Brixton Brown 5 colour palette

This palette came in the March Beauty Box. ƍt's not really colours I'd buy myself, but I was game to give it a go and see if I like it. I actually do like the shadows, and don't hate the colours, but don't wear them often enough to make it worthwhile for me and so will be handing it on to my Mum. I've given them a fair trial though and have a positive opinion of the product.

This Rimmel Glam Eyes HD Eyeshadow Palette is a 5 colour collection under the name 'Brixton Brown'.

The 5 colours are a dark brown, a milkier Ƨhocolate'brown, a lighter dark taupe shade, a very shimmery creamy tan and a deep rust red. Of the 5, I love the shimmery creamy tan colour and tend to use that in my inner eye with the taupe on the lid and the darker browns on the outer edge and under my outer lower lashes. It does create a pretty, neutral brown eye look. The rusty red is a cute little pop of a different shade. All shades feature a degree of reflective particles or shimmer, meaning the light will (and does) hit them nicely to create a soft, shimmery effect, particularly if they are blended well.

These last well through my long day, especially if I use a primer. I've actally received compliments on looks I have created using them, and as I said I do *like* the shades, and really like the formula of the shadow, but it's one I'm content to hand on to someone I think will use it more.

Thanks for the opportunity to give it a go though BR x

Brixton Brown - Love the name!

This gorgeous looking 5 set of eyeshadows came in the March Beauty Box and as I have been a fan of Rimmel for years! I was more than overjoyed to see this little package in there.

The Rimmel Glam'Eyes HD Eyeshadow palette consists of 5 shade of browns that are of compacted powder formula. Application wise I found that these were easy to use but didn't have the power or pigmentation to really do stand out looks. For the price range though if you were to add a primer underneath to extend the life span then these are great starters for teens as you can't really overdo the colour. For me as there is that lack of wow factor and the colours are rather chalky, I don't think I would be using it again, or purchasing any other set from this collection under Rimmel which is a shame as the lip and mascara products are amazing.

Colour variety inside Brixton Brown consists of a beige tan colour that has a slight shimmer effect in the pan but is lost on the lid, a dark brown which appears to be matte, a more muted brown which again is more matte in appearance, brown toned red that is the most pigmented of all 5 colours and a very light brown almost creamy coloured with a hint of shimmer. It just lets me down, perhaps I am spoilt by some of my other eyeshadows that are on the market for similar prices that have more impact on the lids.

Beauty review beauty box

I received this in March's beauty box. In Brixton Brown I wasn't particularly drawn to it due to the shimmery colours. However upon using it the colours aren't so dark and shimmery as it seems in the palette. Upon application it blends easily and sets well with a good pigmented colour. It doesn't seem to fade and lasts all day no fall out during the day. Again surprised at how the colours see intense in the palette then on the lid but perhaps when used with a primer it could be a while different story. The palette is dinky but has 5 colours and has a diagram at the back of how to use the these colours for a nice eye look. I did try to follow that pattern but decided to just do my own look. The colours are a shimmer white / creamm a taupe brown a dark brown a chocolate brown and a Marron type red with shimmer I'm drawn more to the red maroon in the palette and will use that mainly as I've got the darker colours in other palettes I own. After seeing reviews on Rimmel I just needed to have the brand in my collection. Now that I do I say it just sits there looking pretty in my shadows basket.

A good starter

I received this in the March BRBB and I was so excited because I received the Brixton brown palette which fits me perfect I love the brown-er coloured eye shadows.

This cute wee palette has 5 colours there is a deep red colour in the centre and a peachy tan that are both quite shimmery but the deep red brown, medium brown and lighter brown are quite matte and have no pigmentation. The texture is quite chalky but it applies nicely and it's easy to blend I do however use my own brush as I hate the silly little applicators that come with the palette. I still think this is a nice basic palette, It's staying power is average if I apply first thing in the morning I have to touch up by lunchtime even if I'm not doing a lot. I like it but don't love it.

Good quality, easy way to create a new look

I own this in the version pictured above; 'True Union Jack'. The eye shadow comes in a simple black and transparent case and comes with a sponge applicator. I don't like how it comes with a sponge applicator as this is useless for applying the eye shadow. The quad comes with 4 eye shadow colours in a union jack shape, which looks very pretty. The main colour is a pink shimmer shade which is very pretty on the eyelid and very wearable. The pearl like silver shade is also very pretty. There are two navy blue shimmers, one is much darker than the other. Neither of these shades are very wearable by themselves as they are quite dark, but they blend very well with the other colours. The back of the product gives instructions on how to use the four shades together to create a look. I really liked this aspect to the eye shadow and found the instructions easy to follow. I was able to easily create a pretty look. The eye shadow has very good staying power compared to other brands of eye shadow I use; the eye shadow lasts all day without creasing. I would definitely repurchase this product as it is affordable, has good staying powder and makes it easy to create an eye shadow look.

Brixton Browns

This is one from the March BRBB, Brixton Browns. The palette is metallic/shimmer on all shades of Brixton Browns. If you are looking for a matte you won't find it on the Brixton Browns. There are 5 colours on it; going clockwise Champagne, Taupe, Chocolate brown, Dark brown and in the middle Cranberry red. I had a look but could not find a colour description for the shades, I am sure that Rimmel has named them just not where I can find them. I was a little unsure of the red colour at first but I am starting to use it a lot more.

The stay power on these is great, I put them on in the morning and they are still going strong in the evening, Rimmel states 10 hours. The eyeshadow is a creamy powder formula that can be used both wet and dry but I have only used it dry at this time, I will update the review if I use it wet. On the back of the palette they show where you can place each colour on the lid but I skip that and go wild. These are blendable colours and I have turned the red to a pink or dusty rose on occasion. For the price, it isn't bad and it is a small set that fits nicely into a small hand bag for touch ups if you are going out straight after work. It does come with a tiny applicator which is fine in an emergency, like the time I left my brushes at home, but otherwise I use my brushes to apply.

I do see me finishing this pallet and I am pretty certain that I will buy another of these in a different colour probably.

Rimmel Eyeshadow I keep going back to

I have the Brixton Browns pallet & find it is great to keep going back to. Good range of different colours to use depending on how bold or soft you want your look to be. I havent had too much use with the centre red, but have found this pallet gives me a great opportunity to try different looks without going too far out of my comfort zone.

Colour lasts well & non - irritating.

Everyday wear for me

I recieved this also in the beauty box in Brixton brown 022 shade. This is perfect for my day look. I find it glides on smoothly with a shimmer to it and I like how it shows you how to apply it to different parts of your eyes. I love palettes as they are so easy for busy mums! I also like the two different ends of the applicator. I find that I stay away from the middle shade as it's too red for my skin tone, but love the other four shades.

Daily Usage!

I received this in the last BR box in Brixton Brown. It is so easy to use - as a beginner this is exactly what im after when starting out. I love how there is a guide on the back to show where to apply each shade.

The colours are nice shades of brown. They are also buildable. I found they dont last an entire day, I do need to touch up by late afternoon.

It comes with a tiny applicator but I use my finger for the base shades and brushes for the rest.

Good beginner palette

I got this palette in the BRBB. I got it in Brixton Brown which is a neutral palette. I'm glad I got this because the colours are the typical eyeshadow colours I go for if I do wear eyeshadows.

I've used this a few times and even on the makeup look I did on this site. I think the combination of shades are great and they all complement each other. You can create a nice eyeshadow look using this palette and it's a great size. It's good for travelling as it's not bulky.

I found this to be blendable too and buildable. I don't use the brush that came with it though.
