Max Factor Universal Lip Liner

I tried this with the Max Factor Lipstick. But I didn't like the fact that it was clear, I would rather have colour one. Since it was clear you couldn't tell whether it stayed on. When I used it all over my lips it, it fried them out. And I don't think it helped keeping the lipstick on any longer. I showed it to a couple of friends but they said they would rather have a coloured one.

Tips: Buy a coloured one instead!

Universal Lip Liner

This lip liner pencil came with the Max Factor Velvet Matte Lipstick which I was fortunate to be given to trial. I was very grateful for both, as I love Max Factor products.

It is a thin gold pencil with a clear cap. The product is clear.

I went to the Max Factor website to read the instructions, which are to start at the cupids bow use little strokes to outline the edge of the lips, then fill in the centre using the side of the pencil. Blot off any excess then apply lip colour. On application, it gives my lips a soft, waxy feel, but then my lips feel dry quite quickly after applying the product.

I have to say, the pencil wears down fast! It is easy to sharpen though.

Next I apply my lipstick, which glides on quite easily and evenly.

The product states that it works by holding lip colour in place and prevents bleeding, feathering and smudging. And it does do that very well. I do have trouble with bleeding, due to my age, so finding a way to use lipstick to stop it from bleeding is a boon!

As to whether I’d use it again? Well, it does do what it says it will do, so that’s very good. I will keep using this one, but in future I’d like to try a coloured one for contrast.

Tips: Try moisturising your lips prior to using the lip liner to help reduce drying.

I like the idea of it...

I was sent the universal lip liner along with a MaxFactor lipstick to review. I think the idea of a universal lip liner is cool - its saves buying tons of different shades and trying to match lipsticks to liners. But you can't get a super defined look with it because it's invisible on your lips. I think it does help with the longevity of my lipstick a bit, but I do prefer using a regular coloured lip liner.

Tips: This is good if you don't have the time to carefully line your lips with a coloured lip liner, and just want something quick to chuck on that you don't need to be precise with, to make your lipstick last longer.

Great idea

I thought this lip liner was such a great idea, a "Universal Lip Liner", transparent to go with any shade of lipstick. While it is a good idea and says it is moisturising, I actually found it made my lips look a bit flaky. Even after exfoliating and moisturising, I didn't feel it was very moisturising. It was very good at keeping my lipstick on my lips though. It goes on very smoothly but then seems to "clump" up a bit. I've decided I prefer to use it just on the very edge of my lips, even just outsidemy lips, and minimally the inside to fill. This way it helps to fill and plump the shape of my lips and keep my lipstick contained to my lips, no bleeding! It is also extremely hard to sharpen. Looking at it, at first I thought must have been a twist "crayon" type. But I could not see how it twisted. So I checked and Max Factor said to sharpen it. But it just would not sharpen! It is very plastic-y and hard and wouldn't fit in my regular make up sharpener. So I had to set about trying all of my children's sharpeners until I found one that sort of managed to sharpen it but left very wonky, sharp edges around it and felt like it was going to either split the pencil or the sharpener! I think I still prefer a nude lip liner for most of my lipsticks but I will continue to use this for now at least, as long as I can sharpen it again.

Tips: Don't apply too much, use lightly around the edge of your lips or just outside to the shape and size you would like then gently blend into the rest of your lips and blot lightly with a tissue before applying your lipstick. Be very careful when sharpening!

Lined Lips

Have trouble with those liquid lipsticks lol I do . I always turn to my lip liner. I was gifted this pencil from a friend . I honestly never really reach for my lip liners as often as I do with this one .

This pencil goes on white in colour . So it’s easy to map out your putter lip lines . I find it good as a base for any lippy to go over the top with . It’s pigmented enough to provide a good base system.

I can get a good days wear underneath my lipstick providing a good 6 hrs of wear time . I think it’s priced accurately. I definitely wouldn’t have looked to but this myself but I’m surprised at how well this worked for me .

Invisible Lip Liner

I received the lip liner pencil along with the Max Factor Velvet Matt Lipstick to trial just recently which was a nice surprise as I did not expect a lip liner too.I have never really been one to wear lip liners as I have felt they are just too hard and messy to apply and me not having the most fullest of lips, felt it a waste of time so when I saw the Max Universal colourless (yes that is correct) Lip Liner I jumped for joy.Wow! a lip liner that can be used with any shade of lipstick and will match any skin tone, this is awesome,no more messy mistakes and no need for a heap of liners that you end up buying just to match your lipsticks. This lip liner was easy to apply and it did help keep my lipstick in place,I had no bleeding, feathering or any smudging.I love how it contains natural ingredients such as Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E which are known for their moisturising and nourishing abilities. If you follow the tips suggested above you can not go wrong when using this lip liner.

Transparent Lip Liner

I don't usually use lip liner but I liked this lip liner from Max Factor. This product goes well with their lipstick. I love the fact that I feel like putting a balm on my lips while applying this product. The formula is a bit matte for me and the smell is just so-so.

The only thing I don't like about it is the thick feeling when applied. I really don't like putting heavy makeup every day so I don't use it every day. This lip liner is just for a special occasion where I have to have my lipstick intact for long hours.

Tips: Let the lip liner set for 5 minutes on your lips before applying lipstick so the vitamins on the lip liner will be absorbed well by your lips

Universal lip liners are always handy

I received this liner with the Max Factor Matte lippy that I was also sent to trial by BR. I don't always use a liner because I am touching up semi-regularly throughout the day and it seems a bit pointless. This one went on well and wasn't moisturising. For the outer of the lip you do want a barrier so it works well in that respect. In terms of filling your whole lip in, which I tend to do, I didn't like how matte this liner felt on the whole of my lip. Especially coupled with a matte lipstick (although the Max Factor one is a very creamy matte) I found it to be just a little bit too dry. I prefer to use a lip primer to add moisture under matte lipsticks. I do find my lips are quite sensitive and I can't wear a matte lipstick more than once a week or my lips totally peel. As a liner this works well and does exactly what it should. All over the lip in place of a primer I'm not so convinced. The packaging is really nice and this pencil is easy to sharpen.

Universal lip liner

I received this liner to trial with the max factor velvet matt lipstick. A universal lip liner what a perfect thing to have if travelling. It is white in colour and goes on clear. It glides on easily and gives a dry feel. However the lipstick did go on a lot smoother and it did stop it from bleeding because I did try th lipstick without the liner and I noticed that it did bleed a little on the sides. I did find that it got used up very quickly and needed to be sharpened a lot more and it was a bit difficult to sharpen it to be honest. Overall a good product and does what it says it should. Worth having 1 especially for travelling saves you space and hassle of taking a whole heap of different liners.

Tips: Use a good sharpener. Needs to be sharpened after 3-4 uses.

Handy to have

A universal lip liner is obviously a genius idea. Who can be bothered matching a lip liner exactly to every lip color that they own.. not me anyway.

The soft gel like consistency of this lip liner reminds me of a basic lip balm, it's quite different to other lip liners that I have.

This lip liner glides on smoothly, as it is invisible it is difficult to judge how much I'm actually using.. It certainly helps to prevent bleeding, but is not as effective as my colored lip liners.

I love that it's basically fool proof so that it can be applied quickly without any fuss, as opposed to a colored lip liner where application needs to be quite precise.

I'm not a big wearer of lipstick, mostly it's for special occasions or nights out for me, so this is great. However if I did wear lipstick a lot, and a certain go to shade I would probably want to use a matching liner rather than this one.
