I have never used these type of nails before and would never use them again. It took me a fair amount of time to sort out which nails were the correct fit and despite scrupulously following the instructions I found it extremely difficult to put the nails on and in some cases I had to apply the glue three times.
I was disappointed with the quality of the nails as some had patches of missing nail polish.
The nails did not look too bad once I managed to get them to stick, but for me personally I found them a little long and could find no information on whether I could cut them, so just filed the ends.
I was excited to be trialling these nails and actually squealed when they arrived, I chose Runway from the 9-5 Collection which was a sparkly pink colour (totally me!).
Although I have used fake nails before, I made sure to read the easy to follow instructions before applying. The first thing I noticed was the length of the nails as I was finding the right sizes for my fingers. It seems wasteful to have to cut so much off the nail to have them at a 'functioning' length. Alas I am not one of those Real Housewives of New Zealand who sip champagne at lunchtime and have servants to do all the work. I am an office manager so the bulk of my work day is administration.
The second thing I noticed was the ridiculously sharp points on them, who in their right mind would wear their nails filed so sharp? Toilet paper issues came to mind! Again it seemed wasteful to cut so much of the nail off.
Bearing in mind the instructions that warned against getting the glue wet for the first couple of hours after application, I applied the nails on Sunday night, hoping the glue would be bonded and set enough for my workday Monday. The nails were really easy to apply (I only stuck my fingers together once lol) and the different sizes in the pack made for easy fitting.
I went through my usual routine Monday morning getting ready for work, and after showering noticed that some of the pink colour on the nails had turned silver, almost as if it had rubbed off.
I also noticed after doing quite a bit of typing on Monday that two of the nails appeared to have started splitting, so I cut and filed them instead of removing them.
Tuesday morning in the shower I lost three nails while washing my hair. I refitted new nails while eating breakfast so it wasn't a big deal.
Wednesday I noticed all but two of the nails had distinct silver patches on them where the pink had rubbed off. I lost two nails while unloading the dishwasher and didn't bother reapplying them.
Thursday is today and in between showering, filing and making coffees today I have lost another six nails. Now I know the box says "lasts up to 10 days" but for the price Teddy Lane are asking for these nails, I would have thought they would last closer to the 10 days than this - it has been a disappointing trial this time round.
Tips: I wouldn't buy these nails for 'every day' use, but would recommend them for a special occasion where you aren't going to be putting any pressure on them and they're only needed to look nice for a few hours.
