Colorpop super shock!

I have brought a couple of these now, some I absolutely love, some are just okay. Overall I would purchase again but I would be a little wary on the colours you pick. I would highly recommend a eyeshadow base applied before using them and even a matte colour applied so it helps the super shock pop.

Super Shocked, who would have thought

Everyone in the beauty world has heard about colourpop. Its only around 1 year old, but it has taken the beauty world by storm because it makes affordable, high quality makeup products, and when i say affordable, i mean $5 usd. Pretty cheap considering how much other makeup products are.

These eyeshadows are packaged cheaply, but what do you expect when you pay such a small price for them. They come in a plastic container that has a screw top lid, and a see through lid which has the world 'colourpop'.

What makes this product really unique, is its consistency. The eye shadow is creamy, but slightly spongy, and slightly mousse like. I know that might not seem very helpful, but it is a hard consistency to describe. If you press your finger into the eye shadow, it will leave an imprint.

I find the easiest way to apply these eye shadows is actually with my finger. and then i use a brush to blend and create the eyelook i want.

I find these eyeshadows are extremely long lasting, and can almost even stain my skin because they last that long! Colourpop eyeshadows come in an impressive range of colours and finishes. I do have to say some of the pearlized shadows can be a bit too sparkly for me, but still great for a dramatic eye.

Overall, these eyeshadows are a must try for everyone. However, i will say that it might sound cheap initially, but when you buy lots of shades, the price quickly adds up and you could buy a higher end palette. In saying that, because coloupop eye shadows are sold individually so you get to custom pick the shades you want which is always awesome.

How super, is the Super Shock Shadow?

Alright ladies, so I have a few of these bad boys: SHIMMERS: So Quiche: Greeny-Grey undertone/base with pink shimmer/glitter through Millionaire: Golden undertone/based with pink shimmer/glitter throughout (this colour is deceiving online, it looks like it's one solid colour) Cricket: Cool toned, purple shimmer Telepathy: Super bright, yellow, golden shimmer La La: Rose Gold Shimmer (to die for... my favourite shade!)

MATTE: Central Perk: Cross between Maroon and Ultra Violet Mittens: Rich brown with strong red undertones

PROS: Pigmented, beautiful, incredible range of shades, unique texture... the shimmers are my ultimate favourite, they're so easy to work with, you get amazing colour pay off, they really compliment any makeup look. Not much fall out due to the texture/consistency Super shimmery/glittery. CHEAP but quality!

CONS: No cons really for the shimmery shades... my grieveance is with the matte shades...I'm just not as much of a fan of these. I find them a little more difficult to work with and blend out... like a lot of the colour pop products (aside from lip products) I think these are easiest to work with when using your fingers, they are challenging with a brush.. this is only the matte shades, the shimmers I don't have this problem. The matte shades I also found can dry out easily and crack.

CONCLUSION: Worth the money, the shimmery shades are to die for! I would buy more of them, I'm still willing to work with the mattes because they have such a beautiful colour range and the value and quality for money is fantastic. Side note: Pot's are deceiving and are much shallower then you think!

Tips: Easiest to use with fingers. When using a brush I would use quite a dense brush to help with blending the product out.

Super pigmented

I got this in Bill, which is a purple/mauve sort of color. When I bought this online I thought it'd be quite a big bigger but the pan is actually very shallow despite the deceptively deep packaging.

The texture of this makes me think of those cream to powder blushes which feel bouncy to apply but then dries to a powdery finish. Because of its texture, it's insanely pigmented especially when packed on with my finger. It also glides on very smooth when I use my finger to spread it out. I don't think it works as well with a brush because it sort of squishes around a bit, and has a tendency to stick to the hairs of the brush.

The wear not as long lasting as some of my other shadows, perhaps due to its unique formulation. And I do notice patchiness and creasing after a while even with primer on. But for an everyday lid color this isn't too bad.

I probably won't buy more of these simply because the shipping isn't worth it unless I get a bulk.

Very unique

I have never come across eyeshadows like these before, but I currently own about 15 of the shades and I really like most of them.

The packaging is quite nice, although it is a bit big compared to how much shadow you actually get. They don't have a very noticeable scent, and the texture is quite creamy.

A few of the lighter shades I own are not as opaque as I think they are supposed to be, but the darker colours are incredibly pigmented. I do have a bit of trouble blending some of the darker shades, they definitely take a bit more work than other brands, but it is manageable.

They last quite a while when they're on, although I have noticed a bit of transferring after wearing them for a full day. This is mostly unavoidable with eyeshadow primer in my experience. Overall, I definitely recommend these, especially as they're so cheap.

Gimme gimme

I will always advocate for any Colourpop product. I’ve tried many of them and just adore the results. They’re also really great for price! They’re cheap but they don’t sacrifice quality at all.

In terms of these eyeshadow pots, they’re very cute. Not huge but then you don’t really need to layer them on for them to pop! There’s a huge range to pick from and every one of them spreads on well and stays there. Use with an eyeshadow primer for an even better result!

Tips: Look out for free international shipping when you spend over a certain amount and then STOCK UP!

Absolute BARGAIN!

I bought six of these since I felt like throwing all caution to the wind. The colours I got are:

Meow - a marbled grey, black, white and pink with a whole lot of fine glitter thrown in the mix. Goes on quite dark and really sparkly but such a nice colour for a vampy look.

Fringe - is a light gold shimmery colour.

La La - is a peachy nude. Good as a base colour or a simple wash to even out skin tone on your eyelids.

Hanky Panky - is a medium brown, really nice to go through the crease to add a bit of definition.

Bill - a dark chocolate brown. Goes great as an eyeliner too.

Cop A Feel - a metallic copper colour which is AMAZING for blue eyes.

The texture of these eyeshadows is nothing I've seen before. It's a 'mousse' type of texture when you touch it but goes on like a powder. Don't press too hard though! The shadows aren't 'hard packed'. If you dip your brush in too hard, it leaves a dent pretty easy so if you drop them, I'd hate to think what they end up like. Which is probably why I've not given it a full rating.

The pigmentation is amazing for a product that's so affordable. These will be a restock item in my collection for sure.

Tips: Use your fingertip to get the best pigmentation, otherwise a synthetic brush is ideal. It can clog in your brush if you press too hard though.

Pigmented Perfection

Colour Pop cosmetics caught my eye a few months ago with their incredible colour selection, pigmented products and affordable prices. The pictures I had seen and reviews I had read were fab, so with reasonably pricey shipping I stocked up. I ordered directly from the Colour Pop website and my order took 14 days to arrive. The products arrived with an incredible amount of packaging around them, so there was no way that they could arrive damaged. The packaging of the actual products is fresh, practical and sturdy. It's nothing fancy, but it suits the products perfectly.

The Colour Pop Super Shock Shadows are beautiful. There is so much glistening, foil shimmer that is so finely milled that they look far more expensive than they actually are. These products are incredibly pigmented. . every single one of them. When applied to the eye area they only loose a small amount of pigmentation. I prefer to apply the shadows with my finger to retain pigmentation and allow for easier blending. The formula of the shadows is somewhere between a cream and a powder, which is hard to explain. They are buttery and thick, but are not entirely a cream formula. If you love the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, you will love these. I do prefer to combine these with the Naked 3 palette, as I find the Naked 3 formulas easy to blend around the edges.

There is only a very small amount of product compared to the size of the packaging, but because they are so pigmented a little goes a long way. They are absolute value for money, and it is the perfect way to experiment with new colours. I 100% recommend these shadows and I will give a small description of the shades I purchased below:

Girly: This had been my most used shade as it is the perfect everyday colour for the inner corner of my lid. It is a pearly cream shade that opens the eyes and looks fresh and, well, girly.

Get Lucky: This is the most beautiful, but less wearable shade. It is pure, pigmented gold with a foil finish. It transfers incredibly well to the lid, but gold isn't a shade that I wear everyday.

Liberty: Liberty is an incredible metallic silver. I find that this is the most pigmented of the shades, and I truly can't believe how bold it is. Whilst I am not usually a silver girl, this shade has enticed me.

Rex: This is a navy shade with a sea blue glitter running through it. I love this colour when swatched, but I don't find it particularly wearable. It doesn't work as a liner, which a lot of other navy shadows do. It is a messy shade.

Game Face and On the Rocks: These shades are very similar and I would recommend only purchasing one. They are both bronze shades, with On the Rocks being a little more brown and Game Face a little more gold.

La La and Amaze: Again, these shades are very similar and I would recommend purchasing only one. They are both light bronzes, with La La being a tiny bit darker.

Tips: Apply with fingers rather than a brush.

Best cream eyeshadow out there

I hands down love almost everything that Colourpop has put out and own probably 70% of the range now! I got addicted to the eyeshadows after trying the Shaaanxo collab set of quad eyeshadows.

Design wise these cute little individual eyeshadows come in a little round plastic white pot with the clear acrylic insert lid that has the word Colourpop stamped on top in a holographic font, the lid is a screw top type that has a really secure tight fitting which is essential as these creamy shadows would dry out extremely fast if exposed to the air for long periods of time. Inside the pots these velvety creamy shadows are packed with a pattern on top that looks like scales as in fish scales which makes me think of mermaids and who doesn't love mermaids!! Unfortunately the pattern is short lived as it is just a light indent on the shadow surface, once you are in to the shadow using it the texture means the pattern rubs off fast, normally in 1 to 2 uses.

Texture wise as I have said it is creamy and velvet to the touch when applying using your fingertip. It is very long lasting with the colour staying true to the colour in the pot all day, it doesn't smudge once on but it can be a little fickle to blend as it is a cream shadow and they tend to be a little harder to blend than powder shadows. All the colours I own have great pigmentation even in the pastel shades but using a eyeshadow primer just makes the colours more intense and vibrant.

Colours currently owned (at time of review, no doubt there will be more - I haven't given details per shade as there is far too many)

Lala (use almost daily as it is shimmer perfection!!!) Krinkle, Shameless, In a Pickle, Rex, Drift, Bandit, Fringe, Envy, Daddy, Flux, Snapdragon, Cowboy, Acorn

Application wise I use both finger tip and brush depending on what I want to achieve with the shadows, using a brush gives a more sheer effect where you can pack the colour for a more vibrant pop with your fingertip

Tips: Be careful these are super soft and will get damaged if you go heavy handed into them, also never leave a lid off for extended periods of time they will dry out and become unusable.

La La - Rose gold goodness

Out of all the rose gold makeup I own 'La La' by far is the most stunning example of the shade. The online swatches do it no justice!

I bought my lot off of the Colourpop website and had it shipped via Shipito to NZ even though Colourpop ship direct to NZ. For the quality you get, these are unbelievably affordable however be mindful of the exchange rate.

I like the simple white packaging with the see-through screw top however it's not the most user friendly when you're in a rush. If you forget to close it you'll be greeted with dry product the next time round but it's nothing a little MAC Fix Plus and a bit of pressure can't fix.

When I originally tested the shadow I used a flat eyeshadow brush to pat on the colour but I felt the product clung to the bristles and the finish looked rather patchy. I prefer instead to pat the product on with clean fingers - you're left with great pigmentation, even coverage and a goregeous metallic finish.

What I love most about these shadows is you can go in with your powder shadows and still be able to blend the product in without it looking caked on.

I have oily lids so unfortunately due to the creamy nature of the shadow it'll begin fading by the 5th to 6th hour (or without primer within 3 to 4 hours) so I tend to reserve these types of shadows for when I'm going out for a short period of time.

Tips: Prime my lids, pat on the shadow using my finger then smoke the corners out with a burgundy brown using a brush.
