No Baby Skin Here!

Because of the many rave reviews floating around online, I was really looking forward to trying this. Although my pores are generally not an issue I do have slightly enlarged pores between my brows and on my forehead.

The packaging for this gets 10/10. As well as being immediately eye catching in store, it is a pretty looking tube that looks adorable on your vanity. More importantly the tube is super easy to use and has a small nozzle at the end so you don't accidentally squirt too much product out.

The primer itself is a clear gel product that blends into the skin easily. It doesn't leave any kind of colour and has no noticeable scent. In terms of filling in your pores and making your skin appear like baby skin... It doesn't do that at all. At least not for me.

In fact, I didn't feel that this really did anything to my skin except leave it feeling like it had a thin layer of silicone on it. I have used other pore filling primers that are silicone based and don't mind the feeling of silicone on my skin - if the primer does what it claims to do. This however fell extremely flat for me. In fact I definitely prefer ELF's pore filling primer to this and think that is a much better purchase than this. It could just be my skin but this really didn't do anything to make my skin appear softer or smoother and it didn't fill my pores in.

I wouldn't repurchase this and don't even want to finish the tube - it will be gifted to a friend who wants to try it.

So far I agree with your opinion, I've tried it twice and come here to actually read reviews because it's doing nothing for me!

Thanks Jesse :) in all honesty I think both of those products are superior - it could just be my skin type but I didn't notice this filling in my pores at all. It reminds me of Smashbox's primer which is nice but not pore filling.

Great review Jess! How does it compare to ELF's mineral primer or Benefit's Porefessional if you don't mind me asking?

I love this primer it is best at the moment

I saw this Baby Skin formula spreading like wild fire all over the social media channels but at the time it was an exclusive item for USA so that moment when I spotted in at my local chemist whilst waiting for prescription to be filled was probably a little too excited for a chemist full of people to see, and it was the last one too so I was double excited. It is now more readably accessible in NZ now and I have spotted it at Farmers.

Design wise this cute little bottle comes in my favourite colour of the moment shade of blue/green (tiffany blue??) in quite a generous sized tube for a primer I think especially as it is only around $20 I feel this is a very affordable primer that having used for over 3 weeks now and not anywhere near the halfway point will last you a long while to use up.

The silicon feeling gel that is transparent absorbs quickly into your skin and a little goes a long way with a small dollop managing to cover my entire face, which is awesome as I have quite a fat round face for it to absorb into. Leaving my skin feeling soft and velvet to the touch and looking like a matte veil had been applied to it. It gives the perfect base for makeup which protected my oily t zone areas from shiny through my foundation all day.

I have also worn this alone with just a moisturiser underneath for those days where you want to look healthy and put together but can't be bothered with the hassle of a full on makeup look. I hope I never find myself hunting this primer down and I am rather tempted to go buy a back up while I know it is in stock locally as it is out of all the primers I currently have the best for what I want it to do.

Baby Skin!!

I have been using this primer for around a month and a half now, and I absolutely LOVE it! I have been a Too Faced Primed and Poreless advocate for years and i thought i would give this a try. I found it at my local supermarket (considering the size, the price didn't impress me much i have to say..), BUT upon trying it on at home, i was AMAZED at how smooth it is. It has a thick and clear consistency that glides on the skin with ease. With almost an oil like slide, it is easy to blend out, and a small amount definitely goes a LONG way- which helps considering the price. It has no scent, which i also like (a lot). I did help with hiding my pores a bit (but not by much), however, i noticed that the longevity of my foundation stayed a lot longer than normal when using this product. I absolutely LOVE it and have repurchased it again since.

Tips: I apply small dots on both cheeks, my forehead and chin, then blend it all with a stippling brush. Works better than using my fingers to apply it.

Baby soft but red and patchy.

I am always striving to perfect my base and even after finding the perfect foundation and concealer combination, I still think there must be a magic primer out there to erase all signs of my pores. The Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser isn't it. Well, not quite.

The Maybelline Baby Skin is a brilliant product and it does what it claims to do. It's affordable, exciting and is topped off with cute packaging. After applying a very small amount my face is smooth and the appearance of my pores is reduced. However it is essentially just a layer of silicone on my skin. At this point of application it is a great added, yet unseen extra for a no make up day. But after attempting to apply my foundation my opinion on the Maybelline Baby Skin changes. It turns out that she is a beautiful, stroppy baby who doesn't like to share her toys. On her own she is wonderful, but throw any foundation or concealer (and I tried them all) into the mix and the result is a tantrum, no coverage and patchiness. I tried everything to make the relationship between primer and foundation work, such as waiting before applying foundation, using a buffing brush, sponge, applying less product, only applying either side of my nose and using a thin layer of powder. As much as I desire the appearance of no pores, I won't give up the even, matte, redness free skin that my foundation provides.

Tips: It is a little hard to get your hands on this product, but I purchased mine from feelunique.com.

I love this stuff!!

I've been using this primer for weeks now and I absolutely love it. It's almost like a blur cream that blurs out pores and dry skin leaving a flawless canvas for your makeup application.

I do find that using my strobe cream afterwards gives me the best results so that is my preferred method. Although it is still fine if I'm in too much of a hurry and have to just slip slop and slap my makeup on.

It comes in the cutest 20ml tube, the packaging is very eye catching, so if you're a sucker for cute packaging then be prepared to add this bad boy to your collection lol.

It's a silocone based primer (which I'm currently obsessed with at the momet) I find they work best with my skin and always give the best results so this primer is perfect for me.

It does minimize the appearance of my pores, but for it to be really effective I do need to dab it on where my larger pores are which is the cheek area. I just feel that it gives the best results as a pore filler. My pores are very large and quite noticeable so I do like to try and blur them out completely.

I really like this primer and I have picked it up from the warehouse on special for around $13 so it is really affordable. Once my three (yes I have three lol) run out, I will definitely repurchase.

Doesn't seem to do much for me

I bought a tube of this a while ago off beauty joint. It wasn't too expensive and I really like trying new primers so I thought it would be good to give this one a go.

It comes in a cute looking mint green squeeze tube. If you have the baby lips balm, then you'll know how the writing is in that style. I like it although I'm sure it's marketed for a much younger audience then me! It's not a very big tube at all, only 20mls but you do only need a small amount so it will last a while.

This comes with the very detailed instructions of 'smooth onto areas with visible pores'. I like to use maybe a bit smaller than a pea sized amount. I have rather large pores on my cheeks and I also use it on my chin and forehead. It is a clear silicone type gel and the best way to use it is to pat it into your skin. Since it is for pore filling, you don't need to use it over your entire face, just pat where needed. It's also best if you wait a few minutes before applying your foundation.

I find this does give me a smooth result, not completely poreless but I can see a difference. I find that it doesn't really last all day and I do notice my foundation sinking into my pores in the afternoon.

If this lasted all day, I'd definitely buy it again but I've used better primers so although I'm glad I tried it, I wouldn't repurchase it.

Baby Skin

Well Baby skin is in my thoughts is good if your just goin to use it on its own! It glides on easily, minimises your pores! But as soon as you apply your foundation and concealer it all goes wrong. Because the baby skin product is like silicone, your other products just slide around your face when you try to apply, also find your other products dont really set! So cant touch your face as it will slide of... love the cute packaging but thats about it...

Great For Non-makeup Days

I purchased this product around a month ago. It caught my eye due to the cute tube and the idea of baby skin on my face ate me up, and I had to purchase. The first few times I used the product it was on make up free days. For this use, I have found it satisfactory. It does what it says in concealer pores by coating a silicone-like layer of product over your face. The application process to me was not very appealing, as it felt like I was smearing my face with a heavy type of gel. It did not feel light on my skin at all. However, it definitely covered my pores.

The big problems with this product started when I tried to use it under my every day make up as a pore eraser. It states on the product that it can be used under makeup but I fail to see how. When applying foundation and/or concealer after using this product, I'm literally just moving my foundation around my face and the makeup slides everywhere! I've tried to apply my foundation over the top of this product with multiple different brushes, a beauty blender and my fingers and had no success in getting an even foundation finish. Instead it has been blotchy, patchy and outright jelly-ish. So I've given up on this product as part of my average makeup routine. Would love to know how to apply it so everything stays where it should.

Tips: Wear only on days where you're not planning on wearing make up.

Good on its own

I bought a couple of these when they were on special and have tried them a number of times now. It's amazing how well they help hide my (very large) pores.

I tend to get quite oily skin by early afternoon which is why I wear primers but found that Baby Skin didn't help with this at all, if anything it just made the problem worse. Even worse still was when I tried wearing it under makeup! I might still use it on top of my other primer (I do like how Baby Skin blurs my pores) but that seems a bit redundant.

Tips: Only use on otherwise "makeup free" days, and avoid if prone to oily skin.

Love love love!

So I bought this online because I'm really not too keen on spending $25 on a primer at Farmers. This stuff is a god-send. I have pretty large pores around my nose and this fills them in so well! It comes out clear and it feels super siliconey and amazing. I feel like as well as making my pores appear smaller, it also makes my foundation slide on really easily. I also don't think you need to use very much for it to work well. I have oily/sensitive skin and I didn't find that this broke me out at all. This is one of my favourite primers ever! and I feel like I can still use it underneath other primers, like the loreal lumi magique, as they both do different things
