I have never used an eyeshadow primer before, so I didn't know what to expect. I was gifted Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Original.
I love the packaging. The Primer Potion comes in an eye catching, metalic lavender tube with an exotic shaped silver lid. The lid is easy to unscrew and then there is a long beak applicator with a pin head size opening. You do not need to squeeze the tube very hard and only a tiny amount of primer is required per eye.
I do no apply with a brush. I apply primer to my finger and it glides across my eyelid. Make sure you have clean hands. You can see where you have applied the primer and it drys very fast. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion is light beige in colour and very thick but soft and creamy.
You can feel feel the difference once primer is on your eyelid. It's not heavy but you are aware there is a coating. And once primer is applied, your eyelids feel very smooth. Eyeshadow glides on like magic.
For me, the difference of wearing a primer and not wearing a primer is my makeup sits in place all day. My eyeshadow has not bled, faded or entirely disappeared. There is nothing more I would require from a primer.
I first tried this primer over a year ago. A friend sent me what was left of hers and there were a few applications left in the tube. I enjoyed using it but then started using an elf primer once it had finished and I thought that was a really good dupe. Anyway, this summer has been so hot and the elf just wasn't cutting it anymore. My lids seemed to be getting really oily in the heat and my eyeshadow that I was so carefully applying in the morning was creasing on me by lunchtime.
I bought a smoked palette and this tube came with it. I will never, again use another type of eye primer. Even on the hottest days, my eyeshadow stays put!
I have the original shade, it's a skin coloured formula that sort of dries invisible-well I can't see it on my lids and I'm reasonably pale. You only need the tiniest amount for both lids so even though it is kind of expensive, it will last a long time. The tube is really easy to squeeze product out and the opening is really small so as long as you don't squeeze super hard, you will get the right amount. The packaging is pretty cool too with a nice purple tube and cute silver lid. I put some on and then let it dry a bit while I do my brows, so maybe 3 minutes or so. I don't notice if eyeshadows are more vibrant with this then compared to other primers but it so lasts the distance. I get no creasing until I wash it off at night.
This is quite a hyped up product but believe me, it does live up to that hype.I'm more of a drugstore/dupe person so if another primer was working for me and was cheaper than I would use that instead, which is why I was using the elf up till now.
