Prime crime

Was very silicone textured which didn't help my makeup stay in place, I also didn't like how It didn't really last either as the tube is such a small size. I do love the colour of the tube and the branding it is very cute and eye catching.

Tips: Don't use too much at any one time.

Its OK

I love Maybelline, Its affordable and easily accessible. But too be honest they let me down slightly with this one. Its not the worst product, but not the best. Its suuuuper smooth on the skin and definitely blurs pores but i found that in some areas of my face, it allowed my foundation to just slide off my face.

Tips: Some foundations have ingredients that don't go well with certain ingredients in primers. So i recommend checking that your primer and foundation are suitable with one another. You can easily do your research through videos on YouTube - there heaps of useful videos!

Decent and affordable

The packaging for this product is SO eye-catching, I had to try it. It worked alright. I’d squeeze a wee bit onto my fingertip and smooth into the areas I needed to prime for makeup. I did notice a blurring effect and my makeup went over it pretty well. I really didn’t have any problems with this one. I have used better primers which were more expensive, but I’d probably give this product another go because it’s so affordable.

baby my eye!

i think the packaging is a bit cartoony and certainly aimed for teens - i am no longer a teen but i cannot pass up "sale" hahahaha.

simple squeezy bottle, i put a bit on my fingers and moosh it around my face. i dont think it instantly erases anything but it feels nice gliding around my skin.

i use bb cream or foundation over top and it applies like normal, i have minimal complaints about that. i cant say i notice the primer increasing the life of the foundation though, and in some places i think it seems to make it worse, like around my nose or mouth.

i wouldn't repurchase this. it's not trash but ive certainly used better!

Maybelline Instant Pore Eraser

The name is a bit misleading in my opinion, I have large pores on my face, especially around my nose. The formula is a bit oily, just need a small amount patted into skin. I used foundation on top and it looked like the pores were slightly blurred, but still noticeable. Very reasonable price for a pore treatment.

Tips: Just use a pea sized amount patted into skin.

Mixed review

This works well on my skin and is so smooth on my skin when I apply it, but I get the same effect when I use wipes to clean my skin and then apply a little bit of face cream before applying makeup. So I don't really use this anymore BUT if you prefer primer over cream then I'd use this.

Tips: A little goes a long way, so the price for this little tube is worth it.

Baby soft but red and patchy.

I am always striving to perfect my base and even after finding the perfect foundation and concealer combination, I still think there must be a magic primer out there to erase all signs of my pores. The Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser isn't it. Well, not quite.

The Maybelline Baby Skin is a brilliant product and it does what it claims to do. It's affordable, exciting and is topped off with cute packaging. After applying a very small amount my face is smooth and the appearance of my pores is reduced. However it is essentially just a layer of silicone on my skin. At this point of application it is a great added, yet unseen extra for a no make up day. But after attempting to apply my foundation my opinion on the Maybelline Baby Skin changes. It turns out that she is a beautiful, stroppy baby who doesn't like to share her toys. On her own she is wonderful, but throw any foundation or concealer (and I tried them all) into the mix and the result is a tantrum, no coverage and patchiness. I tried everything to make the relationship between primer and foundation work, such as waiting before applying foundation, using a buffing brush, sponge, applying less product, only applying either side of my nose and using a thin layer of powder. As much as I desire the appearance of no pores, I won't give up the even, matte, redness free skin that my foundation provides.

Tips: It is a little hard to get your hands on this product, but I purchased mine from feelunique.com.

Baby Skin

Well Baby skin is in my thoughts is good if your just goin to use it on its own! It glides on easily, minimises your pores! But as soon as you apply your foundation and concealer it all goes wrong. Because the baby skin product is like silicone, your other products just slide around your face when you try to apply, also find your other products dont really set! So cant touch your face as it will slide of... love the cute packaging but thats about it...

Not the best

I picked this up when doing an order on makeup.co.nz and got this for NZD$14.99. I got this to use mainly as a primer, I'm not particularly concerned with the size of my pores really. But Benefit advertise their primer on the basis of covering pores and I like that, so I had high hopes.

I like the modern packaging. Just light pastel-y minty blue squeezy tube. Also on the front it has that graffiti pink writing very similar to the baby lips. Why they are marketing based on babies I don't know, personally I don't really want to look like a baby.

The product is a clear gel type consistency. It does smell it bit gross, but you can't really smell it once it is on the face. It is extremely similar to Benefit Porefessional in feeling, very silicone like. I have found that it reacts well with the different foundations that I have at the moment. It does make my foundation last well and it still looks nice at the end of the day. It also hasn't had any bad effect on my skin at all. It does make your skin feel and look quite smooth before putting your foundation on. The thing I didn't like about this was that throughout the day it remained quite 'wet'. It didn't dry down like the Benefit one. It felt like there was layer between my face and my makeup rather than making them into one. This annoyed me as if I touched my face (bad I know) you could still feel the siliconey feeling.

I was hoping for a dupe of the Benefit Porefessional here, but it just doesn't live up to that high standard. Maybe it will work for you but on my skin, not so much.

Does not minimise pores

My main reason for purchasing this product was because it says it minimises pores. I have quite obvious pores around my nose, so I was really hoping it would make them less noticeable. I've used this product a few times now and I'm yet to see any difference, which is disappointing.

However I still use it most days as a primer because it makes my face smooth, which is a nice base to work with. It has a sort of silicone finish to it. I've found it can be a bit oily around my nose, but nothing major. You only need a small amount of product to use on your face, as it spreads really easily.

I probably won't bother to repurchase this product, but I'll continue to use it until it's run out.
