Love love love but wish it came with a brush!

I have used this gel liner for years! I like Bobbi Brown's simplistic and sleek packaging. The liner is seriously fab. So easy to apply, not clumpy at all! It goes on easy and smooth and I am no liner expert!! The only thing I found difficult with this product was finding a suitable brush! I should have bought a Bobbi Brown one, it would have saved me trying many different liner brushes finding the right one.

Wears really well

I have this in the shade 'espresso ink' and I really like it. I wear it quite often, as I find black can be a bit much for me in the office, but brown is nice and subtle. It took me a while to get the right brush for this, but once I did, applying it has been a breeze. It doesn't budge once I put it on, and lasts from morning to night, or the wee hours of the following day. My only bug bear is the price of this product - but I guess that's the price of living in NZ!

Tips: Use an angled flat brush style, the pointed style is difficult to work with.

I love it but product in jar dries up too quickly

I have been using this gel eyeliner in Black Ink for years and am currently on my second jar. This product has great colour payoff and a little goes a long way. I have oily eye lids and this product has proven itself to be super long wear and stays put all day- even in humid and hot conditions!

I really like Bobbie Brown's sleek and simple package, very classic and timeless. The amount of product in this little jar really lasts a long time, but the only downside is that it dries up after 8 months or so on me. Even when I have been diligent in keeping the lid on as much as I can.

The best brush to apply this gel liner is a good thin angled brush, I've tried using the napoleon angled brush but it's still not the best tool. So I splurged one day and picked up the Bobbie Brown eyeliner brush and it's worth every cent, the brush is a perfect match for the gel liner to achieve the perfect line!

Tips: If your gel liner jar starts to dry up, pour a drop or two of make up remover on it and it will make it easier to apply. This product will need a good eye maker remover.

Dries up fast.

I use this as my daily eyeliner. I find that I don't have to use a lot to create a vivid line and with the right brush it's very easy to apply as well. It lasts me the whole day and I never have to reapply my eyeliner. I've also rarely had smudging problems with this gel liner. The problem I have with Bobbi Brown Gel Liner is that it dries very fast and becomes very hard to use.

Tips: Apply this with fine liner brush.

Love it, have it in three colours

I was taught how to apply this at a free make up lesson at a bobbi brown counter and since then I am hooked. I do find it smudges if it is applied over a cream eyeshadow. I really like the twightlight shimmer colour, just a hint of shimmer in a black eye liner.

Tips: It is worth investing in the bobbi brown eyeliner brush for application.

Bobbi Brown Gel eyeliner

I found this stuff really cool a MUA showed me how to apply it and i really liked its wearing power so i bought it and havent looked back since, you need a good angled fine brush to apply and just take your time and you can get a very cool pigmented line and your done.

Tips: Store upside down to stop from drying out so fast.

In the Ink

I have tried Black Ink and Espresso Ink (dark brown).  It looks like liquid eyeliner, but is much easier to apply as the colour glides on very smoothly.  It is long-wearing and water-resistant and stays on without smearing, creasing or flaking during the rest of the day.

Personally, I find a gel eyeliner easier to apply than liquid as gels take a little longer to dry, giving me time to fix any little mistakes or uneven lines.  Liquid eyeliner is more unforgiving as it dries faster and can be a little tricky to apply (you need to have a much steadier hand).

I do find it to be quite expensive, even though the pot lasts a long time, and it does start to dry out after a few months (Maybelline Eye Studio Gel liner is very similar, but has limited colours). My eyelids also feel a little irritated towards the end of the day, almost like the gel liner is sucking all the moisture out of my skin and my lids look quite red and sensitive after removing the gel (I've tried various different make-up removers, as well as oil cleansing and it's not a reaction to the remover or the way I take it off, as this doesn't happen with other long-wear gel or liquid eyeliners).

Tips: Apply with an angled brush for a thicker line or a fine liner brush for a thinner line. If you do make a mistake while applying gel or liquid eyeliner, simply dip a cotton bud or small brush into some eye make-up remover and use this to erase your mistake without having to remove all your eye make-up!

Doesn't quite cut it

This eyeliner is fairly good in its own right, but I just don't feel it stacks up to others that are available, especially at that price point.

It's easier to use than liquid, which is great, but I find it not as easy as some other gels/creams (it just seems less smooth) and MUCH harder to get a sharp line with, and then I find that while its staying power is pretty good for the most part, it's not as good as my Stila Smudge Pot and is prone to a little bit of fallout and smudging.

While I won't be buying it again because I just don't feel it's worth the price, I will at least be able to use it up because I've found it's really good at staying put on my waterline for when I'm doing dark smokey looks (and at least then a bit of smudging and fallout isn't noticeable!).

Tips: Like any gel or cream, store it upside down to minimise the amount that it dries out (credit to the Bobbi Brown ladies for teaching me this trick when I bought it!).

Also, for cream and gel liners to be any good you really need the right brush - I can't stress enough that a good, fine liner brush is critical. I prefer the angled brushes, personally.

Wonderful!

My Mum has three of these and I am continuously borrowing them! There is so many good shades and they are so pigmented, they stay all day and are smudge proof. They are quite pricey but you don't need much product so it lasts for ages!

A favourite liner

This was my favourite liner for a long time. I loved the way it glided on easily and stayed on all day/night however the last pot I bought I seemed to have trouble with it transferring to the crease in my eyelid (maybe as it was applied over shadow or maybe it was a dud batch?). I used the Bobbi Brown fine liner brush to apply an everyday look but there are others on the market. The colour was good (I used black) but not the most solid colour I've encountered and I have actually more recently preferred liquid liners. The pot it comes in allows you to use every last bit of it.

Tips: Use a liner brush to apply, alter brush width for a thicker line.
