I had heard that this particular matte foundation wasn't that great (just through friends ands friends of friends), but because I love matte foundation and have tried a few that have been suggested to me and They have failed,I decided to try this one,and omg I LOVE this, it's so good on my skin and it doesn't irritate me either. It's not cakey and I wore it for a few hours one day without setting spray and it was still fine when I got home :) I find it blends really well also. It is pricier then some I've used but it's my #1 foundation at the moment :)

Tips: If you know your colour,it's cheaper to buy online
I'm pale. Quite pale and growing up the only foundation available to me was Revlon Colorstay in Ivory. But huzzah there is way more shade range these days thanks to the internet. As NZ is often overlooked in the full shade ranges.
Enter Maybelline M&P. I had shade 110 - the fairest available in NZ. It was OK, but I did sometimes wonder if it was too dark. But thanks to Arna Alayne on YouTube I became aware of shade 102.... ooooooh
It took hours to find an online store that would ship to NZ and a combination of Amazon and YouShop and I have two bottles of $5.50USD in shade 102. (which prob all up cost me like $40NZD ....)
Anyway, I find this foundation is close to the flawless porcelain finish that I desire, and matched with a high quality powder looks great. It is not full coverage but pretty good. I'm a normal skin type - was oily younger and getting dryer with age.
I successfully use either brush or sponge to apply.
Tips: I think this would be great for oily skin types but prob not great for very dry.
Also be aware that the Dewy finish version of this foundation has quite different shades with the same numbers.
Matte everything is the big trend at the moment, and a matte foundation is the perfect thing for us oily skinned ladies. This product certainly reduces the appearance of pores and provides great coverage, however I find that it refuses to stay put on my face no matter what primer and setting spray I use. It moves around on your face a lot and slides off very easily. So overall I'd say it's a fairly average product that looks good when first applied but certainly won't stay looking that way all day.
Tips: DEFINITELY use both a primer and a setting spray with this product so that you can at least prolong how long it'll stay in place.
I had been religiously using the Kat Von D lock it foundation before this but now that I have discovered this it is my go to! It sits on my skin super well and lasts all day despite having oily skin and working in retail (plus being a pretty sweaty gal).
I really like this foundation, however I'm between colours which is really annoying. It also would be better if it had a pump bottle. It gives a buildable coverage and is matte but not too matte. Lasts pretty well and doesn't get too oily on me.
Tips: I prefer to use with a damp beauty blender, but also works with a flat blender brush.
This is my favourite drugstore foundation! I love the way it applies and lasts all day when I am at work wearing my glasses. The colour range is great and with being matte is doesn't make my skin dry. 100% recommend trying this out!
Shade Range - 120 – Classic Ivory. 9 Matte shades available in range. Limited colour range, only 1 deep shade. Packaging -Glass bottle, tidy labelling, twist off lid, open bottle – no applicator. Weight on face ⁃ Light weight Coverage ⁃ Medium Wearability – Not long wearing, will transfer to hand, clothes ect, when touched. Not transfer proof, not water or smudge proof. Setting spray can help, but not on very long hot days. Buildable – Buildable with concealer and translucent powder. Smell ⁃ No smell?? maybe slight “makeup” smell, but nothing obvious. Drying finish ⁃ Matte almost powder finish Texture – Smooth, Medium liquid texture. Skin types – For normal to oily skin. If you have really dry skin, matte foundations can sometimes stick to the dry areas and accentuate those areas when you might not want to. I have combination skin, so if I moisturise daily, Im usually pretty good. However, I can go dry really quickly. I have had no issues with this foundation with dry areas. Colour – Matches well. I have mild light olive skin, so I like to go for a yellow undertone foundation in the light range. The 120 Classic Ivory was perfect. Oxidise ⁃ Some oxidising after several hours of wear. Not as obvious if concealer and translucent powder used. Powder – Can go without powder, but will use translucent powder in T zone areas for a more lasting finish. Dries to a nice matte finish without powder. Banana powder or foundation powder will make it look cakey. Best tools – Flat top brush with a dabbing motion or hands. Using a sweeping motion can cause streaks with this foundation and a beauty blender tends to just soak it all up. Mils/ longevity ⁃ Standard 30mls. Can get a lot of use out of a whole bottle, don’t need much product for desired result. Price range ⁃ (sale price, full price) *Prices at time of researching for review* Farmers – $26.99 (but you do get your loyalty points and vouchers, often have sales) Warehouse – $22 recreateyourself.co.nz – 20.75 afterpay available. makeup.co.nz $24.99 Kmart – $25 beautybliss.co.nz – $24.95 paylater part pay available
Worth the Price? Definitely worth the price. Very affordable, reliable foundation.
Pros - Affordable Applies nicely Blends out well Colour matches pretty well Looks really good Don’t need a lot of product It layers well Can wear without powder Good simple packaging Standard 30mls.
Cons- Not a huge colour range Is not transfer proof or long wearing No pump applicator Not full coverage Can get cakey with some powders Oxidises slightly Can get patchy if you get sweaty or oily
Tips: For swatches and before and after photos see my profile :)
Love the finish and how it wears but I can never find the right undertone for me. It's always either too yellow or too pink, I can never find anything more neutral.
But. It is a great drugstore foundation. It's a medium buildable coverage and wears pretty well throughout the day without clinging too much to my dry patches. Great product for the price.
Tips: Try and buy it online, it's usually half the price than New Zealand stockists! Let the foundation sit on your skin for 20 minutes when shade matching as it changes with your body heat etc
Didn't like it at all and I have oily skin. It may be because my skin is a little drier then usual in winter? I will keep it for summer though and see how it goes on then, hopefully it glides on easier. It made my skin look very dry and dried fast when trying to blend in. Colour matches and the coverage are really good though.
I am quite pale and ivory was too dark for me in this range, it sat really badly on my skin, pooling in areas and looking cakey. I was quite disappointed as I had heard so many great things about this, with me it's either hit or miss and this was definately a miss.
