I own this in the shade Blue. The mascara comes packaged in an eye-catching cobalt blue tube with white writing. The tube is very attractive. The wand is quite thick but looks like a standard mascara wand. The mascara is a stunning cobalt blue in colour and it delivers great colour pay-off. Two coats gives me really bold blue lashes without any clumps. I find the mascara to be stunning and I have been getting so many compliments on it since wearing so the colour is definitely noticeable. I find this is a great mascara as well, it doesn't clump and it can easily be built up. It isn't too drying on my lashes and it's quite easy to remove. I also liked how affordable this was. I'll definitely be trying more colours from the range in the future!

I love colour, so I was really excited to get my hands on one of these recently. I'm not sure if technically coloured mascara is considered cool anymore, but I think it might need to make a comeback.
I got the blue because it just stood out the most, but I may have to try the purple at some stage too.
To apply you can either apply one light coat for a more subtle effect or another coat for a bolder effect. The mascara is relatively pigmented so it gives a nice pop of colour, without being too heavy to wear. It also didn't clump too much, which is always preferable in a mascara.
To look at, the packaging is the colour of the mascara within with white writing on the tube, making it stand out and also making it clearly identifiable which mascara colour you're getting. While the brush inside is a fairly standard shape for a mascara brush.
The price of these was also pretty good and I would be excited to try other shades. My Farmers only had 3 shades though not the 8 mentioned above.
I'd been looking for a purple or violet mascara for a long time, and after trying Almay's "Black Plum" which was disappointing, I found NYX Colour Mascara in Purple.
The colour was exactly what I was looking for - a bright, vibrant purple. I have quite dark eyelashes, so I had to layer quite a few coats to get the colour to show, and it didn't add any length or volume to my lashes. It has a standard mascara wand that is not huge and fluffy, but like a regular spoolie. The formula of the mascara doesn't clump for flake, and it easily coats each individual lash, washing off easily at the end of the day with a foaming cleanser.
It's a great, affordable coloured mascara that I would consider repurchasing, as I haven't come across any other decent purple-coloured mascaras that are actually a true purple or violet colour.
Tips: If you want a bit more length, volume or a more vibrant colour, wait for each coat to dry before applying a bit more.
I really just impulse purchased this when I happened to luck out and be in Sydney while Priceline had their 40% off all makeup special. I'm actually pleasantly surprised.
I have NYX Color Mascara in shade CM01 - Purple/Violet. As I have naturally black lashes I didn't hold out a lot of hope for visible colour, but I was delighted to be proved wrong. A mere couple of coats of this mascara provides a wee pop of purple without it being too much.
What's more, this is actually a reasonable, simple mascara. It's not really lengthening or volumnising - it's not designed to be - but it coats lashes well enough and is completely wearable, just with the cute addition of colour.
Removal is easy enough with the standard methods (I use oil cleanser and it comes off straight away), and i haven't experienced flaking and drying over the day with this - to be fair, i wear it infrequently, and mostly at the weekend though.
The brush is a standard barrel, tapered at both ends, attached to a long wand. It's easy to hold and to use.
I would actually revisit this brand to check out their black mascara having used this one! Quite impressed for the under $10 I paid!
Tips: curl your lashes slightly first - it makes the colour pop more
I bought this whilst in Australia after randomly wanting a purple mascara. Don't ask me why, I have no idea. But this little gem for the price was actually pretty good!
As a cheaper mascara I was afraid it was going to be clumpy or just make my lashes look all around horrendous. Surprisingly, this actually worked quite well as a mascara (I would totally consider this brand for my everyday black mascara next time). It didn't do anything amazing to my lashes (lengthen or curl, etc) but it didn't make them look bad which is the main thing for me!
The colour: sadly, the purple wasn't quite as bright on my dark lashes as I'd hoped. Rather, it's more of a subtle deeper purple on me. And although I had hoped for something a little brighter, I actually quite like the subtle deeper tone now - a little more wearable. It also comes off easy enough both with just cleanser or with eye makeup remover.
The packaging is simple. Just a regular mascara tube and brush - nothing that I personally would rave about as something that stands out on the shelf. But sometimes simple is better and that's what I've found is often the case with NYX products.
Would I repurchase this mascara? When I want another 'coloured' mascara or a cheap everyday mascara to throw in the handbag then I probably would (especially if it is on sale). Would I replace my everyday, favourite black mascara with it - no. It's a good product but in my opinion, not the best out there.
Tips: The more coats, the more colour comes through. Keep an eye out for any sales on at Farmers!
Many advise that brown is most alluring on blue-eyed folk like this girl. I am definitely an advocate for copper and taupe eye shadow hues so I was pleased to find a mascara in brown (not as common as one would think). These Nyx color mascaras come in some very rad and exciting shades but I am a beige preppy (personally) so I went for my longed-for brown. There was negligible difference between brown and my usual black mascara but that is neither here nor there, unless you are buying for its very brownness. The mascara itself, to put aside colour for a moment, is of pretty flexible character. It gives good length and is of a pleasing consistency.
I bought this on a whim a few years ago in Melbourne, before NYX was readily available in New Zealand stores. Call it a moment of wanting to relive my youth - I had an amazing purple mascara that I loved in the 80s and wanted that back in my life! Whilst this does give a good colour payoff with a few coats, it did nothing for my lashes. It adds neither length or volume. This can be used over a volumising mascara to give more oomph but you lose a lot of the colour impact this way. Sadly this wasn’t didn’t live up to my 80s expectations so I barely wore this before it was time to be binned. I guess some things are best left in the past.
I entered a competition on instagram and I was very fortunate to win two coloured mascara. I have never used coloured mascara before. This was my very first time. Coloured mascara is great for make up looks with a difference. Ive only ever tried black mascara so it gave me an opportunity to experiment with it.
Nyx can be purchased online and I believe at selected farmers stores. Most online sites stock nyx. This coloured mascara comes in a generous sized bottle. Both bottles colour represent the colour of the product inside. Each bottle is labelled clearly. I have a very peachy shade that is called Coral reef. My other colour I have is a pale shade of purple called Forget Me Not. The consistency of this mascara is smooth. Each colour is vibrant and appears brightly on my lashes. This wand is thin with very tightly compacted bristles. First wand that I've used with bristles so small.
With application I only need two applications to get a bright colour. I tried using more than two and it did become clumpy slightly. With these bristles being so short, there's no way possible to get mascara on your skin. You could possibly use this mascara to create winged liner if you wanted too. I tried the purple on my lower lash line but it appeared grey toned on my medium to dark skin tone.
If your looking for a pop of colour in your make up looks I do recommend these mascaras. Their easy to use. Their priced affordably and have a great colour pay off. I would happily buy more, I would love a midnight blue and a darker shade of purple.
