Australis contour review!

So I got this given to me as a present too try out and I'm kinda half half about it, it IS good, but sometimes hard to blend if you don't have a decent brush. The pigment is the best part of this product though, you don't need much at all.

Tips: Just lightly dab your brush in this product! A LITTLE defintley goes a long way!

One out of 6

To be honest there's only one of pan out of the 6 I actually like, and that's the highlighter. The contour shade is way too ashy for my skin tone and doesn't take much at all for it to look like a splash of mud on my face. The yellow and more pale powder are so powdery and kick up a lot of product when you dip your brush in so I find that I have to blow away a lot of excess product which is a pain because that's wasting product. The bronzers just don't look right on my skin (i'm very fair) and I have the lightest shade contour pallete you can buy. The bronzer takes a LOT of packing on to see a difference and is still a very muddy tone of bronzer sadly. THE HIGHLIGHT though, is literally the best I've ever used and looks soo pretty on the top of my cheek bone. I use it purely for the highlighter!

Good for learning to contour

When this product came out, I remember being really excited about it. However I didn't use it for awhile. During this time I heard a lot of mixed reviews, people either loved it or hated it. As a woman of colour, I started to doubt whether this product would work for me, because it is aimed at people with fair complexions. Darker colours have come out (YES!), but I haven't tried them yet. Recently I gave this another try, and i was pretty impressed with it. Unfortunately I cant use all of the colours (unless I use them as eyeshadows), but the ones that I tried weren't bad. I am a beginner to contouring, so I prefer a more natural look, and I think this product has been a great start to venturing into the world of contouring.

Affordable

I had seen this product advertised on the internet and had to try it. My friend had warned me to stay away from the cream one of this product as she had tried it and it didn't look good at all, so I decided on the powder. It was a good price which was another good reason why I bought it. It's great how it shows you on the back how to apply because I had no idea at all, I was new to contouring. The colours were good (I got the light complexion) and it was actually really fun to use, has a decent size mirror too! Just had to make sure I blended it in really well so I didn't end up with lines on my face. It's a good beginners kit.

Great affordable contour kit

As someone with super fair skin, I find it hard to get good contouring and highlighting products.

The matte highlights are perfect on my fair skin, providing some coverage and are actually brightens my under eye area without giving it a weird yellowish cast.

The shimmer highlight is a nice colour, a slightly peachy pink, with a good amount of sheen, without being too over the top (great for every day wear, not a BAM in your face highlight). On my fair, yellow toned skin though, I would have liked for it to be a little more pale and golden toned.

The contour colours are okay, I used the middle one to contour, which is a nice cool colour, just a little too dark for my personal skin tone. If I just touch my brush in it and really buff that out, I can get away with it. I tried the warmer colours for bronzing, but again, they were really too deep for my skin tone, and made me look a little too warm/muddy (although again, with a very light hand I can get away with them at a push).

In terms of texture, the colours are pigmented, and blend relatively well. Because of the contrast in colour between them and my skin, they weren't the most bendable powders, but I could make it work.

Its great for the price, and mid-deep skintones may love this, if you have fair skin, you can make it work, but it takes more work, as the shades aren't that great for pale skin.

Tips: Use a light hand because the colours are pigmented, but can be finicky to blend out (especially the contour colours on fair skin)

Bold and pigmented

I have been using the AConTour kit for a few months now. The powders are very pigmented! I enjoy the banana powder for lightning under the eyes and the highlighter for a shuttle glow. The bronzer in the "light" pallet was very cool toned and had to blend. The contour color is very pigmented and requires a lot of blending to create a natural look. It is a nice pallete but I have less expensive ones that are easier to work with.

Tips: Barely dip brush into pan (a very light tap, then tap off excess)

Good price

The kit was a good price and I loved the how to guide on the back, the colours match my skin tone well but I find it takes a while to blend! The highlighter is great To use everyday since it isn’t to harsh and looks natural!

Tips: Blend blend blend

Australis AC ON Tour Kit Review

I enjoyed the lighter shades especially for lower jawbone application. The creamy texture glided on effortlessly during application. Darker shades have the correct amount of pigment but are required to be used sparingly. For this reason, I found that I had dark shades left and no light ones! Additionally if you are beginner at blending then do not purchase as its not the easiest contour kit to use.

Tips: Make sure you have a blending brush and contour brushes as this kit does not come with any and DOES require them. Use dark shades sparingly

Australis AC On Tour Kit

People have been going MAD for this kit ever since word of it's release hit the net. A drugstore contour palette that was a dupe for the much-loved Anastasia Beverly Hills Cotour Palette had the beauty-world in a spin and it sold out everywhere, so when I managed to spot one on sale at Priceline when I was on holiday I had to see what the fuss was.

The kit itself contains 3six shades in total, three to highlight and three to contour. The highlighting shades were: - a matte, pink-toned beige. I have medium, warm-toned skin so I found this shade a little on the light side for me but have used it as a brow-bone highlight. - a matte banana shade, I used this for setting under-eye concealer as I found it brightened the eye area nicely. - a warm beige shade with a slight shimmer through it. I really wanted to like this as colour-wise it was perfect for my skin tone but I found the consistency a little chalky for my taste so I haven't been using it as often as my baked highlighter.

The contouring shades all had a matte finish and consisted of: - A medium, warm-toned brown. Great for warmer skin tones and would suit fairer girls. - A cool-toned cocoa brown, I didn't really use this as it didn't suit my skin. - A warm-toned earthy brown. I naturally gravitated to this shade most out of the contour colours as it was the most similar to other contours I have.

I found all of the powders had quite a bit of fall-out so do make a fair bit of mess in the palette. It's better to pick up a little powder at a time and work from there. The contour shades are very pigmented so you really only need a light hand. I found them quite hard to blend in and if you had been too heavy-handed they can have more of a streaky, muddy effect that's hard to salvage. I've been told such effects make it look like I've been 'punched in the face'.

Regarding the packaging the slimline plastic case suits it well, it's simple but functional and the catch holds the case closed well. I love bronzer but I'm definately a contouring novice so was glad to see the back of the palette had a step-by-step contouring and highlighting how-to.

Would I buy it again? Not personally, I do think it's a good product and would suit those better at contouring but despite really wanting to love this I haven't been able to get the hang of using it. The contour shades are just a bit too hard to master and blend in for a novice like me and while the highlight shades are okay, particularly the banana for concealing, I still reach for other products more often.

Tips: Use a light hand and experiment with the contour shades to see which looks most natural on you.

The banana shade is perfect for brightening up the eye area!

AC ON TOUR

People and their mothers have been going crazy about this pallet, mainly because it's affordable and available in stores in NZ.

The packaging is okay as it dose have instructions on how to contours. It's made out of plastic so it's easy to travel with. The only down side is that it's lacking a mirror.

This pallet is mainly for tanned people as the browner shades do make fair toned people look muddy.

The yellow shade is my favourite I use it set my concealer as it give it a brightening effect.

This pallet is great for beginners or anyone on a budget.

Tips: If you have the option to try it out please do so before buying.
