My hair is long (down to the middle of my back), very thick, blonde, and quite dry. I have half head highlights.
This product comes in a handy tube that is easily squeezed out.
It is quite a thin, runny formula unlike other treatments I have tried which are very thick. It has a pleasant, not overpowering smell.
Out of the tube, I got 2 treatments out of it, and I tried it two different ways.
The first time I tried it, I did what I usually do with treatments which is shampoo my hair, towel dry it, apply the treatment, comb it through, and leave it in for 15-20mins.
Doing it this way I found it impossible to comb through, and quite hard to apply.
The second time, I applied it as per the directions (shampoo, rinse, apply treatment, rinse straight away) It says that the treatment works straight away.
I found this way much better as it goes into wet hair much easier.
After rinsing the treatment out (both times), my hair felt quite dry and hard to manage, and had lots of knots.
I then towel dried my hair, used my tangle teezer to get the knots out, and blow dried it.
This treatment promises 5 proven results.
The first is restored. It definitely felt softer, however I do not believe you can restore hair, only cover up the damage, which I think it does a reasonably good job at doing.
The second is stronger. This is quite hard to measure, and I think you may have to use it quite a few times to really see a difference, however I did see a little bit of a difference.
The third is vitality. I think it does make the hair more vitalized.
The fourth is silky to touch. This product definitely made my hair nice and silky. Feels divine after straightening it too.
And the fifth is Healthy Shine. My hair definitely looked more shiny.
So my overall thoughts on this product is that I am quite happy with it, however it does not do an as good of a job as my professional salon treatments, and the downside is that it contains silicone. Silicone just coats the hair and makes it appear healthier rather than working inside the hair shaft, and silicone can weigh the hair down after a while.
If this was on special at the supermarket, I may pick some up, but for now I will probably just stick with my salon products.
At first I was rather sceptical as I usually use expensive treatments from the salon, however after finding success with others in the elvive range I decided to give this a go. Firstly it comes in a nice metallic pink bottle which is rather handy and easily distinguishable in the shower and the bottle is easily squeezable so you’re able to get the right amount of product out. The product itself smells rather nice with a lightly scented floral fragrance which is rather refreshing. I used this a couple of times in conjunction with the elvive smooth intense shampoo and conditioner and found that it worked best if you shampooed, then put this treatment in and combed and leaved in for 10 minutes, rinsed and then conditioned with the conditioner as it seemed to lock in the moisture better (A trick I learnt to do with all shampoo, treatment and conditioners from a hairdresser). While I did notice some results it wasn’t drastic. My hair is bleached blonde so can be rather damaged and I did this just after I had got it re-dyed when it felt rather straw-like. I noticed my hair did feel smoother and thicker and was much more manageable. I thought it may make my hair look greasy or oily however I was pleasantly surprised as it was nice and lightweight. I tried to avoid my scalp and focused more on the mids to ends and that seemed to work best with this produts For the price I would say this is a good product and does have some good aspects about it so will definitely use again.
Tips: Shampoo, then put the treatment in and comb through and leave for ten minutes. Rinse and then condition hair to lock in the moisture. I found Loreal Elvive Smooth intense worked best with this
