I have a couple of these in different finishes, the main reason I brought them was I was wondering around a pharmacy waiting and spotted the lacquer lip crayon first with its shiny coat, well it drew me in and I walked away with 2 of them in my hands to purchase.
I'm normally a matte long lasting lipstick kind of girl as I'm lazy and putting on these types sees me through the day without touch ups but the attraction to these balm stains was strong.
Matte: Sultry (dark pinky purple) Lacquer/gloss: Provocateur (bright red)
Both of these offer a non dragging and non drying formula wrapped up in a butter smooth application crayon in a twist up and down capped crayon. The design of these are that the colour of the product inside is reflected in the colour of the outer packaging, even so much that the lacquer colour has a shiny effect to the barrel, where the matte colour has a muted matte finish to it. Both of the formulas were quite long lasting, the matte more so than the glossy red which seemed to want to slide off of my lips after eating and drinking which is normal of this type of finish. The matte stuck around a little after eating but soon wore away, both needed at least 2 tops ups during a 9-10 hours work day to see me all the way through, but these lip crayons are cute enough to slip into your bag, or put on your desk to top up with.
These balms act like a lipstick and lip balm had a beautiful love child together with a sprinkle of staying power thrown in for good luck. They hydrate your lips to a point, it isn't a complete substitute for a balm but it doesn't dry out your lips and has a very faint mint smell to it that wore off once applied that makes you think of regular lip balms.
I only have 2 of these at the moment but they do catch my eye as soon as I walk into Farmers or the pharmacy so no doubt the temptation to resist buying more will be short lived.
I have three of these in various shades and love them. These are my go to lip product if I am going out and don't want to have to worry about my lip colour coming off if I know I am going to have limited opportunity to reapply it. I love how nice these feel on and they are super easy to apply. My only groan is that once the sharp tip has worn off they can be hard to get precise lines with but you could always sharpen it with a little knife if you needed to. The packaging is nice and easy to use with a twist up action to get the product out of the tube. There is a hint of peppermint in the balm when you first apply it but it is not at all overpowering and I find it refreshing and nice.
