy.
Look at the word "instant repair" I was so excited to buy it. I have tried it as a conditioner, treatment after conditioner, hair mask (leave it on and wrap the hair for 30mins). My hair is less fizzy and softer, smoother after using but not significant and i dont find its "instant repair". Like the effect only last after wash then its back to normal, nothing has been repaired. And my hair is more greasy than normal.
Happily i'm so lucky that i get chosen to try the Fibralogy (thanks to the BR team) that have solve all of the problems of my hair. Highly recommend that one for anyone who has hair type like me.
This has all the things a good enough conditioner should, it smells lovely and it conditions your hair reasonably well. I expected from it's name that it would be a more intensive conditioner, but my hair really felt the same as when using a normal cheap conditioner. I think it makes a good conditioner but it's not great for an intensive treatment.
I am a big fan of most L'Oréal Paris products but sadly, not this one. I was excited at the prospect of a hair treatment that can repair my hair and make it soft in just 60 seconds! It sounded too good to be true, and disappointingly for me, it was.
I have curly hair which tends to get dry, but is also fine so can run the risk of being bogged down by heavy products. For me, Elvive Total Repair 5 Instant Miracle was just too heavy. I tried to use it a few times, even once washing it out of my hair as soon as I put it it. Each time I have used this treatment it's made my hair thick, heavy, and greasy.
I won't use this product again as it just didn't work for me but I can imagine it would be perfect for someone with thicker, drier hair than me.
I have such mixed feelings about this product and I felt that I had to give it a completely fair review. While I would not say that this product is useless at all, I don't think it is a "miracle" and that you have to go out and buy it immediately. I would probably prefer a range of other supermarket conditioners.
I have very damaged hair, so any sign of improvement would be noticed. I gave this product a good go but it just doesn't seem to do much for my hair. I followed the instructions which claim that it work instantly and you can wash it out almost immediately. But it literally did nothing, my hair didn't feel any softer or less damaged. So the next time I used it, I left it in for a bit, as I would normally with a conditioner. This time my hair felt a little smoother. But as I said, you can probably get better results from other supermarket conditioners for around the same price.
I suppose if you're looking for something that is supposed to be a miracle, conditioner for under ten dollars is too good to be true.
Tips: Try the dove conditioner in the gold tube.
This smells the same as the Total repair 5 shampoo and conditioner and is basically just like the conditioner a little goes a fair way and you can opt to leave it in if you like but be careful as too much Keratin can make the hair crunchy and not soft. I would rather leave it in longer than 60seconds and you can use sparingly or as a rinse off mask I feel you can do the same with the conditioner if you wanted to but this costs about the same price but you get 200ml not 250 and it is thicker. How ever I do wonder if it really works to repair it or if it is just improving the look of your hair and the feel.
Tips: Try the shampoo and conditioner
