Have fully jumped on the Lime Crime bandwagon. After loving the velvetine range, I decided to give the Opaque a try and purchased Geradium and I must say I am very impressed. I was starting to give up on lipstick as they all wear off, smudge or just don't look right on me. Not anymore. I LOVED the pigmented formula and it was so creamy and easy to apply. The color is super beautiful and vibrant, I will definitely be purchasing more in the range. It did wear off after a while and doesn't have the staying power that velvetine range does but it's definitely easier to apply/remove. Would highly recommend.

Love this brand of lipsticks ! So many gorgeous colors too choose from weither your wanting Something bright and extravagant or something simple . I'm not usually a huge lipstick wearer as I don't think I have " full enough lips " but I still bought a few of these and I love them ! Cute packaging , reasonable priced what more could a girl want ?
A new Lime Crime lippy just arrived in the mail for me so I thought I would have a hunt on here and see if I can give them a wee review! Hooray! They are on here - and for good reason. Lime Crime lipsticks are gorgeous. Gorgeous colours, gorgeous packaging, gorgeous finish. Simply, gorgeous.
We shall start with the gorgeous colours - I'd say most people on here are well aware of Lime Crime's wild colours. Bold, bright and beautiful is exactly how I'd describe them. Have you ever seen a bright blue lipstick? Or dark earthy green? Or egg yolk yellow? Well hop on to www.limecrime.com and prepare to be amazed! These beautiful pigmented colours come in a range of shades. Some crazy, some are brighter versions of wearable colours, and some are starting to create new trends. They have a mix of brights, pastels and dark vampy colours.
I find heaps of the shades very wearable - like Babette (a bit of a cult favourite) which is a peachy nude, Geranium - a bright pinky red, Countessa Fluorescent - briiiiiight pink (like Candy Yum Yum by Mac) the list goes on! Overall colour-wise I would definitely say there's a colour out there for everyone and some colours that might put you out of your comfort zone... in a good way!
On to the gorgeous packaging - again, I'm sure most people have seen it before but the lippies come unsealed in a wee purple box and the tube is purple as well with a unicorn and some stars on it. Can anyone say ca-uuute!? Despite the fact they CAN be mistaken for tampons or miniature sex toys, I think the packaging is very sweet and something a bit unique and different which I give them credit for!
Now the gorgeous finish - Lime Crime lipsticks are known for being uber creamy! I find they have more staying powder than all of the Mac formulas and they feel amazing on the lips! They're suuuper pigmented and totally not drying. Sometimes, they can be too creamy and they do transfer easily, however I find that if you blot your lips on a tissue after applying that the darker colours can turn into a bit of a lipstain which is good because then they last even longer!
Overall, I would say that a Lime Crime lippy is a bit of a must have! Get out of your comfort zone and add one to your collection! There are so many NZ retailers selling them now and they are often on sale. Also they are usually only around $25-$30 which is cheaper than a Mac lipstick!
Tips: If you don't want to step out of your comfort zone then have a look at some of the reds, or the pinks. They do a nice light pink which I think is a more wearable version of St Germain by Mac which is called Great Pink Planet. Babette and Coquette are both very popular nude colours too! Another tip is to definitely try blotting the colour off a bit on a tissue if you are planning on wearing it all day! It will make it last longer.
Last tip - look for sales! Peppermayo Boutique, Blush Baby, Pagan Marie NZ - all of these websites often have sales so you can get quite a good deal! Happy shopping x
I'll be honest, originally I only brought the lipstick because of the packaging (it's got a unicorn on it!) But after receiving the lipstick (I brought Retrofuturist) I fell in love. This is such a awesome brand of lipstick; high quality, amazing colour, super creamy, goes on well, great coverage and lasts a decent amount of time. The more "normal" colours can be hard to get your hands on as they sell out fast, however they are worth the wait and if you have the confidence to rock the more dramatic shades then good on ya! :D
The most impressive thing about these lipsticks is the colors, but there are also some things I don't like about them. The color range is obviously amazing, my personal favourite is the gorgeous orange My Beautiful Rocket, and I love that they bring out limited editions often. I also love the packaging, though some people tell me they look like something quite inappropriate to be pulling out in public ;) Unfortunately these are not very long wearing, they are quite drying and some colors actually sting my lips, and the colors can bleed quite a bit. They are also very soft so melt easily in hot weather or fall apart if you use them a little too roughly. In saying all that I do still have quite a fondness for these lipsticks and will probably try some more in the future.
The first thing that drew me to the Lime Crime brand was the absolutely adorable packaging and the vibrant colours. Naturally I invested a bulk lot (including nail polish and eye shadows). The lipsticks I have are in Geradium, Countessa Fluorescent and the purple shade (the name I can't remember at the moment). The colour payoff is amazing and true to the shade you see in the tube. The formula is creamy and does not dry out your lips - in fact it just looks lovely and nourishing and absolutely glam. I really want the Glamour101 next! If you want good quality, colour rich and moisturising lipsticks, then this is one to try out. The prices are a bit on the expensive side though but I absolutely love them and will continue to buy them.
Tips: Use a lip scrub on your lips before applying lipstick. It gives a lovely polished surface for the lipstick to go on. This is a great trick especially when using bolder colours which can look harsh like reds and purples.
I like the creamy and long lasting formula BUT the colors are so hard to pull off, I find that there are a lot cheaper and more wearable products and brands out there for a lot less, I understand the hype for people who want an out there look but when their more normal colors are still hard to pull off its disappointing. Sadly a product I have to use with another to get a color I like
I bought this online after hearing about it through other lippy fanatics like me.
Wow what a pigmented amazingly powerful lippy. Its very creamy and glides on with ease.
It stayed on for awhile even though I ate and drunk and needed no touchups.
Will definitely be trying more of their range
I have been using Lime Crime since 2010 when they were just a little indie brand with only a couple of thousand likes. The quality has always been outstanding and worth the money you pay. These wee gems not only provide a full opaque coverage but also are extremely moisturizing and smell like candy. I love the cute unicorn packaging, So if you ladies don't yet own one of these you have to buy one ASAP! Think rainbows, cotton candy and unicorns in a lipstick tube.
Tips: As always these lippies bleed on me too so its worth using a lip liner (or eyeliner on the lips for those more daring colors). My only gripe is that they are so soft in the tube so store in a cool place as iv'e had 3 tubes snap on me.
Babette is the best ever lipstick I have ever known, and ignited my passion for Lime Crime. Firstly it is just so damn pretty in its purple barrel with silver/glitter unicorn and star pattern I can spend hours just staring at my pretties, its also very effective at its job of containing the lipstick, the lid is fitted just right to not come off in your bag, so you are safe to travel without fear of wrecking it. Secondly the lipstick itself is heaven, from its luxurious soft application which can be on the side of soft so be careful with it if you live in a warmer than normal situation or you might snap it., but the colour is intensely pigmented with one swipe enough to fully coat both upper and lower lip. Even after blotting the colour is still there with just as much oomph!! To cap off the lipstick has a divine vanilla scent to it which brings a smile to my lips each and every time. Lime Crime has a way of making putting make up on fun and that is how everyone should live, for fun!!!
Update: Babette has been toppled by the mighty Poisonberry this is my ultimate Opaque lipstick by Lime Crime
