Ten Fragrances That Never Go Out Of Style

by BR Kellie

Recently, in a classic case of 'do as I say, don't do as I do', I threw out five fragrances. Not because I disliked them. Not because I'd grown bored of the scents. But because they'd sat in their dark, cool spot in my wardrobe, unused for so long that they'd begun to smell like something an uninvited Tom cat would spray in your home. The silver lining? It meant I had to buy a new fragrance. But only one, because I learned two lessons that day:

I hate wasting money.

I need to wear my fragrances.

So as I pondered what perfume would grace my wardrobe shelf once more, I found myself drawn to an OG, a scent that's been part of my life on and off for twenty years, and it got me thinking... what are the fragrances that are consistently repurchased because time can not take away their greatness? My curiosity piqued, I went searching for ten iconic scents that will never go out of style.

Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey

This is it. My one and only. The fragrance I go back to time and time again. L'Eau D'Issey, with its floral aquatic scent, is the perfume that makes my heart soar, and has seen me receive many compliments whenever I wear it. It's also the only fragrance that I've fully finished each and every time. A true icon.

Chanel No. 5

Also a true icon? Chanel No. 5. Since being created in 1921, it's become the ultimate in elegance with its distinctive scent of floral aldehyde notes. Truly timeless.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb

This fragrance is the number one Top Rated perfume on Beauty Review for a very good reason - it's amazing, with the Beauty Review community raving about its floral but sexy scent that features notes of patchouli and freesia to create a scent that is truly a showstopper.

Yves Saint Laurent Opium

Created in 1977 by Jean-Louis Sieuzac, Yves Saint Laurent's Opium is a bold and spicy fragrance, and one that I associate with my mother, who wore it back in the 80s. As popular now as it was then, this heady scent will continue to mesmerise generations to come.

Calvin Klein Eternity

Formulated in 1988, Eternity for Women is a floral fragrance that is as contemporary and fresh now as it was then. With notes of citrus, floral and wood, it's as classic as a pair of 501s.

Tom Ford Black Orchid

While Tom Ford Black Orchid's only been around for eighteen years, in that time it's become beloved. Known for its rich, opulent scent, it's a fragrance for those who are sophisticated and confident. Two wonderful attributes that never go out of style - much like this fragrance.

Guerlain Shalimar

Since 1925, Shalimar from Guerlain has entranced fragrance lovers worldwide. Considered a sensual, exotic scent, it blends citrus, floral and vanilla notes to create an unforgettable perfume.

Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds

What would this round up of classic fragrances be without White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor? Launched in 1991, this floral perfume features rose, jasmine, neroli, narcissus and Egyptian tuberose. One of the original celebrity fragrances, White Diamond went on to make well over $1.5 billion in sales.

Dior J'adore

Dior's J'adore is a modern floral fragrance with a rich, luxurious scent. As glamorous as it is feminine, it's a Beauty Review community favourite, with an overall rating of 4.6/5 and nearly 100 reviews to its name!

Calvin Klein CK One

I feel a touch guilty for adding Calvin Klein in twice, but CK One was not only the first perfume I ever owned, it would be my one and only if not for a slight accident, which saw the perfume infuse every inch of my suitcase whilst on a trip away - and without going into too much detail, CK One and the worst hangover ever DO NOT MIX. Still, it's a classic. It's beloved. Even if only - in my case - from afar.

So, my lovelies, what is the one fragrance you repurchase time and time again? Did yours maket the list? Or is there another we need to know about? Get chatting below!

Off the list have tried: L'eau D'Issey, White Diamonds and Ck One but didn't like any of them.

My repurchases are: Sheseido Zen, Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy, YSL Black Opium.

I have never owned any of these fragrances. My everyday scent is DKNY Fresh Blossom. My new favorites from the past couple of years are Armani Si and Le Vie Este Belle. Still love YSL Black Opium but it's really an evening fragrance and I don't go out in the evenings much.

Only one I’ve tried is CK out of that list, would be interested to see what the other ones listed are like.

25th July, 2023

Definitely Miss Dior and La Vie Est Belle.

Good article I want to try some of these! Guerlain Shalimar only heard if the brand ; Tom Ford Black Orchid again only heard of the brand I've always been curious about L'Eau D'Issey. I don't like CK one, Liz Taylor ones I know I've tried some but can't recall which I like and don't like as bottles are similar I've tried all the others. I used to have jadore I had no idea how expensive it was at the time I had it. I have quite a collection of fragrances I repurchase dazzle by Paris Hilton and some Avon ones. I also like Ralph Lauren glamorous - it's discontinued.
