I really like the look of the liquid sands once they are applied but I feel there are more downsides to wearing it. 1. It is very hard to get off. 2. It chips a lot more than any other OPI. 3. Can't use a top coat as it takes away the sand look. 4. You have to reapply again the next day to give that shiny sand look. But as I said when it is first applied it looks awesome :)

OPI Liquid Sand (all shades)

Tips: Use a base coat to make it easier to get off.
I love love love the texture, colour and finish of this product, however it's a nightmare to remove! Also I find it chips quite easily. Definitely one of my favourite polishes, and my favourite OPI shade!
I have a few of these and use them quite a lot. The colours are just stunning. I don't find I get much use out of it being textured, but it's always a conversation starter. I did find that it chipped easily if I didn't use top coat, which the product itself recommends not to use as it decreases the sandyness, but I found that it's still a noticeable texture so I prefer to use a top coat and have it last longer.
Tips: I would recommend using a top coat with this. You can still feel the sand and see the texture, AND it lasts longer.
I bought this off a BR lovely as my first ever OPI nail polish! Imagine the excitement I was feeling at using my first OPI! Oh the very thrill of it! I didn't pay full price obviously as it was second hand. I have the colour Honey Ryder which is a gold colour with shimmer throughout to give it some pop!
I love that there is a label attached to the bottle that allows me to feel the texture of how it will dry once applied. It does indeed feel like sand has been mixed with nailpolish and put on my nails. It's very rough but lessens once I put my clear coat on. I prefer it with the top coat because it tends to catch on my clothes and chip without it.
The size of the bottle is quite generous but for the RRP price I would expect it to be that big anyway. The brush is not my favorite. It's quite small and skinny but it is long which I prefer for my big un-girly hands. It's far too skinny which means that I have to use more than two swipes to ensure that I get the best coverage I can with minimal effort. It doesn't hold alot of polish on it either which means I have to redip at least once to get enough product for each nail.
The formula is quite thick which is quality to me. It means that I don't have to keep reapplying to get the colour that I expect it to be. It dries pretty fast to my surprise. It was touch dry within three minutes and dry enough to go and do the things I always do within ten minutes without fear of scratching or chipping it easily.
The lasting power is actually quite amazing and just goes to show that money is in this case worth it for the quality you get. I love it all until that is removing it! I used ten pads and around 4 tablespoons of remover to get it all off! The elbow grease it took to remove it was ridiculous! It also left glitter and shards of polish all over the place! I had to vacuum afterwards because it looked gross all over the floor. I was going to score big until it came to removal. This could be considered a good thing, that it's tough wearing but it's actually more irritating that anything and messed up my house! Not a huge fan anymore.
Tips: Get ready to give your arms a work out trying to get it off
Upon first applying this I was IN LOVE. I was certain I had found a new fave. Gorgeous rough texture with a hint of sparkle yet somehow still matte enough to keep high glamour and class.
Fast forward one day and the chipping started. Unlike a normal polish that chips small and discreetly, this polish chipped HUGE and once it started to go it was a floodgate.
I had no choice but to remove it all, with great difficulty. As with other textured polishes this was a serious mission to remove.
I should say that I don't use a base coat, which could have been my problem. I really should invest in one.
I would use it again because I genuinely love the effect and it's something completely out of the box. Probably more suited to a big night out rather than for lasting the entire working week.
I have alcatraz rocks and it is truly stunning on. This lasts for about an hour then it becomes a little stressful. I find that, because you don't apply a topcoat for the sand texture, it chips very easily. It also wears down very fast on my fingertips so i have to reapply every night to maintain them. OPI does warn us that the stay on life isn't that long, but i was hopping for it to last longer than an hour without chipping. However very pretty! i will probably not repurchase a liquid sand for the texture but for the glitter combo in the future.
I really like these as I'm a huge fan of weird nail trends! They feel really cool on and last for ages, however it's a little annoying that you can't use a top coat without losing the effect of the sand, and they can get a little annoying after a while as I find my nails will start to catch on things or get fluff stuck to them!
I have the pale pink shade ("Pussy Galore"), and I think it's really pretty, with an interesting texture.
However, it's one hell of a job to remove! I also found it necessary to wear a top coat so my nails didn't feel rough to the touch.
I definitely enjoy this nail polish, but you really have to commit to it.
Tips: use a base AND top coat
I have Solitaire and when applied thinly, this is beautiful, but is a bit too much for me when put on like a normal coat of polish. I only wear it from time to time as the texture feels weird and I end up scratching at it!
Tips: I always apply OPI Natural nail base coat & Top Coat
I bought the OPI Liquid Sand in purple, it's a beautiful rich dark purple that glitters and sparkles. Pro's: great colour, amazing sparkle and lasts like no other. Con's: I cant really fault it apart from the texture without coating, feels a little weird at first.
Tips: Wear an under and top coat.
