Won't be purchasing

Like a lot of the other reviews for this I also received this delightful bonus sample in the March BRBB I was so excited to give it a go because the previous one I had been using was not doing it for me.

So I squeeze a little bit out and inspect it (as you do) the consistency is like PVA glue sorry no other way to describe it really. It's a cream colour with a bit of a sheen to it. I applied and waited and waited for it to dry. This took a wee while for some reason and normally anything will stick or absorb into my skin but not this. Once dried I applied my foundation but for some reason my foundation was a streaky horrid mess I have tried this several times still with no luck. I'm unsure if it's my skin type (dry) or what I have made sure to only use a teeny tiny amount but nothing. It won't be something I will look into purchasing because I can't get it to sit right on my skin. As for the glow I didn't really have much of a glow when I looked at the non streaky parts of my foundation.

I does enhance your glow

I've finally gotten around to using this after receiving it in a BRBB last year!

What a great little product - I have combo skin with an oily T zone and have really been wanting to try a more dewy finish to my foundation without looking too oily.

This pretty much ticks all my boxes. It's oil free, so doesn't contribute to any excess oil on my skin while giving my skin a soft glow and making it look that little bit younger.

I've been mixing it up with a mattifying primer on my oily areas (or nothing at all, whatever works for you) and it really does soften my whole look. Especially if I don't bother setting my foundation with a primer.

It's encased in a lovely little silver tube with a screw cap and you just squeeze out the desire amount - I don't even use a pea sized amount each time.

The price does put me off repurchasing but I think I just may bite the bullet as I'm impressed with the finish this product gives me.

Tips: If you're rather oily, it might pay to still set the oilier areas of your skin with a powder and leave the rest to just glow.

Great combo for combination skin

The March Beauty Box introduced me to this wee primer, which came in a deluxe sample size as a bonus with this box.

So firstly, my skin is combination/dry which tends to get an oily t-zone, and drier patches on my cheeks (especially on the colder months).

This primer is not silicone based at all, which i love because i find the silicon based primers tend to highlight my dry patches-not ideal, especially in winter. This primer seems to feel more like a moisturizer so that's good, and is a thick consistency, like a moisturizer.

This primer surprisingly provides quite a good base for foundation and other makeup products, but i wouldn't say it gives my skin an incredible glow. However, it does give my skin a dewy finish which i love, and is a look i go for, but since most my foundations give me this finish anyway, it defeats the point of using this primer for the glowing purpose.

Surprisingly, although the sample was quite small (maybe 5ml or 10ml) the product actually lasted a long time. So although $65.00 may seem a lot from a primer, i would say it would last a decent time which would almost make it worthwhile.

If you have combination/dry skin like mine this primer is good. Mostly because it doesn't make oily t zones extra oily, is anything it evens the out, and its doesn't highlight dry patches. Perfect. As for the glow, its more of a dewy finish, which is great if you don't already get this from your foundation, but because i do, this aspect of the primer did not impress me.

Overall, i wouldn't repurchase this primer, because the things i like about it i can find in other primers without the price tag.

On the Fence

I received a good sized sample in the March Beauty Box, and I have to say it wasn't a product I would have bought for myself. I see the words Glow Enhancing and I think J Lo, and how I have such dull, lack-luster skin, so I was hyped to try this out for myself and was even prepared to spend the hefty price tag if I fell in love with it.

So bare faced I sit and apply after my moisturiser (on several occasions), I see a shimmery effect, subtle but there. I like it it looks healthy and natural. The white liquid/cream smooths on, nicely and doesn't crumble off or make my skin itch (only one primer has done this but I still think it needs mentioning), and It isn't greasy or beady feeling. It only has a very light floral scent.

So after wearing this under my make up (8 applications over two weeks, and still heaps of product left in the petite silver tube) I find my makeup settles into my lines on my face, and the glow seems to be only visible if you are wearing a BB cream or sheer coverage not mid to full.

I found that my skin didn't react badly to using this, i.e breakout but then again I didn't see anything beneficial in using it either. My make up didn't last any longer or look any different to applying it directly onto my skin, if anything I found my makeup creasing more around my mouth and eyes.

I would apply it after foundation to see more glow if I knew it wouldn't rub my foundation off. I like how lightweight it is as well but I don't see me buying it in the future.

If you want to glow this is what you need

Because it makes you light up like a Christmas tree full of glittering lights, and personally not in a good way.

This little tube of Shiseido Glow Enhancing Primer was a beautiful treat inside the recent BRBB and I was overjoyed as I am a huge fan of Shiseido products. Upon opening and squeezing a small amount out of the tube it became apparent that the liquid has a sort of sheen effect not quite glitter but a reflective quality to it. When applied to my skin it left a slight tackiness that remained even after waiting 10 minutes for it to settle which in turn caused my foundation to become streaky when applied. Also the glow effect made my skin turn brilliant white with a really high flash back of light when looking in the mirror, far too much glow for me.

I feel that on the right skin tone and type that this would be a brilliant addition to brighten and give a healthy glow, just didn't do anything to me

Glow

This comes in a nice silver tube with a twist top black lid. The primer itself is a white silver colour and nearly looks like it would feel gritty but it’s smooth it has a sheen to it looks so nice. It’s spf 15 as well. So face all prepped and ready to go on with a pea sized amount I just gently smear it around and I’m happy as it does do a tiny blend the blemishes in before I’ve even put on foundation or powder. I do get a little bit of skin illuminating with this as I feel my skin is dull so getting a bit of glow on or a little bit of dewy is good. I like the effect I get from using this and most times I just use a powder foundation over top instead of have quite a dull finish I’m a little brighter (my skin) I found my foundation sits very nice over this. It doesn’t hinder anything when I’m removing makeup off everything comes. I do like the finish it gives me so it get the tick of approval from me.

Tips: Just lightly apply no need to work it in

Similar to a Strobe Cream.

Like many of the other reviews, I received this as a sample in my BRBB. Being a fan of Shiseido, I was stoked to get this to try as I love anything that helps my dry skin look more luminous.

The packaging for this is really stunning. It comes in a matte silver tube with a black twist off too. The tube itself is super easy to squeeze out product.

The cream comes out white but applies translucent. This adds a beautiful soft luminosity to the skin and doesn't have any glitter in it, it just gives the skin a slight glow. On my dry skin this doesn't feel heavy or greasy and is comfortable to wear throughout the day.

This definitely adds a subtle glow to my skin when I wear it under foundation or BB Cream. The finish is similar to MACs Strobe Cream in my opinion, and I really love this for my dry skin.

If you're looking for a little glow then I recommend you try this or MACs Strobe Cream. His is slightly more subtle than Strobe Cream but it is a beautiful product and the only thing that would make me hesitate purchasing it is the price. It is quite expensive although a little goes a long way.

Shiseido Glow Enhancing Primer

I recieved this 10ml sample size in my Beauty Box and was hightly delighted for 2 reasons. 1 I had never uses a primer 2 I love Shiseido products

I was not disappointed . The container is a nice little silver tube with black writing and in a red box with lots of french writing (english too) The scent is very very subtile but pleasant. I have dry skin and I found it gave a nice dewey sheen which I really love and cerainly made my base coat spread much smoother than usual. Yes at $65 it is expensive but a little goes a long way and it alsosave on your top base coat. My skin felt really nice and i loved the effect. Thank you for ading this to the Beauty Box as was well worth trying and is a product I will buy in the future.

Tips: strawberry net . com has this for $54

Glow enhancing primer

I received a trial size of this in the BRBB. It comes in a nice little silver tube very handy if your traveling. I have to say I am disappointed in this it doesn't really do anything for me as far as a primer goes and I will be sticking to my old hard working primer. Maybe suitable for younger skin than mine. I would not purchase another one

Middle of the road, at best.

I have always had an appreciation (but not necessarily the budget) for Shiseido as a brand and when the Beauty Review March Beauty Box contained a deluxe sample of this primer I was stoked. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed.

The primer, dual named Glow Enhancing Primer/ Base Eclat Intensif comes in a gorgeous little silver tube with a black cap. Like all Shiseido Products it's quite elegant and simple in its packaging.

The primer itself is a white cream with a vaguely pearlescent glow in the right light. It is odourless and the colour disappears on the skin.

I applied this under my makeup every day for about 6 weeks and was expecting it to make a difference to the way my skin appeared. It simply doesn't. It offers up a dewy look on first application but for me that seemed to be about all it did. Once my makeup was on I could do one side of my face with and one without and see absolutely no difference. Again, in the right light, you can notice a faint sheen before your makeup goes on, but that's about it.

I have a similar product from another brand that is far superior to this primer and a lot cheaper. I have heard other girls rave about this and kind of wish I'd given my sample to one of them rather than battling on because it doesn't seem as if it was the right one for me personally. At $65 there is no way I'd buy it again.

The pluses? It feels nice, didn't break out my skin, did help my foundation go on more evenly - and it was free.

Koni my regular 'glow' primer might be more what you are looking for? Hard to get in NZ unfortunately but I love it: Victoria's Secret Fresh Face Brightening Gel Cream. Not a 'primer' per se but def peps up my skin

Darn it! I was really looking forward to the "glow". Great review Trudi, I always like to know the colour of a primer and if that colour is still visible once blended - very helpful!
