The Stuff Dreams are made of

If you havent heard about this product? Well, you would be living under the same rock i was about this time last year. The only reason i even found it was because i was on the hunt for a perfect foundation, and after having a not-so-pleasant encounter at MAC, i found myself at the mecca counter getting color matched. At the time, i couldn't afford to splurge on the item, but kept it in the back of my head.

When i saw it for sale for around $50 NZD, i knew it was fate, and i brought it without a second thought.

The packaging. Its sleek, and sophisticated. In comes in a plastic jar, which is a rectangle shape, with a square base. It has a matte black lid which matches the bottle shape perfectly, and it has the word NARS written down the side of the bottle. Like i said, really classy, and the only downside is that this product come with a lid, but no pump. The pump has to be purchased separately, which adds more cost to this product.

As i got colour matched, this foundation is the perfect colour for my skintone (stromboli), and matches my undertones perfectly, which is something i really struggle to find within a foundation.

The foundation is smooth, and almost creamy to look at. Its a lovely texture, and consistency, not to thin and not to thick. It sits on the back of my hand nicely without rolling right off it, so im happy. Its easy to apply to my face too and can either give me a gorgeous sheer look, or i can build the product up to get medium coverage.

I just love the look this foundation gives my skin. It makes my skin look so healthy, and even without looking cakey and gross. Will definitely buy this one again, and next time i might just have to buy the pump as well.

The girl that matched me was amazing, she didnt try push the product or anything, she just gave me the mecca card and let me think about it for myself

Eeeeeeeeeeee!! I've wanted to try this product for ages and used several "online matching tools" because I hate the task of getting colour matched instore and having to listen to the sales pitch! I'll try this shade at the counter woohoo!

Expensive but sooo worth it!

I got this bad boy as part of my Superhero mystery shop from the Mecca website. It was $74. At first I scoffed at the price, kinda hoping that I wouldn't love it because of the price but this was not the case.

I went through the painful process of getting my colour match perfectly right. In the end I came to the colour of Sante Fe which is a warm neutral beige colour with a pink undertone. For $74 I kind of expected the bottle to be bigger.

The foundation itself is quite a runny consistency but it isn't too runny that it will run off the brush or sponge. The shade is actually quite light compared to that pictured on the site which is annoying. I could have gone for a slightly darker shade because this colour washes me out a tad.

Despite the mess up in the colour, I needed to see what the huge hype up about it was. The foundation blends in well with a sponge and with a brush but I prefer to use a sponge to have the flawless look. The coverage is quite amazing really. I can go all day and not have to worry about it running off my face, even in the heat!

There is one complaint I have with this. It tends to cling to any tiny dry patch I have on my face. Instead of hiding it like it should, it puts it on show for all to see. Lucky for me I manage to cover it up with concealer over top and a finishing powder.

My skin looks flawless after use. It doesn't make my skin oily or appear like I have caked on makeup. It evens my tone out and hides any redness on my cheeks that I have. It makes a perfect canvas for any other makeup I may put on over top with the exception of the dry patches.

In summary, my skin looks fab (on the most part), it covers most imperfections, it lasts all day long. What more could I want out of a foundation? I am hooked and that $74 doesn't seem so outlandish now considering how much I love it.

Tips: Use a setting or finishing powder.

I expected more

I have bought this foundation due to all the positive reviews and this is such a hyped up product, I just had to have it. I was so sure it would be amazing, as I’ve bought Nars longwear radiant foundation a week before this and it amazed me. I only chose that one first as that one came with a pump as well. I still don’t have a pump for this foundation, I know it only costs $6 at mecca, but I think for the price it should be included. Plus other negative is that after you put the pump on, the lid (obviously) won’t fit, so it’s not travel friendly at all, unless you want to risk wasting expensive foundation. The formula is very nice and it provides a great finish, not too shiny, not too matte. However it doesn’t last the whole day, not even half a day for me, even though I set it with powder as well. I have skin that is on the drier end, only my t-zone plays up most of the time, so if you have a full on oily skin I wouldn’t recommend getting this one, but then again I’ve read lots of reviews from oily skin types that it was great for them, so maybe ask for a sample first.

Tips: Pump is $6 at mecca maxima. :)

Light weight and lighter coverage

If you're a girl who doesn't like the idea of wearing heavy makeup -- this one's for you! Blendable, light and airy, this one is good for those who enjoy a dewy complexion and don't have much to hide. It also blends beautifully with concealer.

However, I enjoy heavier coverage and found that this tends to come out throughout the day and certainly cannot stay put when you're going out.

Tips: Definitely use a long-lasting primer and set with some foundation.

Mixed feelings.

I was colour matched with the shade oslo. (fair skin with pinky undertones). It is quite a good match for my skin which can be difficult to find in a foundation. I find it provides a light to medium coverage but to achieve medium coverage it can crease into my forehead wrinkles making them look worse. It also doesn't provide enough coverage to conceal redness on my cheeks so it's not my all-time favorite foundation. I think it is fairly expensive considering it has no pump dispenser but I really like the shade so I continue to purchase.

Tips: Get colour matched in store first as there are a variety of shades.

I turned into an oil slick!

One of my least favourite foundations I have ever tried, I really wanted to love it but unfortunately it just did not work well for my skin. I have quite dry, dehydrated skin and after just hours of use it looked really oily. Just did not work for me at all.

Wow that's weird it went oily on you, you'd think it would match your skin type well. I wasn't sold on it when I tried it either and I'm dry

My holy grail foundation!

This is my perfect foundation, I'll never use anything else again (well, until I find something even better).

It isn't particularly sheer OR glowy, but it is a very good medium- to full-coverage foundation that doesn't look heavy or cakey.

I dot this around my face with my fingers and then blend in with a buffing brush or a beauty blender sponge. It works well with all forms of application.

You can mix in a liquid highlighter to give this more of a glow.

It stays on ALL day and doesn't wear off or become patchy. I have oily skin and I do sometimes need to powder near the end of the day but nothing major!

Tips: Apply it with your (clean) fingers - Francois Nars developed it to be applied that way.

@itskaz_xo I use both a NARS primer and the Benefit Porefessional (although not at the same time!) and they work well with it. They're not completely necessary, the staying power is so good!

I've heard so many wonderful things about this foundation. Do you use a primer with it? If so, which one? Definitely wanting to try it out.

I have been thinking about buying this foundation for awhile, but was worried it wouldn't be a good fit for me due to having oily skin at times, and it seems to be really promoted as a dry skin product. I think i'll give it a go though!

Gorgeous Foundation!

I've recently started trying more glowy/sheer foundations since I've always worn full coverage foundation and bought a bottle of Nars Sheer Glow. It is definitely a light/medium coverage foundation which you can build up if needed. I found that it didn't have the staying power that other foundations have though however this might just be me! Even though it didn't stay on as long as I would have liked, it applied very smoothly and I did like the look it gave my skin. Definitely would try it again.

:D!

first thing, nars sheer glow ISNT SHEER or GLOW-y. however it is still a lovely foundation, it has really nice coverage, a teeny bit buildable. the consistency of it is like a bit thicker than a runny egg yolk if you get what i mean haha. sadly as it is getting into summer the shade i was using before now doesnt suit me :(

WORTH THE PRICE!

Bought this because Pixiwoo was raving about how you could get a flawless yet natural complexion and I have to agree. I use a the Real Techniques expert face brush and it glides on like a dream. I feel extra fancy when I pull this out. Only downer is that it doesn't come with a pump however its sold separately... So overall I can't complain. <3 HG item
