This lip liner pencil came with the Max Factor Velvet Matte Lipstick which I was fortunate to be given to trial. I was very grateful for both, as I love Max Factor products.
It is a thin gold pencil with a clear cap. The product is clear.
I went to the Max Factor website to read the instructions, which are to start at the cupids bow use little strokes to outline the edge of the lips, then fill in the centre using the side of the pencil. Blot off any excess then apply lip colour. On application, it gives my lips a soft, waxy feel, but then my lips feel dry quite quickly after applying the product.
I have to say, the pencil wears down fast! It is easy to sharpen though.
Next I apply my lipstick, which glides on quite easily and evenly.
The product states that it works by holding lip colour in place and prevents bleeding, feathering and smudging. And it does do that very well. I do have trouble with bleeding, due to my age, so finding a way to use lipstick to stop it from bleeding is a boon!
As to whether I’d use it again? Well, it does do what it says it will do, so that’s very good. I will keep using this one, but in future I’d like to try a coloured one for contrast.
I tried this with the Max Factor Lipstick. But I didn't like the fact that it was clear, I would rather have colour one. Since it was clear you couldn't tell whether it stayed on. When I used it all over my lips it, it fried them out. And I don't think it helped keeping the lipstick on any longer. I showed it to a couple of friends but they said they would rather have a coloured one.
Tips: Buy a coloured one instead!
