OK brush

Unfortunately for me the bristles did fall out when using this brush but felt really soft and gave a decent application.

It's so stumpy!

Again, another E.L.F product I purchased from iHerb, as I had seen everyone and their mothers raving about how good kabuki brushes were. This arrived and I rubbed it on my bare face (the ultimate test) and it passed.

I used it mostly for setting powder, but I really didn't get why it had to be so stumpy - it didn't sit anywhere on my makeup station nicely. I did like the black and white on the brush, and it was easy to clean.

Thankfully I didn't notice it shedding, but I know these brushes are good at it! My stippling brush from the same line started to shed after a month or so of use (only used it 4 times during the month). I would consider repurchasing this, but only if it had a long handle, rather than the short stumpy thang it has now.

Kabuki Brush

I absolutely love Kabuki brushes as I am a mineral foundation fan so these kind of go hand in hand for me 

I had to give this one a try as I do enjoy a number of ELF products and this brush looked really nice and soft.

Appearance wise this looks similar to other kabuki brushes a short black base and white and black bristles. The brush bristles felt incredibly soft on the back of my hand and I couldn’t wait to try out with my mineral foundation.

I went about my usual mineral application, tap some into the lid swirl the kabuki brush in the lid and apply in a circle motion on the face.

The brush seemed to pick up a good amount of product but for some reason I didn’t feel like I had great control with buffing into the skin with this brush. The trick to the finish of mineral foundation comes down to buffing into the skin and I didn’t feel like this brush provided that for me.

I decided to try it for other products instead like my highlighters/bronzers. This did a much better job for me with these products as you don’t need a lot of product and just a sweep across the skin. This brush did a great job on that side of things.

I didn’t notice any bristle fallout so this was a bonus.

Its had a few cleans (just with warm soapy water) and its still in good condition.

All in all for a price like this I really don’t think you can go to wrong – but I wouldn’t recommend it if your purpose was to use for mineral foundation.

Fluffy Friend

I picked up this little Beauty at Kmart . I needed an all over face brush for my face powder. I thought I would give this baby a try. Elf products can also be purchased from Iherb . Sometimes at a much cheaper rate.

Brush comes packaged nicely . The brush itself has a firm but compact handle rounded in shape . It’s made of reasonably study plastic. Bristles feel soft to touch .

After applying my liquid foundation I like to go all over my face with this brush with my pressed powder. It evenly distributed product across my face well.

I’ve been using this brush for the last six months with erase. Price point for it is fair . It’s cheap enough to buy . I would reccomend it to anyone who’s starting out with make up.

Potential

On the hunt for a new Kabuki brush since it seems my usual supplier has disappeared.

This is SUPER soft and the packaging says it's made from Taklon (YAY!). It's $14 from Kmart so not a bad purchase if the product didn't meet my expectations.

I like a full coverage and use kabuki brushes because that is what they help to provide so I expect it takes a while for the brush to start performing to its best once I've washed it from new.

It has shed a little and so far has been providing light coverage and I've had to use my other kabuki to go over to buff my foundation to the coverage I like.

The ferule (handle) is shorter than I'm used to so if you suffer from arthritis in the hands, you'll probably want something with a longer handle.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to tell just how good it is until I've used it for a couple of months but so far I'm quite happy with it, I just wanted to put something up for people looking at purchasing this so they don't have any unrealistic expectations that it will perform straight out of the packet and I can come back in a couple of months to recap.

Edit - 30 April 2014 I've used this for just over a month now and I've decided that it just isn't doing it for me. Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful brush and beautifully soft but the bristles are too loose and to get any sort of decent coverage from my mineral foundation, they need to be more tightly packed.

I would suggest this is probably better for bronzers, illuminators or for those that are blessed with only needing light coverage mineral foundation rather than full.

In love with ELF!

I really love this brush. Really Really. To be honest I purchased it because I needed a new one and it was really reasonably priced $14 at Kmart! Upon getting it home it is ridiculously soft and nice to use. My flatmates have also gone out and got their own - especially after I got fairly protective due to makeup theives in the house!

I love that ELF products are PETA approved and animal friendly.

Tips: Short brush can be a little fumbly if you aren't used to it or have short fingers like me!

Fabulous

Where to start with this handy brush... It is incredibly soft, it is a multi-tasker, and it lasts. But the best bit - it blends flawlessly! The fibres are synthetic, hence the softness. This makes it ideal for any kind of product, be it liquid, cream or powder.

My skin has a buffed and polished look to it afterwards...not a pore in sight. It took me a minute to realize it wasn't my skin looking that good but the gosh-darn-brush.

e.l.f Kabuki Face Brush review

The price of this brush is just standout cheap, i picked this one up from the local Kmart, it was the last one left on the rack!

I have never owned a kabuki brush before and the most stand out thing about this brush was how unbelievably soft it was, i swear i sat there and swished it all over my face and hands for a good five minutes before wanting to use it!

As i have always just had a bronzer brush, that didnt really spread out powder as well i wanted it to I was pleasantly surprised with the even distribution of the powder on my face. Loose and pressed powder was spread evenly around my face, however the loose powder ended up all over me and on the floor. (too much product and swishing! rule number one tap the kabuki first lol) Only downside is that the handle was a bit teeny, i felt like i was clawing at the brush and ended up with my nails in the brush.

Definitely recommend for the girl wanting a great tool for half the price!
